Good day to you all, pls i have been worried since morning. I scored 263 in the just concluded UTME exams, do i have any hope of study medicine and surgery in EBSU If yes, what are my chances of gaining admission?
Unless you're from Ebonyi state or you have a strong connect in the school, or you have money to buy admission slot, change to another school and probably change course also.

Thanks, God bless you. The reason I'm ignorant of this is cos it's my first time of writing and I'm just 16. But is it possible for me to make it on the first list?
It is very possible dear but you have to be optimisstic in all ramification.

Are you from ebonyi state or it's catchment area? If you're not you have to make the Merit list, with your score that's unlikely. Change to a school that writes post utme
I'm from Enugu state which is also one of the catchment areas

The cut off mark for medicine and surgery is 250, and I'm from one of the catchment areas

Forget what the cut off mark is, if you're not from Ebonyi state your chances of getting medicine in ebsu with that score is low.
Change to a school that write Post utme, change to NDU and prepare well for the post utme exam. Forget all this talk of optimism it won't give you admission.

It is quite unfortunate bro, some individuals love going contrary to and conversing some certain things which is not meant to be. I am in the opinion that people should literally mind how they talk to their fellow human in this forum and abtain themselves from being critic in the view of others.

Won't you rather hear the truth that sounds like "hate speech" than listen to something else?. He's saying the truth, the chances that 263 will give you medicine in Ebsu is quite low, tbh. There's a chance, don't get it wrong, but it's very low. Like he said, change to a school where you'd do post utme and make it up with it, NDU is not a bad one if you ask me.

This is the problem some of you have, you don't want to listen to those who have passed same path and you said it's your first jamb. See, if i had someone who advised me or even knew this platform earlier than I did, I'd probably have gone farther now. You're saying a guy got in with 243, do you know strings he pulled?. Do u know if his father is a dean?. Provost?. HOD?. Do you know how much he may have paid?. Do you know his state of origin?. 243 will not give you medicine on merit in any school in Nigeria, quote me anywhere, any day and anytime.

I know I'm talking too much already but if you're(I'm talking to aspirants and students generally) in this platform, things should go easy for you because there a lot of minds here that are willing to offer you pieces of advice that would make things go smoothly for you. In all, I wish you the best.

To say the honest truth last year my aunt was an HOD there, but she recently got a promotion, which I don't know what it is. I'm not displaying pride, but with her can I get in. Cos last month she had me send her all my credentials. Can she really help me. Please reply, and pardon my insensitivity

do they supplementary lists for medicine and surgery in ebsu

do they supplementary lists for medicine and surgery in ebsu
Good evening bro,
Let me just add some things to what has been said already.
1: Your 263 can get you medicine in ebsu but, that's only if you have enough money or you are highly connected, since you're not an indigene, you won't be admitted with that score.
I'm from Enugu state too, when I applied for admission the cut off was 250,and as a non indigene, you gats score 30 marks above the cutoff that's 280 upward, before you would be admitted on merit.
Where the catchment comes to play is if you have like 276 to 279.
The cutoff was lowered to 230 last year due to poor performance, but from the look of things it might return to 250.
2:As regards the supplementary list ,there is no medicine in supplementary list, just anatomy, physiology.
My advice is,like my Chief above pointed out,
You either change your institution or you change your course.
*You can also apply for predegree in ebsu if you are sure of your self.
*If you are sure of your connection you can still apply.
Ebsu is one of the easiest school to gain admission in medicine.
**The guy that was admitted with 243 as you said, must have paid close to a million naira to get in,or he is heavily connected.

It is okay man. To me personally, What i hate in this life is Pleasing someone including you and it seems to be very appaling irrespective of all odds. The bitter truth is medicine and surgery is very competitive, only the survival of the fittest will emerge victoriously. I don`t always like giving people hope but as a state university that score is still enough to suffice him a slot in the medical school, though i forgot to point out the specific policy of Ebsu merit admission procedures which must be known to him which you already itemize above. Relax fellow, you will still get it just rely on God that you will.

During my time the cutoff was 250,I got in with 293.
As regards your chances,if you are sure of your connection or you have enough money to pay your way through, then apply but if you ain't got none of these, then change your course or institution .
*You may as well register for predegree, few of my colleagues got in through predegree.

Admission is now regulated with JAMB CAPS, even if your father owns the school, if you don't meet the cutoff for your department and the school sends your name to Jamb caps, it will be rejected. The only thing your aunt can do is to influence the cutoff to accommodate your score, which is very unlikely depending on general performance.

In a school like Uniben that does PUTME, cut-off for PUTME qualification is 250 and the probability of somebody that got 250 entering is low unless there is a general poor performance in JAMB otherwise it means the person has to have a minimum of 90/100 in the PUTME.

In addition to what these experienced men, RuggedFighter and CaptMaxino have said, the following are my humble submissions, as it seems you're not aware of some things that occur in the background before you eventually see a seemingly innocent admission list.

Well, your chances are 50:50, Prepare for both.

With your score, you're walking on a tight rope.

Many times as I have observed, Uncles or Aunties collecting your documents and all is for them also to try their luck, it may work, it may not work, they can even stick your documents in a drawer and forget about it.

There are literal levels to the strength of connections (2G, 3G, E, H, H+, 4G, 5G), this is analogous to the fact that there are levels to having "legs" or "Mouth" as regards admission process.

In some cases, people influencing just have to make a call and forward the documents that's all. For others, they have to visit the place by themselves several times to lobby. For some, a thick brown envelope would do the trick. Yet, in some places you have to do well and also be the biological child of the staff forwarding your details. Where some people would be told there's no more space, someone else has three slots.

Similarly, you can't expect the request of a lecturer who has only a PhD to be prioritized over that of a Professor who has been HOD two times, Deputy Provost and is now the current Provost. As regards influence, some Professors have more clout than even the Vice Chancellor.

So my dear brother it's not as simple as just forwarding your documents. As I said earlier, prepare for the two eventualities.

I hope it all turns out well, eventually.
