Your wife and child were supposed to be your home ties. I believe the VO was ready to grant your visa before you indicated they (your family) were coming on vacation.  That sounds like migration to them. Your wife and child were supposed to be your home ties.

I might be wrong**
hmmm....thanks for the review. Actually, he felt it could be because his father is sponsoring him, while he's married that's why he's being denied.

Hard to tell - as quality of school is always a big determination and you don't list the school.

Hacking was probably the wrong word to use as the Consular Officer is likely to see that as a fraud indicator.

I disagree with the notion that your family might visit you was the turn of the event.
Thank you. Actually he Included the school details in his response to the vo. I mistakenly left it out while typing here. Just realised I didn't include it.

This was exactly how it went...

Visa Denied
Lagos
17th August 2022
MPH
Black American lady
COA-46k
RA-21k
Deficit-25k

VO: Why this School and course?

Me. Public Health basically talks about preventive medicine. It's easier to prevent illnesses than treat. As a medical doctor, I have managed cases where patients presented with complications and endstages of diseases which could easily be prevented. Diseases like hypertension, diabetes, Cancers could be prevented leading to less morbidty and mortality. Also, Nigeria has been plaqued with atleast 5 emerging and reemerging Infectious diseases like Ebola, Lassa.. with this degree, I'll be equipped with the skills and knowledge inwhich I'll use to mitigate the problems of public health in Nigeria especially when it comes to chronic diseases and infectious diseases.

I choose Charlotte because I'll be opportuned to work with and be mentored under a renowned professor of Public health, Prof... who's research interest is purely on chronic diseases and Infectious diseases and it's tandem with my line of interest.

VO: Who's covering your deficit?

Me: apart from my research assistantship which covers my welfare and part tuition, my dad Prof... who's a Prof of business management, university of ... for 25 years and also a public servant for over 35years... (cuts me short)..

VO: I'm sorry...
If I am getting u right, then u are a medical doctor going for that course.
With the brain drain of doctors in Nigeria, It is suspicious to any VO.
Attempting it in a lesser known uni is still suspicious

Lol. It's too late for me to reapply. I'll be sending in another application for spring in my school as my school doesn't defer admission. I'll change my location to Abuja. I'll then find one proper coat to wear on that day. Lol
Good! And make sure you put on a tiegrin But why do I have the feeling that you will be approved? Make sure to know what has changed in your application before your next interview.I wish you success.

I think she just didnt like us cos i was right behind him . She asked me just 3 questions & by the third question, she was already typing & not paying much attention to me
She asked why the course & the school, travel history & sponsor. Nothing about current job, post-degree plans or even relationship with sponsor
It's now clear, in my own opinion, she didn't want to approve your visa.

My discipline is Electrical Engineering. At the moment I am preparing for my GRE and it has really been demanding. Combining work, family and trying to study has not been easy, but God has been helping me.

Please help!!!
Phemi93:
Good morning Everyone. I was denied in Abuja on Monday. Was a very hard pill to swallow because I didn't really know what went wrong. Please see my transcript.

First Attempt
Course: MSc Computer and Information Sciences
School: New Mexico Highlands University
COA: $24k
No funding.

V.O: I see you are going to NMHU for your Masters in Computer and Information Sciences.
Me: Yes Ma
V.O: Who is funding your studies?
Me: My stepdad, Mr Bleep will be shouldering the responsibility.
V.O: What does he do?
Me: He's into large scale agriculture and a top supplier of livestock and poultry products to restaurants and supermarkets in the Southwestern part of the country. He's also (she cuts me short)
V.O: What's your plan after studies?
Me: I'll be returning back to my present place of work to assume a senior role as a senior I.T specialist but my long term plan is to set up my own I.T consultation firm.
V.O: Is this the only school you applied to?
Me: No, I also applied to the University of Alabama and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
V.O: Did they all give you admission?
Me: No, I was rejected by the University of Alabama.

Typed for a short while and passed me the green paper and whatever statement followed wasn't of any interest to me. She wasn't really looking at me throughout the interview. She was on her mouse so I'm sure she was going through my DS 160 which I filled well enough and stated my job roles clearly. I just don't know what went wrong. I need opinions from people for my next trial.

Good Morning House Please I will need your contribution on this matter.
I was expected to start my Masters on September 2022, fall quarter. And I immediately applied for an expedited emergency interview on the first week of July, after seeing that the earliest scheduled appointment interview date was on July 2023, (which is a year after). Rescheduling visa appointment dates have been always April and July.
After gotten no reply for weeks I called and sent messages to the embassy stating the reasons why I need to be scheduled a visa interview by mid August. The message I got on my mail this first week of August is not happy at all. And I will like to know if it's normal. See below:

Dear U.S. Visa Applicant,

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Embassy/Consulate. Your request for permission to schedule an emergency appointment has been reviewed. We regret to inform you that your request has been denied.

Given the high volume of demand and limited resources we are unable to schedule an emergency student/exchange visitor visa appointment at this time.  Please continue to check for student/exchange visitor visa appointment availability as we add appointments when our staffing increases.

Hello everyone, I got visa denial on 17th of August in Abuja. I applied for J1 visa. My sponsor said I should reapply but unfortunately there is no date. I have submitted a new ds160 and on my profile no date shows up... I've checked yesterday and today and no date.

Please how can I get date for this month or very early next month.

Hmm. Well, there's actually brain drain of doctors. However, I have seen alot of doctors going for their postgraduate degree and were issued visa. And it's public health some of us are going to study which is very important for Nigeria at this critical time.

University of North Carolina at Charlotte isn't a lesser known university. In North Carolina, after Chapel Hill is Charlotte. So I doubt the choice of university is an issue here

Going to emphasize this. If anything US visa policy encourages brain drain. A Consular Officer is not thinking "oh got to keep the doctors in Nigeria." And agree good quality school.
