That market has projected Nigeria on the international scene, as buyers from West, Central and Southern Africa prefer the market for their electronics.

Unfortunately in the recent years, touts aided by soldiers, Navy and police personnel have made the cost of doing business prohibitive for traders. Ignorant people think that Alaba market is made up solely of Igbo traders. To their disappointment, Nigerians of all tribes own shops and plazas there.

Ojo local government is one of the highest revenue earning local government for Lagos State, because of the huge trade that runs into billions daily.

This is the second incident of touts harassing innocent traders and disgracing Nigeria/Lagos State before the international community. Alaba market surely is part of the gateway into West Africa, through the Rep. Of Benin.
