Then tell the federal government to build refineries or repair the other existing refineries in order for it to start working... that is the solution to all this fuel subsidy

We are talking about presidency and how Tinubu qualifies. If those other people were candidates we will relive their records.

Na so ..... You try sha

But give credit to others too when necessary because Lagos State is not a one man show.

Yes BAT laid certain foundations and must be duly celebrated for them but his Boys also worked very hard on those foundations.

Lagos State seeming success is the collective efforts of so many people and thanks to continuity of projects by successive administrations.

Continuity of projects is what is lacking in so many states in Nigeria.

Not to excuse the current set of thieves from APC, but Goodluck Jonathan foisted this bastard Emefiele on Nigerians. That bald, worthless beast is the legacy of GEJ's cluelessness, compounded by Buhari's illiteracy. The man studied engineering, then he went to work with a bank...he's not even an accountant talkless an economist. Dude has no business running the central bank of any serious country.

The next government has a lot to do.
That's why we must be very Obidient in our Civic responsibility by 2023

The same ministers Mr. President spent more than 6 months selecting. What a waste of time.

So is it okay that the country is borrowing like an out of control bet addict?

Yes, subsidy removal will cause some immediate and perhaps severe pains, but it's a burden we must face squarely.

pushing the burden to future generations is an immoral and wicked act as most economists agree. It's like a father borrowing and borrowing and leaving for his children to face. How would such children feel?

At an already unsustainable 41t debt, how can we even be talking about additional 6.23t for subsidy next year!!! shocked shocked Abeg oo

Thank you World Bank and IMFfor your warning, alarm ,advisory and others ,What you are good at is to find ways aof creating hardship, currency devaluation, job cut etc . But you have not queried why refinery is not working in Nigeria and encourage govt to make them functional, those repatriating money borrowed to the lender countries you look the other way.

Politicians have failed this country. How come we keep pandering to their whims and caprices? But my people never want to learn from their past errors. They keep repeating the same over and over again. Why would any reasonable Nigerian ever follow folks like Reno and the kogi dude with exotic cars -what’s the name again? These are part of the political class whose policies are designed to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses. They are charlatans, frauds masquerading as political analysts.

Look at the mess they have brought upon the economy, with idiocratic policies.
The looming inflation will be on steroid for an import-dependent nation. Nigeria customs have raised surface duty to a minimum of 3 Million. For some age of cars - I think 2002-made cars and upward- are paying over a million duty minimum. It going to be tough for government to further raise revenue through customs. and they don’t have the brains to think of a more sophisticated taxing regime other than using “o wo mi da” boys for a largely informal economy.

I am afraid the “Japa” exercise will continue. Many have lost hope on this entity. Doctors and nurses are leaving to west. Since this is a good export for an impoverished country, why can’t we build more nursing schools and medical schools? Train more of them and export to the west..... this is a no brainer!

Nigeria needs a radical leader, a person with the cojones to stick a finger at the hornets nest and tell the rampaging politicians, “o to ge!” .... a person who will tell the Nigeria people, “ change your way.” ..... to the churches, “ stop the scam.” A leader who can think and enact policy that would revive the dearth of the nation.

We need a Sankara!

Yeah, increase taxes and and tax people into poverty. Typical Worldbank and IMF mantra. Its always to destroy a nations local economy and make way for external cronies to acquire the nations assets for peanuts.

This financial body is responsible for the problems we have as a country, by providing loans to leaders with no requirement as to how the money is to used.

Govt is trying to borrow 1.1 trn for ASUU, why can world bank advise the govt to reduce its expense, repair refineries or explore other forms of revenue generation?

Is it not when people earn incomes that they pay taxes?

Are taxes no more based on incomes again?

There is high unemployment in the country, industries are suffocating with overheads and infrastructural decay.

Yet this people want to do tax reforms ( increase taxes) on over burdened people.

At least we now know who wants to disintegrate the country.

If you collect taxes from people who dont earn income , its called extortion.

Same buhari said he has never heard of any such word as subsidy and tinubu aided him,

Same buhari and tinubu and their gullible followers occupied Nigeria when goodluck moved to completely remove subsidy,

Now the country under their watch has paid even more subsidy than any govt before them, yet the same tinubu that brought this calamity upon us has the audacity to think now is his turn to rule.
These people must think we are all morons. We must show them that the majority of us are not stupid.

Jonathan was incapable yet he kept inflation at Single digit for two years back to back?

butterfly777:

Stop blaming people for voting Jonathan out in 2015. Jonathan spent about 6 years in power and had proven himself incapable of helping the country. It was obvious he wasn't the answer and people just needed a change.

Before then, Buhari had tried like 3 times but he couldn't defeat Obasanjo, Yaradua and even Jonathan at first. But since Jonathan did not work, and Buhari was the main alternative then, people had little choice than to give him a try then. It is a simple happenstance and we can't really blame anyone for voting Buhari then.

But now we have a choice.

anambra geographically can never host a sea port...go and google search what a sea port is and areas where they are built..

only ogun, edo,delta,bayelsa,akwa-ibom, calabar and rivers can host seaport...anambra can not accommodate more than a river port...which GEJ built but left it useless
Nothing is impossible but even a functional seaport in delta would have helped or any other location but the political class have constantly deprived people of such. It would have reduced urban migration, Have you ever thought if we had sea port in lokoja and Delta. what it would have done to our economy?

it would have boosted both export and import but No, everything in Lagos and you think it's Tinubu that will do it since he is the one that is benefiting more from the present state of things?

We will suffer it...but, it's the best for this country.

If the dangote refinery is ready then then removal of subsidy impact won't be felt and naira will appreciate too

And in return, people would rush to invest in refineries, and associated businesses...which would lead to imports ending. There would be some improvement in the value of the naira, (not to N1-$1 MIND!) and there would also be enough cash for other things...plus if we do it right, we can do as some other countries have done and funnel it into targeted plans to ease the strike...like increased public transport spending.
