Hello Ketima,

I saw your post about sowp on thread 21. Please if I am applying alone, is it advisable to indicate in my application that my spouse would join me or not?

Ketima:

Hello,

Recently, we have seen that people can enter Canada months before resumption of class. But have it in mind that it's not worth it if;

1). You don't have family to stay with
2). You won't need to pay for house rent
3). You won't need to feed yourself

I assure you that no need wasting the precious money you have coming here early cos you can't start work until your class resumes. So you will end up spending the one you have. I must tell you, without work, coming here on time is a waste.

I’m writing this to give a bit of hope to people still waiting for their PPR given that i was in the same situation few days ago. Phew! it was a long journey that began in 2017 after attempting and researching on various routes to relocate to Canada. Express entry, provincial nominee applications, coupled with IELTS tests all expired without any success. I eventually made via study route.
First-time applicant, having read almost all the information about Canada study visa on here, thread to thread, page by page, morning and night. My application took 12 weeks and some days before I got medical request. Before I got the request, I decided do a medical upfront. It is easier and faster to apply together. She can always join you later when she wishes. Do SOWP alone takes a longer period

Hello everyone, so I arrived in St John, Newfoundland and Labrador 3 days ago and I must say settling down has been so tough which a lot of people i met said it was normal. I wasn’t able to get an available airbnb close to the location that i could easily access and had to settle for an hotel, paid for 3 night which will elapse tomorrow. So I don’t know, if there’s any association or anybody someone knows here that could be of help in terms of accommodation for just a few days, most apartments I’ve been hunting for said even if i nail them, won’t be able to move in until a new month which is still like a week away. Would appreciate any kind response, thanks everyone.

When my daughter applied, I summited a POF of 12M after paying the tuition fee. I still operated operated the account normally with the in and out but I ensured the balance did not go below 10M until approval just in case the visa officer request for an updated statement. (This may not be applicable at all times though) . Hope this helps
Ensure your sponsor have documentation to back up the POF i.e business related documents or employment.

Transition period for distance learning measures
August 25, 2022—Ottawa—Through the pandemic, measures have been in place to allow international students to pursue their studies online from abroad while remaining eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP). As the new school year approaches, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is creating a transition period for these measures. Following consultations with provinces, territories and education stakeholders, distance learning measures have been extended to August 31, 2023. But they are being reduced in scope.

As we transition back to pre-pandemic requirements, we encourage international students to come back to Canada. A transition period is available for those who may need some time to do so.

International students studying online from abroad or who submit a study permit application no later than August 31, 2022, will continue to be able to complete up to 100% of their program online without affecting their PGWP eligibility. However, study time completed from abroad starting on September 1, 2023, will be deducted from the length of their post-graduation work permit, regardless of when a student began their studies.

The extension of temporary distance learning measures will affect those starting programs from September 1, 2022, to August 31, 2023. Specifically, these measures will apply:

No more than 50% of the credits earned can be completed outside Canada to remain eligible for a PGWP.
Studies completed online from outside Canada starting on September 1, 2023, will be deducted from the length of a future PGWP.
With unprecedented interest in Canada from applicants all over the world, the department continues to set the bar higher for immigration processing. However, responding to humanitarian crises and updating aging technology to meet demands have led to processing delays and longer wait times. Our focus is on reducing existing backlogs, including for student permits. Nevertheless, despite prioritizing study permit applications for students looking to begin their studies in September, some international students may not have their application processed on time to begin their studies in person for the fall 2022 intake period.

At the height of the pandemic, measures were introduced to help mitigate the impact of travel and health restrictions on international students and Canada’s international education sector. These measures allowed international students to complete up to 100% of their program online from outside Canada without affecting their eligibility to a potential pathway to permanent residence. Prior to the pandemic, students were required to complete no more than 50% of their program online, and time spent studying online from outside Canada was deducted from the length of their PGWP.
