But poster what are you on about? You have since concluded you can't marry a man earning below 100k so drop it!

But I'll tell you you're quite myopic, I know someone who got married to a man with a very good income, unfortunately months into the marriage he lost his job and it took them about 2 years before things could stabilize.

So what will you advise her do? To leave the marriage?

Do what works for you and let everyone be, you even went to the extent of screen grabbing someone's post, to prove what? At least he has started his life and family and by God's grace better days are ahead.

What do you mean screen grabbing someone's post?

Did the poster make his post Private? Is it not there for all to see.

Why is it now a crime because I used it as a point of reference?Chillax abeg.

Look, for your info, his post stemmed up from my post and I never guilt-tripped any body for creating a post in Re: of mine, so what's your point?

I'm not mocking and will never mock anyone.

How am I supposed to add value with my income that cannot sustain me alone as a single? Or you now forget how the same you men always kick against the woman depending on the Man for her needs? Now you want a woman to add value to his 100k. No be only value, na value bread * * chuckles**.

A man that woke up and says he's ready to settle down should be very very ready and not depend on any woman. I'm speaking from the men's perspective now. That's how you men tell us not to depend on our husbands money. So i won't lose myself just because I want to add value to a man in carrying out his responsibilities.

I gat "me" to take care of as well and the money never rish me.

You are 41 Years Old, and you are still making this kind of Statement.....

Wait ....

The cost of running a home isn't entirely a man's responsibility....

And if you're a woman and you feel that because a man asked your hand in marriage, then he should be the one to foot the bills because he wanted marriage and kids.....

See, God will never allow some men to get entangled with female who doesn't understand home economy.

Home management is a very serious quality that men should look out for.

I wonder why you think that your work is to pray instead of to work to also support a man....
And if you think that you can't manage home or a man's little earnings... then stay away from such men... and allow women that will scale the fence to do so.

Do you know this Lady Said she is Already 41 years old?? shocked
yet very selective

Nowadays, no lady is willing to manage life with anybody, marriage is not a bed of roses, life happens, the fact that one is not financially ok today, tomorrow things can change. If u reject ur destined life partner today cos of his meagre income, how then will u manage ur home if the other person u married para venture he looses his job. Divorce or cheat on him right?

Our mother's used that. Our older aunties and sisters used that. It's not like it's new in Nigeria.

These are the prices we pay for our little cuties.

If you don't know how to tie it,get a mama to teach you. You put some cut old wrapper first before the napkin so the excreta will settle there.

If you have washing machine, all good, soak with bleach and hot water if stained and toss in the machine.

Did you see the rewashable diaper she posted?, I'm not talking about the napkins our mothers used, I was referring to the modern reusable diapers if its highly effective in terms of containing excreta and absorbing urines...

Most times, it's not about how quality the things you feed your children or buy for them are, it's more about the love you shower them when giving them these things.

My parents didn't have enough, like real poor but if you see us when we were much younger, you would think that we were Ajebo or Fresh Kids, even when I go to hawk in the market, people do pity me and some voice out by saying you are too fine for this.

100k is more than enough to run a home, it all depends if you marry a sensible lady. Personally a woman can't ask me how much I earn, I will just shout on you anyhow and if I even do, I will tell you a lie that I earn way below that amount, my mum and sis don't know how much I earn, when my curious sis asked, I told her 60k while my mum never bothered to ask, that's how you know the difference between a married woman and a single lady.

I spend way above 100k monthly but I don't like being bothered or asked irrelevant questions and I do ask for urgent 2k and 5k a lot, so we can't live together if you are a broke lady because you can't assist me.

There's no amount suitable for running a home, it's all on financial management, when I buy clothes I go to Onitsha and my 50k would buy me clothes worth 120k in the local market, the more reason I don't date jobless or demanding girls because they don't know how difficult it is to earn money and can't strategize.

You see now?
Why mocking her for sharing her sincere thoughts?

You men are a bunch of embittered entities riddled with complex issues.

You're feeling intimidated now you see a woman who planned well before taking up a responsibility you men are not willing to wait and plan well for.

All you said, e remain for your body. It doesn't stop her from giving her baby the desired life she has planned for her.

Sorry to say but you are assuming wrong or should I say is your felt when he laid his opinion about her being a single mother. The guy said so because saw from his own perspective and what he judged her with is how she presented herself which might be wrong.

If she can take care of her baby with the said expenses she mentioned and seems easy for her why not?
Men can do the same as they know how to manage even with the money they had. Is all about how you manage your income. You can't tell a man when to marry because the economy is bad. Is his choto their children even with the money they had. Is all about how you manage your income. You can't tell a man when to marry because the economy is bad. It was his choice and the consent of the woman to come together regardless of the turn of event. To each their own Sha.

You can be cheering the previous op on how he managed to care for his family but you wish you don't end up like him or marry in his kind of situation.
Respect people's opinions please no need to be bitter or can't unnecessary.

If the man makes 100k monthly and u make at least 80k too, the problem would be a bit light and u won't have to use napkins on Tor kids. The eco pack(biggest size of pampers) isn't 10k yet and it contains close to 100 diapers which the kid can't even finish in a month. The problem here is, women are only focusing on what the man earns like they just want to be married and do nothing financially. Na women be the problem abeg.

Don't let nairaland men cheer you into the gutters. They celebrate poverty more than anything. And stop comparing 500k to 100k abeg. Leave that mentality.

Someone who earns 500k will not use napkins for his child. Be realistic. You can't cope with a 100k with a family. You'll end up borrowing. I'm talking about this present economy o. Don't know what tomorrow will look like. But for the now, don't be deceived.

You are mocking, don't sugar coat your statement.

100k is enough to run a home monthly.
You got food at home(at least on sizable bulk),
Recurring expenditure will be
Light bills, diapers, baby food, emergencies and all things been equal these can't exceed 100k monthly.

So don't put too much pressure on yourself.

With your statements,I am not sure you will last in marriage, because you said if your hubby is not able to provide adequately for you,you will.play into the hands of other men

That's a life without conviction.

Thing is Marriage isn't meant for you.

Nairaland men are not celebrating poverty.

They are only trying to cheer poor people up, everybody can't do pass their self, and it's not every body that can commit crime to pay bills.

I understand what Nairalanders are doing, nobody like poverty, talk more of celebrating it.

Napkins kwa
Who will wash it ? Is it the wife ? If it's the wife you don't expect him to care , that's how they do

So far as they won't be the one to do the dirty work it's all good

Not to talk of the amount of time and effort it's takes to put on , how many times you'll need to change and wash coz wet clothes with pee or faeces can cause the baby's skin to react and so many other things

This man doesn't know what he's saying , he's a wicked man

This is why I'd rather do everything myself than to have someone do little and still complain of everything
Does he know the amount of skin problems babies has back then?
No he should just buy poo bowl for the infant and keep it there so he won't buy either panpers or napkin

100k isn't much right now, and I agree with you. However, what will you be contributing to the upkeep of the home?

It's 2022, and you will be foolish if you thought that women can't play the role of providers. In fact, women are going all out, neck to neck with men in various fields and professions.

I currently earn 100k, but I'm looking forward to moving up the ladder. If I'm to get married today, my wife must at least earn 50k.

Stop making life more difficult than it already is.

Exactly!!!! It's very easy for them to say but you see all of them flexing their muscles here, they will never touch that child when it poos. They'll immediately dump him for the mother and go their way.
Only the woman is supposed to be touching and cleaning poo.

Thank your my dear sister for pointing this out.

**Bear hugs and kisses for you**
God bless you!

A better life than we had is all I'm about in my post but someone up there is already laying curses upon himself saying I'm mocking people.

How people can't see the angle im drifting is baffling but I'm happy you got my drift. God bless you.

Ok, like I said and you pointed out, diaper is one aspect, what of feeding? Ok, some will say do exclusive. What of other unplanned expenses in-between because with children, you can't predict.

Will you be happy seeing your children looking hungry and tatared.

A woman told me recently that it makes her worried sick each time she sees her children looking lean and she can't help because they are now on 101 meal. She said, anytime she gets something, she'll rush them with food like for a week but if in one day they revert back to the usual 101 ( which has become the norm these days in many homes) they'll drop immediately in that one day and look like they haven't eaten in weeks. It broke my heart. I don't even want to go into much details of what I see around every day.

It is well.

But is it a law to have children ?
Some people want to have children just for having them , make the pikin come follow Dem drink garri dey look their face

See it's easy when only you are broke and you know it's just you and when you compromise but it is natural t want the best for those under you , siblings or your own children , when you're unable to give them the better things in life , you'll hate yourself

Whatever thing he's doing sounds okay to him until he has the child ,and the person who's going to feel most of the heat is his wife , most good mother's always want what is best for their child
And he may look at it and think nothing is wrong but she definitely won't and if it were me , it can lead to a fight

I saw one where the hubby tried to save money to the point where he never bought a single cloth for his daughter since she was born , it was all hand me downs from her big cousins , he even took from their neighbor , he said "nothing is wrong with it , they outgrew them and it suits her better" grin there's levels to this thing

Yes it happened in real life , our co-tenants and the wife always complained to my aunt
They separated after the second child , she even tried to allow a second baby come in

Leave them. All of them are here shouting but they are the type who won't bother when the children look like bones. Only the mothers are always running around looking to cover the shame that's why they are supporting a woman should marry in any condition and learn to grow. Hardship! that's their own understanding of growing.

Nigerian ladies have been feeling the heat of working 9 to 5 jobs and caring for kids, running home cooking etc, let the men double their hustle and work harder to meet up instead of demanding that young girls must tolerate their poverty and be co-provjders.

The most annoying part is that these men will still cheat and start running after side chics if they make it and become wealthy in future
