Promzy99: But mind you, at first be ready to face black man mentality to exploit his fellow man will come up, expect high price of power soon Because is only in Nigeria you will see increase in number of competitor of particular goods production process will be leading to high or skyrocket price. In a sane country the more the number of people producing a product the lower the price but no, the reverse is the case for my country. Imagine the number of sachet water producer in this country yet sachet water is still expensive, that is why some people are still taking ordinary water instead of the process packaging water, Also check order product that has much producer, their price is very high. So, I m sure similar situation will come up in this power generation process too. 1 Like |

Paying is not the issue of most Nigerians if people get value they have no problem paying at whatever cost. If you get power at your home 20hrs daily I'm sure you won't have problem paying 10k monthly also, considering the price of diesel today a lot of companies would even willingly pay 100k monthly. dlaw70: 1 Like |

This is what I have been screaming for years now. Allow states and individuals that can generate to do so and pay some form of tax to the government. This would free up the grid for those that can't. It will enhance competition and in the long run a drop in the price of electricity. Nigeria is too big for goodness sake to be ruing on one central grid. That is why it is always collapsing. I just don't understand why we must be centralizing everything in this country creating bureaucratic bottlenecks everywhere. Over-centralization retards progress and it's one of the greatest problems we have in this country. Progress is always retarded usually because it favours northerners. We can also see this in our educational system where they created quota system and educationally less developed nonsense. While others were going to school and developing themselves what were you doing? And why must they be made to wait for you? 1 Like |

The price is not really the problem but value for money, I'm sure if paradventure you but a pure water sachet without or less water inside you wouldn't buy another one from same producer. Nigerians have been paying exorbitantly for darkness. Although it might take some time but I strongly believe it's a right step in the right direction. tymicjay77: |

Promzy99: Power generated should be transmitted to the national grid? The problem with our power sector is not generation but distribution so how will that work? Why not allow those generating little megawatts to distribute to their locality? Nigeria and bottle neck, these guys always look for ways to make life difficult for entrepreneurs. |

As much as this bill would have solved some problem in the power sector the issue of supplying the generated power to national grid is a bill killer! America generates 1014TW per annum. This generation is made up of modular power plant that are perculiar to regions i.e coal, hydro, nuclear, gas & steam turbines, solar and winds. All these plants transmits and distribute the generated electricity within the localities but calculates the electricity generated on a national grid. This system made them achieve near 100% transmission and distribution of generated electricity. Localized Independent power plants (IPPs) will solve the problem of power transmission and distribution in the country and result to more efficient power sector. 2 Likes 1 Share |

stanisbaratheon:Some states are already generating electricity like Akwa Ibom state has Ibom power plant, the problem has always been distribution because the constitution earlier stated that the power generated must be transfered to the national grid first instead of being distributed directly to the state that produced it... 1 Like |
