5 should be given more than special attention. They should be made one of the top benchmarks to follow.... like a law to help push the women's game forward in terms of talent spotting and player development.

Esther Sunday makes it 5. Another fine product of FC Robo.

lovewins:

We just need to study the FC Robo model and duplicate same across the country. A platform that gave us Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Monday Gift and now Onyenezide isn't one to be toyed with.

One may be luck, but four should be given special attention.

Oh

Didn't know Esther Sunday came from there too.

I really do hope that they are being rewarded financially for their efforts. I know the money involved in women's football transfer isn't as significant as the men, but I hope they get a sizable part of the deal whenever these girls leave the country.

Meanwhile, Chioma Olise was just okay but definitely not on the level of our #4, Deborah Abiodun.

I missed that synergy between Abiodun and Onyenezide. I just hope Danjuma starting Olise in the Korea game isn't gonna be a norm abeg especially in the KOs.

Deborah and Onyenezide are clearly our top 2 midfield players followed by Bashirat Amoo.

In all, Olise was decent but Deborah is just better, I think.

That their coach should be in NFF plan maybe like a official scout for all women national team or u17 coach

You didn't notice how Flourish Sabastine takes on the Korean in a 1V1 situations.. She isn't afraid to face her opponents that's the kind of confidence we need from our attackers..

Defensively she was there too...

Chioma Flourish Sabastine is the second-best player on the team after Chinemerem Esther Onyenezide. The Onyenezide of girl is a thinking player, period.

Rofiat Adenike Imuran, #14, is quite a very good, strong, fast and technical left back. She, I like. wink

She did give away the ball once though but I think aside that, she rarely put a foot wrong. Very good LB coming through at this level.

I must say you have eyes for real good players. You have already mentioned Onyenezide and Sabastine. I shall continue to watch out for your post.

Esther Onyenezide
Flourish Sebastian

I doff my hat for you girls

God bless the Falconets

The bolded often abandons her primary responsibility. In addition, she is not quick on her wheels.

Oh thanks very much, I very much appreciate your kind words but I assure you, their names didn't emanate from my fingers first.

The likes of Deltamani, Schemerkhiz and BascoVanVeli have always updated the thread on these ladies right from the African Qualifiers when I wasn't even present online.

I did my own following offline and only come here during major tournaments as I also have my hands full on the Super Eagles thread and on twitter.

So thanks again, but you see those 3 monikers, they have always made ref to these lasses. I am just another who's super-emphasizing it.

Flourish Chioma Sabastine. The Star-Girl of this 2022 Class.

An excellent ball carrier. A wonderful take-on specialist. Her ability to switch wings and still be as effective is quite remarkable.

One thing that actually wows me about her is the ease with which she can move or twist her body in 3-Dimensions, which enables her to maneuver in and out of tight spaces like some Survey/Recon Corps warrior in Attack on Titan Manga series.. lol

Flourish Chioma Sabastine is the complete Forward Menace capable of playing through the middle, and on both wings.

The Koreans followed her all game and left her with at least 2 markers every damn time yet she was still able to cause some havoc like winning that freekick on our right wing in the final third after beating 2 markers before being fouled. FK from which Onyenezide attempted with her left foot.

This shows you just how dangerous Sabastine can be in any phase of the game. A Complete Forward Menace.

According to report from Nigeria, she is unattached. She plays for no club in Nigeria. How? Anyway, Nigeria is confused.

Lol. grin Which ginger? Na you dey the field?

Maybe cos I've been watching the age grade teams for quite a long time maybe. I don't think we're as powerful as we used to be. I set high standards for them in my head,

As against the France game, we improved in our passing. By a huge margin. Very impressive. But we must improve in our attack seriously. Mostly individual play. It's good for now btw.

I've not seen some of the other games. No time. I won't estimate or predict again so I don't turn out wrong again. Whether positive or negative.

Some of the fundamental skills in soccer: passing, trapping and looking. Most of Nigerian players hardly look around when on the ball hence errant passes. The trapping of the ball is totally lost on some of the players.

The battle between Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens is the reason why she is unattached right now.

She used to feature for Edo Queens in the NWFL but pitched tents with recently crowned 2021/2022 Champs, Bayelsa Queens but it didn't go down well with Edo Queens and a battle over Sabastine ensued.

Below is Sabastine (the girl behind the big money prize cheque next to a woman official) with Bayelsa Queens on the day they were officially crowned NWFL Champs. Nicked this off the header of the NWFL acct on twitter. Lol

Which were you referring to in your earlier post?
Then you didn't understand the post. I was saying that the entire U20 is at a lower level than the women's afcon. Our squad included.

Our U20 squad will not beat our female senior squad nor win the women's afcon.

That's what I meant, not that our U20 squad are more matured than the remaining U20 contenders. Everybody there is still at college level our team inclusive. So comparing them with AFCON heavyweights not possible.

France's 3-1 win over Canada means we will finish as group leaders . We will likely face any of USA or Netherlands...It's highly likely to be Netherlands cus they will beat Ghana and even if USA beat Japan, Netherlands will top them on goal difference rule... cus I don't see USA beating Japan by a wide margin..

And you didn't understand my response... Cus I clearly asked where you get the info that 90% of the players there are college players when the official squad list show that majority of them are attached to a professional football team in their countries...Aside USA and Canada, most countries there have their players attached to professional women Football teams..

But of course, I don't agree that this u-20 would have won the WAFCON..Youth football and pro football aren't really the same at both the male and female level... I believe part of the reason we perform so well in youth football is because we have the talent... At this stage, talent wise, we are ahead of most countries..And it's easier to coach younger players... but unlike most countries, we don't have the infrastructure where these youth players will develop their game to full pro level ..

Another good game from the girls.. We dominated them again... To be honest, I was quite surprised that the Koreans tried to park the bus. Obviously, they respected the fact that we posed a serious threat to them.. I feel we could have scored more if we time our shots better.. We had some good chances that were wasted... Coach need to work on that...

On to the quater final we go!

Yeah, I noticed they go 5 while defending.

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:32pm On Aug 15, 2022
That’s speculative.
If the US beats Japan, which I suspect they will and Ghana decides to exit in a blaze of glory by tying Holland, which is plausible, then that changes who we might be up against.

I wouldn't write off Ghana just yet.
They have nothing to lose and might want to make a statement before exiting the competition.

The intensity has dropped. If you followed the Oshoala set, you'll easily agree. Especially the fans. But that's not just us alone. It's all the teams. But at this level still, powerhouses still have their reputation.

Usa
France
South Korea
Japan
Germany

Now you can't first of all beat a team like France, with players from Lyon and PSG and not be pumped up. And on a night the showers were heavy again, we still showed up down to the last minute. Give them their accolades.

As for the last match. Despite their own reputation, they recognized the facts from our france game and made their own tactical adjustment to frustrate us. Normally, they go rate us, and that showed, even with their attitude when attacking. But they respected us enough to pack the bus and that's fear too. Vice versa, we all know we'd be wary of such teams.

They still bossed them all rounda, except for shots at goal. I, personally, was already happy it would end goalless. Then Esther came through.

As for that attack, you're absolutely right. Someone needs to step up whenever's Flourish isn't threatening.

In conclusion, these girls are on full confidence from these two wins due to the calibre of our opponents, asides their own achievement prior to this competition.

Seeing Usa and Germany being schooled should tell you why it will be a diff ball game this time. We are part of would be winners as it stands, provided that attack comes alive like the defence and the solid midfield.
