Godwilldomyown:Going to visit my loving and caring husband...sounds like a very well rehearsed line. Tone it down so it'd sound more real. Going to visit my loving husband. VO: What has changed from last interview... Myself and children have missed my husband so much he wanted us to come stay with him throughout his study period and I got approval from my employer to resume my duties after the long vacation proposed. But I guess we're denied for wanting to stay for that long. But I miss my husband and would love to see him even if for just a few weeks...*show some emotion here*... so this time I only applied for 6weeks annual leave. Even the children miss their dad very much... ...my father inlaw just sold a landed property where he realised x.million Naira and shared y.million Naira with my husband to support his study. That's additional money to support my trip to and fro with the kids. Wish you God's best. |

Godwilldomyown:6 weeks also seems like a very long time to go for vacation. I would suggest saying 3-4 weeks because it’s more realistic but open to hear other thoughts here. |

Hi guy, please help me answer this question: For someone that wants to apply and attend an interview with a child (2 years old), do they need to open a separate account for the child on the cgi portal? Can you just add the child to your application without opening a separate account for the child? |

Godwilldomyown:On the question, what has changed? I think you should build a more solid answer, saying they previously allowed you to go that long and now admin has changed, so unreal! And so your children too would have just been out of school for that long? You have not given a genuine reason why you were initially allowed to stay that long, no establishment public or private in Nigeria can let you go on leave for that long, unless it is a sabbatical or due to ill health or something! *I stand to be corrected, please. So, it looks like you were trying to japa, then they denied you and now, you have modified the story, so it sounds better…. remember you are initially considered a japa material, until you prove otherwise. Even saying I was anxious bla bla bla is an overused line, just go straight to your why? Oh, initially, I was taking my lectures online or performing my service online due to bla bla bla, and I wanted to stay with my husband for the period of his study, since I could combine work and still be with him, being that we have not stayed apart for that long, since we got married. But now, I have a new admin and I was only given 3 weeks of leave for the Christmas break, bla bla bla All the best! |

I had my interview in Abuja on the 18th and it was successful, asides my transcript which I told myself, it is only fitting I also share (being that I was only able to read a drop box of transcripts, because people shared), I also want to share some of my general experiences throughout the process and hope it is useful to someone someday. 1. It probably sounds cliche, but I am going to even scream it, “everything that happens in the physical, is controlled by the spiritual.” Pray, pray pray… everything about my process was a smooth sail, not because I did anything special, (I can’t even lie) but I held God on his shokoto like Jacob, if you don’t bless me, I won’t let you go. I got my EA approved in two days, got a date with my EA, my interview was under a minute and nope I am not fully funded… so many things sha, you get the gist. 2. When you read people’s transcripts or experiences, try to just take the gist and leave the experience, I see a lot of people internalizing bad news and already being shaky and stuff! Don’t do that, read transcripts or watch youtube videos, take the L and move on from it, don’t even discuss it, “ahhh people are getting denied oh bla bla bla….” It is tempting, but please don’t. 3. Follow your heart, it may cost you more and look foolish, do it anyways. So, even if it turns out bad, you know you did done everything you could have done. For instance, I live in Lagos but I came to Abuja for my interview…. based on the transcripts I read, I just said you know what I think I prefer Abuja. Did I start to regret at some point , yes I did… by the time flights started skyrocketing again, plus hotel bill, then the terrorism ish at some point, I was just like, who sent me oooo 4. Read transcripts and watch Argo visa tips 5. On the day of the interview, dress properly… this is for my ladies, cause most guys I saw were actually looking good, but I saw quite a number of ladies and I am like, worapuned my dear ![]() From unironed clothes to funny looking outfits (like wearing a dinner gownish outfit with a rubber slippers), not saying outfits are being judged but then, you can’t be saying your father can afford a US education bla bla bla and you don’t have light to iron your cloth, for an interview you knew, you will have, come off it *in Taooma’s voice 6. Limit your bobo and stop shouting, the goal is to be audible not scream. It is just a window, separating you from the VO. Maintain eye contact, use your own accent and be audible; don’t scream please and don’t be going on and on, like a script. For instance, I got closed ended questions, so I answered in the yes and no format, oh you are going to Georgetown right, yes, I am. I did not start reading off about my course of study or bla bla bla, because it is a closed ended question. If she had asked, why are you going to the united states, ehen, that is an open ended question, I am free to include and minus, until she interrupts or asks me to stop! 7. I did not do any group mock, I could not even bring myself to listen to the mocks, cause my mind did not just carry it and the experience was making me jittery, but I did one private mock with a friend. To my initial point, know what works for you, follow your intuition, ask questions (both nairaland and whatsapp groups) when you are unclear. These are all the things I remember so far from people I saw getting denied in front of me and other observations. Thanks to every single person that has contributed on this forum to make it what it is; @walspring, thanks for a seamless SEVIS payment, I was really worried and all, but you came through, @Shannon, thanks so much, your response increased my confidence, @moshkom, @chiberta, greatestman, nigpatriot… thanks for your contributions. All the best guys!!! |

To my transcript (it was very very short, and almost all closed ended questions) Date: 18th Aug Venue: Abuja School: Georgetown University COA: 108,000 Scholarship: 35,000 Deficit: 73,000 Transcript: Me: good morning VO: good morning Me: passed her my passport and I-20 VO: yaa, thank you VO: you are going to Georgetown, right? Me: Yes, I am VO: and you work with bla bla bla Me: Yes, I do as a manager in the international tax unit (needed to say that, because my LLM is in taxation) VO: who is funding the deficit? Me: My father who is a co-owner of a telecoms company that provides infrastructure support service *she interrupts at this point VO: where does your ex-spouse stay (personal question to me) Me: In abuja VO: okay, I will be approving your visa bla bla bla Me: thank you and takes the white paper, pretending to maintain beauty and composure while my mind was dancing AwiloNext day being Friday at 4pm, I get a mail to go and pick passport at DHL, and that is it guys. |

buccy:Congrats! When did you apply for EA? Any tips for getting approved? |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by buccy(f): 6:37am On Aug 21, 2022 |
Talata24:I am generally not a long story person, I like going straight to the point, unless I really have to. So for EA, I wrote not more than a five liner, saying “ Please, I have admission in so so school, my resumption is on so so date, which is now within sixty days. I think I ended with, I will be happy, if my request is granted or something like that! Attached my visa fee, sevis fee, I-20 and passport data page, I think. |

I wrote you on WhatsApp. I've already started the application for the spring 2023 session. For me, funding is the most important thing. Had an admission for fall 22 into South Dakota Mines, but no funding, got denied twice at the embassy. So, something truly has to change about my profile. Did your admission come with funding/assistantship? vickieberries: |

Good morning everyone! Pls I need some help or guidance. So last year, my husband applied for interview at Abuja when Dropbox wasn’t available but instead got a September 2022 date with it. Now, he applied for F1 visa in the same Abuja but with a different email and the EA was denied. I’d like to know if it’s possible for him to log into the portal for the B1/B2 date and change it to F1? And also change the MRV receipt? Now that Dropbox is back, he can now do b1/b2 via Dropbox Pls I’ve been asking lots of questions here but no has replied. Pls I desperately need an answer. |

Please, after evaluating your credentials on WES, you finally have an evaluated copy. Can you forward the copy electronically to other schools or does WES have to be one to send the evaluated results to the schools of your choice? |

Hey! Dear Spring and Fall 2023 applicants, Quick One: It’s ALWAYS ADVISABLE to apply to your ‘Study Background’, esp the course you’ve your last degree on. You easily get POSSIBLE OFFER (funding and/or assistantship) from there. Some Graduate Advisors (not all), would let you know that “I can’t work with you because you don’t background in this and that” Don’t forget the game is to get a possible better offer (funding) from graduate schools not JUST ADMISSION. You can easily fine-tone your Resume/CV to a propose course of graduate schools application but you can’t fine-tone your already earned degree. You can also easily switch to your desire course of study when you get to The USA. Again, This Path is for THE BEST in PACKAGING not a test of Heart Desire. GOOD LUCK GUYS! - MOSHKOM (my opinion, which might count or not) |

Lochinny91:You’ll might have to pay a new fee as the visa fee receipt probably shows that it’s tfor b1/b2 tourism so you can’t use that for F-1 |

I am supposed to resume at NIU August 15th but due to the unavailability of the interview date I couldn't resume. So I deferred my admission till January stating in the letter the reason for my deferment. Can I still be considered for tuition waiver despite my deferral? |

Greattestman:Hey! Yeah, he can use B1/B2 account for the F1, even with same old receipt (if still valid). Just call the CGI, ( 09 461 4000 ) to complete the updates. But you can SURELY use same portal and valid fee interchangeable for both. Since it’s sane fee then 67,200. And for EA, it’s always 50/50, not by pass cgi record. Luck! |
