As long as they don't just sell and share the money as usual. Also let the interested parties build refineries and depots and create local employment before being given access to the fuel, not just them carrying the raw crude and going to refine in their own countries. This opportunity should not be misused. They need us at this point so let's exploit that. We would know all this, if we had a seasoned and educated petroleum minister, not a cattle farmer who also doubles as head of state. |

Hmmnn interesting! So this is why the EU are now desperate to restore peace in Eastern Nigeria? This is also partly the reason why they're subtly supporting Peter Obi to win the presidential election. They know that the gas belt of Nigeria is mainly around Imo, Abia, Rivers and Akwa Ibom. With the secessionists fighting to break away from Nigeria, especially now they're armed will cause so much instability that no meaningful gas exploration and exploitation can take place. With IPOB spreading their tentacles around this region, how can any of these work? Currently, oil theft has superceded official oil exports and only a smart legislation that gives the communities opportunity to earn directly from crude oil sales with caveat that no oil bunkering activity must happen for them to receive the revenue. For the interest and progress of this nation, Peter Obi really needs to emerge as president. Since he is currently enjoying massive support and popularity in SS and SE, it will be easy for him to galvanize the locals in these regions and get their cooperation unlike BAT or Atiku. It would even be a disaster if BAT wins because he is already percieved to be anti SE and SS with his antecedents as well as having Muslim-Muslim presidency. With someone like BAT in Aso rock, secessionist struggle will reach alarming heights while Nigeria won't even see up to 100,000 barrels to export due to massive oil theft. 2023 elections is now a matter of life and death for Nigeria. Choose BAT and see the country go under or choose Peter Obi and watch Nigeria become peaceful and prosperous. 3 Likes |

We have an energy crises on our hands right now in Nigeria, what with the number of times the national grid has collapsed this month alone. But trust all these our ancestral spirits worrying us in government to only think of selling the gas sharpaly, rather than using it to drive our own development. Even if we decide to help Europe out, we need the right team to negotiate a deal lopsided in our favor, just as these same Europeans have always done to Africa. I wish any talks or negotiations can be stalled until someone like Peter Obi is at the helm. I am certain his negotiating will afford the average Nigerian lots of benefits. Unlike some others that their kids are already buying $2 million condos and spotting N300 million wristwatches without work! Wetin dem go kon dey buy if we give their papa all the keys to central bank??

Vote4ObiDatti:What is Eastern Nigeria? another we the SS/SE attach by force. You come with this fiction about gas belt is mainly in Abia Imo etc Tell us exactly how much gas is in Abia and Imo. Currently Nigeria is exporting gas Tell us exactly how much of that comes from Abia and Imo What is required is facts and figures not wild and general talk. How much gas exactly is in Abia and Imo and what is the source of these IPOB claims |

If this opportunity is well utilised to the maximum to generate revenue, it will yield returns ten times more than our GDP in the past four years. |
Re: EU Looks To Nigeria For Gas To Replace Russian Supplies by aribisala0(m): 9:56am On Jul 23, 2022 |
MARX77:Do you have any facts and figures or you just like the sound of your own voice 10 X more than our GDP in the last 4 years is over $20 trillion dollars Avoid the temptation to talk rubbish on stuff you have no clue about. How much is the TOTAL worldwide revenue from Natural Gas sales in a year? Nigeria stands to gain very little from exporting gas and everything to gain by expanding our capacity to USE gas Only Europeans will gain by using cheap gas imports to create jobs and make stuff which they export to use . Gas is ridiculously cheap and benefits those who can use it not those who sell it. 1 Like |

sekem:And the sad thing is that they are suffering it. If the tribalism thing will put food on their table, make things cheaper for them, and good healthcare, I will even understand. Atleast, they are gaining from it. But they are not gaining anything except bragging that my tribe-man is president, while the president is helping his own family to loot. CSTRR: It will not and can never put food on their table but tribalism and religious politics brings along with it some form of baseless hope for such persons who cannot see beyond their nose. The North has been in power for ages but the ordinary Northerner is not doing much better financially or educationally than the ordinary Southerner. But watch as these same Northerners will still give bloc votes to their fellow Northerner because he is their brother, so to speak, even though they don't gain anything significant at the end of the day. 1 Like |
