I do agree that masters in itself is an over qualification in alot of places around the world. All that is needed to start a career in developed countries is majorly a BSc degree. Some people have even built fantastic careers with just a trades/journey person certification or 2 years diploma.

Truth be told, the point of most people going abroad for Masters is to japa first. In Nigeria, would an MSc qualification give an advantage over BSc holders when applying for jobs? that is a big maybe. A good number of my colleagues back in school that never left Nigeria for the abroad to study after our BSc have become directors at places like PWC, KPMG, GE and other multinationals. One of my colleagues even went solo and started his own IT company - It is now one of the biggest in Nigeria today. That is the path they have chosen in life. Some of us have chosen the japa path and equally doing okay as well.
bro please enlighten me more about the japa using trade routes pls

Dude thanks, I'm a week there and I just made the best decision of my life. I actually find out I was the successful candidate out of more than 100 because lots of people were recommended from in house and didn't get it as the PC lab manager requested for me after the Interview. I'm under training and I'm very sure if I put in the work I would move up. It's world class, safety hygiene is top notch. I have learnt in a week more than I have learnt in 4 years. I can see clearly now, sky is the limit. Thanks once again. If you don't check out you actually think your father's compound is the biggest.

People here are very nice and they all helping me to grab fast so I can be a permanent member of the team, I too won't disappoint

If you have 6000 euros to spare, you can apply to study for a degree in Finland through the open route. So what it means is that you will study your first year online, and a year later, you move to Finland to complete your degree. This method is good because Finland requires an entrance exam (like Nigeria post ume), but with this open route, you skip the entrance exam and go straight to the second year in Finland.

But if you have a way of going to Finland to write an entrance exam and start there from the first year, then this info is unnecessary. But Finland will not give you a visa for the entrance exam. Now you may ask, why Finland? Since April this year, there are changes in the Finnish immigration policy. So you need to live for four years to get permanent residence, and a student visa counts toward that four years.

So imagine you are studying for a bachelor's degree course for four years, and after you are done with your degree, you become a permanent resident and a citizen a year later. What is greater than that? The application for the 2022-2023 semester ends today. If you have money, I advise you just go through this route and save yourself and your future.

Would the one year spent in Nigeria count towards the 4years for the PR

How easy is getting Phd in Finland from Nigeria?

Is the knowledge of finnish language compulsory for the open route??

No, it doesn't count towards the four years for pr, but it skipped the entrance exam requirements which the embassy will not give you a visa to attend.

About PhD, I don't know. But I think its easy. If you're qualified, you'll get it.

The knowledge of finnish language is not required. The courses are in English language.

I'm done with my bachelor's degree. I'm looking forward to my masters degree, is this solution applicable for a masters degree ?

Instead of being humble and relocating to African, Latin American or Carribean countries that are safer & more economically prosperous, Nigerians will instead
seperate from their families, sell their properties, take everything they've laboured for and go and submit it into the hands of the UK government only to get sent back to Nigeria empty handed with a useless degree.

The Nigerians who are enjoying UK today are;
- children (first generation) of those who settled here in the 80s/90s/early 2000s.
- Medical professionals like doctors, nurses.
- Students who come with a 'dependent' spouse who can work while the other studies.

Most single students & every other category of immigrants will unfortunately fall into the carefully crafted scam - the UK immigration policy.

This summarizes the UK students route perfectly. Those who have ears should listen or fall victims. If you’re not going with a spouse who can work full time to earn then it’s not really worth it. Except you’re a single being sponsored by wealth parents so you can go and try your luck.

Good you mentioned Lapland, you should apply there if you have the financial means and qualifications. It's the northernmost University in the EU, and second in the world (after Murmansk University).

But that doesn't reduce the quality of education they give. Finland is on a different level in terms of the quality of education. Abi you no feel my brain? Na finland cause am. Them teach me wella grin

It's too dark, cold and boring, that they will easily give you admissions, no kidding. They want students but most choose other places in finland. Would you rather study in a village in Maiduguri or Lagos? Yes thats how it is.

I knew lots of students there, and I've been there since I did some few courses. And its cheaper than other places, so if you don't mind these conditions, apply. Its just two years degree, they will take you easily.

But if you can apply to IT courses, then I assure that it's your sure bet to staying back. Finland regularly employ IT guys straight from Nigeria, alot of them. IT and nursing is sought after globally. None of these two courses will disappoint you.

There was one Nigerian robotic guy, less than twenty years that was employed by a Finnish company and now in Finland. Perhaps I may be speaking out of ignorance, but if you know surely that your course of study is an hotcake, then go ahead.

Yes of course. Job is Job in Finland, and it's an almost equal society where a taxi driver earns equally to a banker. Cleaners and professors lives in the same neighbourhood, and their kids goes to the same school.

If your employer gives you a work contract that meets the requirements for an employment contract, you get it. For example, it must be a full time job, pays at least the minimum wage and not a state security job reserved for citizens.

Menial job such as distributing letters at night, working for cleaning companies are what lots of students used to secure their work permit and ride through permanently residency and then citizenship. So if you are not too egoistic, you'll be rewarded.
