Good Morning everyone!

Please who has ever has to correct name error issues on their passport? Name was misspelled and was only just discovered now (just one letter)

How much did it cost, where was it done and how long did it take?

Will it cause issues if the owner goes ahead to use it for visa application?

I saw this link on immigration's website but you know how Nigeria is

https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/request

They won't attend to your application at the embassy. All you have got to do is to change it through NIN registration (There is an office few metres from our embassy). I think I paid £45 for the correction. It will take about two weeks to come out so you can factor this time into the time you want to go for your renewal appointment.

Thanks for the reply, Said person is in Nigeria

The name on the NIN slip she has is correct, the one on the passport is the one misspelled, an error from the passport office even after all the hand filled forms smh

If she submits her NIN slip along with the passport now, will it be corrected?

NVQ (England, Wales), SVQ (Scotland) funded training/bootcamp tilts towards public funds: they would trigger NRPF). However, I'll think if the employer is registering and the employer is paying, it might not be 'public funding'; so long the employer is not #govt!!! [TheGuyFromHR to the rescue to define govt]
Check the type of training and the funding.

Thanks for the input. Found out that ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) doesn’t count as public funds

ask them to go on the NIS portal for applicants in Nigeria. There is a link for correction of data with all the necessary information and documents to provide. It is upto date with information. If it is just one letter missing or needing correction it is free .. anything more is admin fee of 30k
The person should not have signed for it. Next time look at all before collecting. It should ideally have been returned immediately it was noticed at the desk.

hi everyone,

Now that we are on public funds specifications, please are these two public funds:

- HM Government Discount Energy Bills Support Scheme which was automatically paid to my energy account last week.. i didn't request for it

- The monthly payment made to newborns in the Uk.. not sure what that is called.. is it public funds if wifey and baby are British but i'm Nigerian? Anyone whose child was paid that and still able to get British citizenship after passing all checks?

What makes a fund public fund and what make it not public fund is purely down to the government.

If they want everyone to have it then they classify it as not public fund and if not then it public funds. Government has said Energy support is not public fund and would be given to everybody

For mixed household ... the government allows the British person to claim certain benefit without it impacting the other partner and "child benefit ' is one of them

I'll let them know. I did see a link online for correction which I posted earlier but I'm not certain it's the right one - https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/request

It was collected a few years ago and the error wasn't noticed, sadly

Great. Just for completeness.
Apprenticeship funding rules for employers: Education and Skills Funding Agency (Updated: 17 August 2022)
www.gov.uk/guidance/apprenticeship-funding-rules-for-employers/annex-a-eligibility-criteria-who-we-fund#:~:text=E318
Annex A: Eligibility criteria (who we fund)
Who can apply for apprenticeship funding. Includes criteria for residency and citizenship.

Non-UK nationals
E307
A non-UK national (with exception to those that fall into the categories above) is eligible for funding if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of their apprenticeship and have permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for educational purposes) or have obtained pre-settled or settled status under EUSS.

Individuals with certain types of immigration status and their family members
E318
The individual’s immigration permission in the UK may have a ‘no recourse to public funds’ condition. This does not include education or education funding, so this does not affect an individual’s eligibility, which must be decided under the normal eligibility conditions.

Once again, thanks DeeOneBangin This will assist many. We can perhaps generalised for most (NVQ based) workplace training if linked to ESFA.

A little more digging
www.nrpfnetwork.org.uk/information-and-resources/rights-and-entitlements/education/further-education
Further education (FE) courses are funded by the UK Government for students in England through the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). Further education is normally undertaken by students age 16 or older. It also includes adult education ...
FE funding is not classed as a public fund for immigration purposes and can be accessed by a young person or adult if they are subject to the 'no recourse to public funds' (NRPF) condition.
However, to qualify for FE funding, a student must meet requirements relating to their immigration status and length of residence in the UK. These rules can be complex and are set out in detail by the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) ...

I'm aware the energy rebate is automatic and one doesn't have do to anything.

But I want to confirm if those who got a rent in April after the tax year started would also be paid?

Thanks.
