Oga! How will local manufacture grow when the cost of production is astronomical?

How will people's per capital income be favourable when they buy local products at astronomical prices?

Biko we are not ready for local production, let's stop punishing people to keep up with very low purchasing power while making the few people who could afford local production rich. You too can invest in importation and employ people biko. The import products have value chain that needs people to service, you know....jobs will still be available within the channel of distribution.

Fix the means of local production before forcing it down the throat of people! Imagine, bread is now N1000.....biko let us import N100 bread o. Awon werey!

ALL D PETROL WE CONSUME IN NIGERIA IS IMPORTED, DOES THAT MAKE PETROL CHEAP? CAN WE CONVENIENTLY REMOVE SUBSIDY WITHOUT LOCAL PRODUCTION?
dmostcheerful:
Reno mockery the crier.
Importation isn't Nigerians problem.
We stopped rice important and the price of local rice went from 11k to 29k currently.
Cement nko?
Nigerians are naturally greedy.
Remove restrictions to easy price for locals, use that opportunity to create more production company(this will create competition among local producers) which will leads to price reduction too.
When the locally produced price is down the importers won't keep up with price there by leading to them being discouraged with importation.
Right now, due to the current situation of thing like insecurity, unaccessible local production material, lack of steady electricity Nigeria isn't producing much.

why obi will not be right when u don't understand anything like your lord, obi . you are only looking at the cost and you don't even try to find out why there is high cost of rice despite local made availability. Power ,insecurity, and bad roads were the major factors contributing to high cost of local made goods. But no matter how it generate employment. Create wealth .increase iGR and really helped when the price of crude oil was down . self dependent is another factor as we don't take our money to foreign country to enrich them anymore . So local goods are better than relying on foreign goods

Before 2015, a bag of local rice was N4,000 was the country secured, did we generate more light than now, how about our roads?

I wonder why people argue blindly, I had to Google the effect of removing import restrictions on Nigeria. I don't want to start explaining, just use your Google then come back and argue.
But if you come back and continue saying rubbish, then I know you are either wicked, blind, tribal bigot or you just hate Peter Obi for no reason.

My brother has a factory in lekki. But the raw materials he uses are sourced from Turkey and China. He cannot easily get those raw materials because of import restrictions. Meanwhile after buying those raw materials, he converts them into finished goods and exports them to Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon etc.
Removing import restrictions would In The long run benefit the economy because the finished goods are exported.

It's just like countries that buy Nigerian oil. They convert the oil to finished petroleum products that have more value than the initial raw materials.
Removing import restrictions especially on raw materials is good for the economy.
There is no forex restriction on importation of raw materials.

What was the unemployment rate in the days of Jonathan before this present lunatic took over? You created more problems while trying to solve one yet too proud to acknowledge your folly and go back! Countries that produce locally solve electricity problem first being the most expensive cummulative means of production. Go and check Ghana to learn biko. Enough!

Mumu, the restrictions is building our local rice farmers, inflation came into play too, there is a general rise in the cost of goods not just rice.

If you import everything, how will you employ the teeming population?

How will your economy expand and GDP grow?

How will the naira value shore up?

Don't be a fool, government boost production to stimulate economic activity, you want to destroy our economy because of rice?

The price increase you stated above is caused by higher demand of rice, the restriction is good, over time our production levels will meet up with demand, think of the employment and economic engagement of the populace production brings.

One of the problems of South east is because of the shop and container economics, moat of your youths are kidnappers and Ipob terrorist today because no manufacturing or production units to employ them, igbos mainly do importing business, which is one man business. You people are dull.

You be better fool, we import hundreds of other products, is it only rice we import.

Our increasing importation is why the currency keeps falling. We import hundreds of products, but rice is one product we can conveniently produce, why import it?

Anytime we import our money is going out, and our currency keeps falling, and as our population keeps increasing, import keep doing more damage because as the year goes, our import volume increases. Mumu no be only rice we dey import.

Reno obviously does not really understand Pro's economic manifesto.
What he means by "removing import restrictions " is that inefficiencies involved in the trade proccess will be removed. These inefficiencies include undue delays in clearing of goods from the portal etc and end up increasing the cost of imported goods which is borne by the final consumers.
It doesn't mean that PO will open up the borders to all manner of imported goods.
He has continually emphasized the need for Nigeria to become a "producing country"

Or it’s tinubu and Atiku that cares about Nigeria?

See eh, at least before you type ask yourself why this country got so bad since 2015 till now. Because of the evil policies they introduced.

Shup up, those are American companies in China, they are there because of cheap labor, their wealth goes back to America, it's different than importing Chinese products. It is American products being produced in those factories and production units. Since their capital is being utilized in investment and economic activity, it creates expansion, which will be enjoyed by America and Americans, because every American eventually keeps his wealth in America.Trump placed a lot of restrictions on Chinese products as president. You people are myopic and very dull. The reason our currency keeps falling is because as our population is increasing our import volume increases, and our balance of payments deficit gets higher, hence your currency keeps falling. You keep mentioning rice like rice is the only product we import. Get sense. Obi has been an importer all his life, he knows nothing about growing an economy. Very dull stupid man, this is basic economics. I mentioned south east because it's true, your youths are terrorists and kidnappers today because no employment or economic empowerment opportunities, you people only import and sell in shops, that is not how to grow an economy and state.
