My first year after NYSC was way devastating than I anticipated, I has been having this kind of panic few months to our P. O. P. Knowingfully well that I would get nothing doing when u return to my state.

My mind was fixated on going to Lagos instead. But I couldn't achieve that due to unpreparedness couple with the fact that I don't like been a liability on others.

I told my brother in-law to help secure an affordable accommodation away from dad house, I knew I can't go back to that house, prior to that, I already have a lady I was seeing who was financially boyant. To cut it short, my last two months alawee combined amounted to about 40k plus, no bed, no rug, no home appliances.

I had to start from scratch, I bought rog carpet, (one I know I could afford), bought paint, did a little anger furniture, painted the one room apartment, then money finished undecided

I had to rely on my gurl friend for feeding and other little expenses I needed to sort. Then I started applying and going for interview, I slept on the ordinary Mart for almost a year with my gurl friend who would leave her well furnished house to sleep on the mat with me grin. That's the much I could say, things are not exactly the way I want it now but I'm able to find a quick solution to my predicament.

I can say I'm employed but very underemployed..
Life without job? One could die of depression and loneliness.

The world economy wasn't built to support 8 billion people and technology has really reduced the number of hands needed to do any job. You are a marine engineer. In the olden days see how many engineers were needed to man a vessel now due to technology we need at most 4 and currently research is going on to build completely unmanned vessels so the number will reduce from 4 to maybe 1. Technology is erasing a lot of jobs. The world isn't meant to be as populated as it is currently. Third world dwellers in Africa go feel am pass oyinbo. Birth rates in western countries have dropped astronomically but the average in Africa is still 5 per woman. Asia has a lot of population but mind you the bulk of the world's manufacturing is done in Asia and such large scale industrialization will always provide jobs at scale nothing like such in Africa and Africans are birthing like fools.

That is true. World economy was not built to withstand 8 billion people....Never!!!

The world isn't meant to be as populated as it is currently - I guess the world needs constant wars to keep the population in check. The relative peace we have heard between 1945 after signing war pact to now.
In 1900, Belgium population and Philippine were 7m each but as at year 2000, Belgium population was 10m while projected to be 11m by 2050. Meanwhile Philippines was 76m as at 2000 and it is expected to reach 127m by 2050
As at independence in 1960, Nigeria had a population of 45m but 77 years down the line, it has times more than 4 to be close to 220m and for a country with a small land mass, the population is way way way more than what the land and resources can sustain.
My manager who is working under me has 3 kids while me the Oga wey dey earn far pass am they fear the 2 wey i get sef.
It is just like the poor and the illiterates are very careless and don't care about kids control and welfare.
If you know what it means to have a family - wife and kids, you will never want to have more than 2 kids.
I also believe that one of the reasons why many people are very poor can be seen through their decision making. Anyone poor and have 2 kids above is a reflection of his decision in other areas of life. These things don't hide.
If you can have such kids with meagre income, it is very easy to know the kind of decision you will make financially, educationally and other aspect of life - A careless man.
I know what am paying monthly for my kids educational insurance incase something bad happens to my enemy, they have been planned to atleast finish their education up to university level. I enrolled my family for NHIS medical insurance, i am still planning what to give them when they graduate (cash or land) so that they won't start from scratch, is it the family outings or vacations to plan? with all these, only a FOOL will have more than 2 kids if your monthly income is not up to $2,000 per month living in Africa.

I swear you are a very wise man. I also like that you are planning for even the unfortunate things. I wish my uncle was like you. He also works in oil and gas and was just eating his money until he got laid off now he's in the village. The kind suffering wey choke am eh dey fear me sef. We are just too much Nigerians didn't even have issues with employment when our population was low. My dad was able to work as a bank clerk with wassce in those days. Now you need at least HND or bsc for the equivalent of that kind of work.

Let just keep thanking God for his grace and love, things are really happening people are going thru a lot in this so called Nigeria, even if u get the job u eld be under paid...
My own story was not same as the topic here. I was very fortunate and with God's grace and good decision I took made me where I'm now.
I could remember vividly during service was posted to kaduna, I don't like Der and I relocated to abj. But my parent are on the note that I shid stay in kd this and that that I shud start from little.
I won't say God isn't faithful he is a majestically God. I revolt my decision and still stay in abj where I served in abj was retained there as a permanent staff immediately after service my story is like dat of a man awaiting his final exam result.....I got the job exactly 23rd of March immediately they gave me employment letter and I gave them all my bio data and of course my acct details Nigeria govt gave a full lock down. But luckily for us we were paid all thru that was the saving grace during the lock down for my family cus it was really tough. My parents cus of the lockdown situation now result from my earnings and wic sustained the family. Thank Gid for good decision and grace of not ......it is well and everyone ready this by God's grace he/she wld have course to smile and honor and glory wld be restore back to you. You will get a job that wld change and turn everything around fir u and the family .... God bless u

Let me encourage someone today. My story is what I don't wish anyone here. Since 2011 I have not had a reasonable job. None has paid me up to 100k. Got married 2014 still without a well paying job. It was tough. Was living on my wife's salary which was 60k at that time till it grew to 100k.
It was crazy. Two kids and no decent job. Pressure was on my wife and it was affecting our marriage.
Then God decided to "Have my time".
Last year while I was in the deepest state of lack and after relocating from where I use to live(after several advice to move out). One week after I moved to a new apartment, I got a call for a job that the recruiter said was just for a few months and they will be paying 50k.
I had no choice and when the company called, it was one the leading multinational company in the aviation industry.
I started the job and did my best to deliver. Created a good rapport with the staffs.
When I left, they called me again for another opening on contract.
Finally I have been called permanently to fill up an opening that I have zero experience in.
My salary almost half a million. It's just unbelievable. From zero to hero. I know no one. My colleagues still find it hard to believe I don't know anyone.
But I lied to them, because I know the one who can do all things. Jesus.
He did it for me o.
Each day when I enter the office, I keep saying, "Thank you Jesus". It can only be Him.
Please if you reading this, just believe. Like He did it for me, He will do yours.

Mehn, I went for an interview yesterday in a private school. I applied to teach Biology and French. I did well in the French interview but not with the Biology because I have been out of touch somehow with Bio. I have a degree in Zoology and a diploma in French language. I'm yet to be called but I'm hopeful.

Is that what you're doing now? Just asking.

ecomalchemistt:
It is well.

No job anywhere, learn a skill or start a business.

Use the internet to your advantage.

In a country of over 200 million people, you can make a good living by appealing to just 1% of the population.

Just 1%.

To understand this better, you need to understand numbers.

Imagine you sell a product and your profit on that product is only N5000.

Just 1% of 200 million would give you something around 10 billion Naira.

The power of numbers is absolutely incredible.

Now, what if you appeal to just 0.1% of a 200m population? And you have a product that gives you a profit of just N1000?

This would amount to something around N20m.

This was how cowbell was cashing out on a low, back in the days, when they focused on selling milk in sachet.

If you know your numbers and you know how to run Direct Response Marketing, you will make lots of money.

There is power in numbers, and understanding your numbers is super incredible.

Business is a number game. Get a pen and paper, sit down, do the maths and know your numbers.
