I agree, I know someone who is doing an MBA in one of the lower ranked universities and they keep pushing them to go get placement but are not helping them to even connect with potential employers.

They also ignore the fact that UK companies do not really have placement programs for MBAs so the students are chasing an illusion. 1 year placements are for undergraduate degree programs extending it to 4 years instead of 3 years, MBAs usually go for summer internships not 1 year placements, but they use the placement option to dangle the option of an additional year of working in the UK in addition to the 2 year post study worker.

Bro what abt healthcare management (MBA) ,is it a good course?

In the UK, most people doing menial jobs earn 10 pound/hour.
For student:
You can work 20hrs/week. That's like 80hrs/month, which is 800 pound. Worst case, you get like 700 pound.
700 pound = 560,000 naira.
Reason it's advisable to come with a dependant cos you will struggle to pay bills and pay fees as a single person. Same is obtainable in other countries..America, Canada, Australia. (Students are always limited by number of hours they can work).
If you have a dependant that works full time, he/she can make up to 2500 pound per month (at minimum wage job).
2500 pound = 2million naira.
Now 2500+800 = 3300 pound, worst case 3k pound for couple per month.
3k pound = 2.4million naira.
Their expenses cannot exceed 1500 pound per month, so they can still save 1500 pound (1.2million Naira). School fees payment is in instalments in most schools. So they will be fine in the long run.
It's difficult for most couple to save this amount in Nigeria. In abroad, you must work to chop o. Everything is systemic, you can't rush!

And how much goes to tax from this 800 you converted to naira for a single person?
Then rent
Insurance
And then utilities?

He mentioned that the expenses cannot be more than 1500 Pounds. And students are exempted from council tax. Only dependant get to pay and it's not much. It's more about the bills

I don’t have any problem with people doing that though but I just can’t because the entrepreneurship blood in me won’t agree with that action

Watch out for fulani and cows, and if they eat your crops make sure you don't confront them. And after even a successful harvest keep serious dough to settle roadblocks. And finally don't get kidnapped on the farm. These are just some of the reasons oh not all. Shalom

kudos to you!. Abroad is not meant for everyone. Uk is not meant for all..we fail to articulate the positive part..if uk didn't favor u..look inward and know how to improve yourself. Uk has been a life saving for all the people I know including my family. I do advice people to evaluate the employability ratio of the courses the want to study in uk.

Tell that to thousands of people who invested in agricultural projects only for Fulani marauders to destroy their investments or disruption of activities because of the insecurity ravaging the country.

Or to my friend's wife who abandoned her farm before the first harvest in Epe after she was kidnapped, spent a week in the mangrove and was lucky to be released unhurt after her husband was forced to pay ransom.

Most students earn between 700-800 pound after tax. They have some kind of tax relief cos they don't earn much (PAYE).
In the UK, your earnings get better after school. Means you and your partner can work full time.
Also, all my analysis is based on Minimum wage. You do the minimum wage jobs while looking for something better to do.

It's still the same thing. After your expenses, I have stated what you can save at Minimum wage Jobs (whether in Pound and conversion to local currency in Naira). You & your partner stand to earn more after school- as two of you can work full time and also explore other options to earn more by looking for something professional.

£1500 is for couple. Advisable to come with your partner - make things easier. Most countries doesn't allow students to work full time (USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA ETC).
Even in the UK, the law is relaxed. I have seen students working more than 20hrs without any wahala. It's up to you to know how to balance it well with your studies. Though I won't advise any student to work more than 20 hrs/week. But I have seen single students paying off their fees, pay back what they borrowed, buy cars as student and pass uni with Distinction. The hustle is different for different people!

Pls I'm saying this to everyone reading, if you have that kind of money kindly move to Canada instead. I'm in Canada at the moment and I'm wondering why people run to the UK.

If you come here as a student you won't go back cos you'll most likely get a job. People get citizenship here in 3-5 years.

Don't dash UK your money pls. UK made their Visa easy for a reason. I beg make una think well

You just spoke my mind. I had the opportunity of sending my spouse to UK for post graduate studies but when I thought about their immigration policy, job opportunities and high tuition fees, I have to rescind that decision. Of course, the process usually takes a bit longer in Canada but I'll rather wait than jump into a decision that I might regret later.

Because of how much this thread has trended, I'll drop one sure route of how to live in any eu countries as a family without hassle permanently. This route works well with a couple.

Instead of paying millions upon millions to go study in the UK without assurance of permanently stay, apply to study in Portugal instead. Then you and your wife would be giving student visa and any child born in portugal becomes Portuguese citizen at birth if the parents have lived in Portugal for at least one year.

And as the parent of a Portuguese child (also an eu citizen), you can move and live in any country in the eu with your child. It's not a privilege, its a right. It's far far cheaper to study in lots of countries. Why do people kill themselves with the UK?

Especially that the UK in practice drafted cunning laws to kick you out when you're done studying. Please operate an independent mind when travelling. Don't just follow others. Search each countries nationality law, see what it takes to be a citizen and fashion your plan towards that. Survival journey is not for the reckless.

I know someone whom I adviced five years ago that went through this route, and now is chilling and living large in Ireland, without the hassle of visa and all the harsh rules associated with it. As a parent of an eu citizens, you're basically a citizen yourself in practice just that you can apply for citizenship in maybe five years time.

If you also want to study, then take your eu child to any Scandinavian countries, where education is free. Establish your residence there and study foe free, live without fear of immigration and a straight pathway to citizenship. God touch my mind today normally I don't give this kind of information.

Blacks in the UK are broke, and it's disgraceful. If you want to see wealthy black citizens, you'll have to go to Australia and New Zealand. These countries harbours the best of black people.

Oga panso sense no go kill you.

I honestly don't know why there is much rush to UK and co. Like you just pointed out, Portugal and a host of other countries are way much better than the UK in terms of having favorable international immigration policies but we are all just blinded by the rush to live in the United Kingdom. I don't know whether it's the "Kingdom" that's in the UK that making us obsessed with it

Right from childhood, I grew up to see my parents using the word "British" do describe a person that's cunning. I did not really understand until I was much older to grasp the reason why Britain is associated with cunningness. Those guys just want us to invest our hard earned money in the guise of giving us good education, but they have an ulterior motive: to exploit us and send us back to where we come from.

Nigerians are follow follow. I came to Europe as a student myself and in less than a decade, I became a citizen. I saw the UK, but I avoided it like plague.

Firstly, I decided the course of study, then study the immigration policies of every single European countries. Then applied to study in countries with good immigration policies. I choosed Finland.

All my Nigerian classmates back then are mostly fininish citizens, except those that doesn't want or can't pass finnish language citizenship exams, but still they are permanent residents. As a student, I was working and earning and tuition fee was free then.

And if I really wanted to study in the UK, I'll go through my school erasmus exchange program and study a semseter there for free. I know back then that if I enter UK, na suffer I just subscribed to.

Also, UK before brexit was not in the schengen zone. So a UK visa can not make you travel whole of Europe. UK was a total disaster to my strategy then. During holidays then, I'll go hustle in other countries with my finnish schengen visa.

Only if people seek their own path and not follow follow. And of course, study every country immigration policy before you put head, it's your survival at play here. And yoy have nothing to fall back on.

You were able to make the right choice because you took your time to study the immigration policies of all the countries in Europe.

How many Nigerians can do just that? A lot of us are just too lazy that's why we often end up being duped by fraudulent agents or using our hands to rope ourselves into deep shit because of misinformation.

If lot of us can carefully do as you did; dig into various travel destinations carefully, we will not only avoid falling into the hands dubious travel agents but also choose countries that will make it very easy to achieve our goals.

A lot of Nigerians suffer due to intellectual laziness. They think being educated is by degrees but it's more about how you conduct your affairs. when I see so-called students using visa agencies for the admission process, that's the first bad sign. It shows intellectual dependency.

You're right. The world belongs to the courageous. The independent mind and the one you seek their own path. Europe is difficult, but it's also easy, it all depends on the path one takes.

Also, Europe is a place that reveals yourself to you. If you're lazy and dumb, you go know, nobody will tell you, you'll just codedly enter the stage of epiphany and accept your suffering based on your limitations. grin

School here is hard, so no bribing of lecturers. Women won't look your face if you're bringing only money and a fake accent to the table, and you must be on top of your game, or the system will deal with you. Make I no change the subject jare. cool
