Let us wait for Peter Obi to justify the payment of the half salary and see how Zombidients and Zombiediots will jump to defend him like monkeys
Are you stupid? Must everything be about Peter obi? Can't you see how useless this government is? Are you saying that a useless set of politicians that have been benefiting from the nation treasury have the guts to talk about pro rata? Refinery has not been working but they have been paying Refinery workers salaries to tune of billions of naira. Nigerian citizens deserve the leaders they get.

The most terrible thing was lecturers going on strike for almost a year without even considering the plight of students and parents, with no sign of resumption before courts ordered them back to class.
Should they have been rewarded for going on strike for 8 months just like that, no stress? That will embolden them to go for straight 24 months strike knowing fully well that that their salary will be paid in full.
Even if government is going to pay them, they need to apologise to the students and parents

Government is not even going to pay them anything. Let them continue to be fooling themselves.

Our lectural/professoors are doing senior Yahooing. Professors whose only language they speak is Strike.
In their private businesses, can they pay for work not done by their employees? They are criminals abeg!

Most Nigerians are Criminals, even the so called religious/educated ones.
Thieves! All of them.

No sensible Nigerian should reward apc with a vote.
They did nothing wrong though. Gone are the days where lecturers will go on 6months strike, and come back and collect full 6months salaries for work not done

That is Ngige's own contribution to sinking Tinubu's ambition.

Not true.
Infact, this is a very welcome development.

The finance minister should release a statement on this because it isn't from Ngige's Office salaries are paid..

Plus was the finance minister not aware of the agreement reached between the FG and ASUU

I'm surprised everyone is venting their anger on Ngige.. the Finance minister should be called out her ministry supervises the office of the Accountant general.

Why is ASUU hell bent on collecting salary for 8 months they didn't work.

Ngige should be sacked, but that would be unjust seeing that even his boss is more incompetent than he is.

Both Ngige and Minister of education should be dropped, but you would be shocked to discover their replacement would be far worse.

This government is the worse in finding square pegs for square holes.

Worse government in hiring and firing.

I don't like the current government. But sentiment aside. Are you saying someone that didn't work full month to be paid full salary? Seriously?

Short man Devil

Ngige is a wicked man

The sooner Buhari sacks Ngige, the better for APC... The guy is seriously plotting APC downfall because Ibos lost APC ticket and he is weaponising ASUU strike for Political gains

.

I guess you are right. Same with his brother the CBN crook. They are up to something really evil but Buhari is too dumb to realize that. They are determined to make sure APC loose the election at all cost. One is using ASUU the other one will make sure naira gets to #1500/$ before the election. Watch out!

I love this...this is the right way to deal with ASUU....People are dying due to hunger but those corrupt lecturers want to collect 8 months salary without working. This kind of payment should be applied to every sector in our ministries....I know alot of workers who only go to work 5 times a month, some even dont go at all unless there is something tangible.

U know what's funny? Paying full salary isn't even a sacrifice here because the money has already been budgeted. Ngige just wants to flex his muscles.

I can't imagine how a whole country should suffer because of one man
Ngige is intentionally doing this to discredit the APC government he's serving in as elections draw nearer. He's indirectly working for Peter Obi. He himself admitted on live TV that he can't really say who's supporting to become President, that both Tinubu and Obi are his friends. Imagine a serving minister saying such.

No sensible Nigerian should reward apc with a vote.

Nobody forced them to shut the schools at the detriment of students suffering. The Labour law is clear abt "No work, No pay", despite knowing the law they still embarked on strike. Can't we ask ourselves why ASUU has been going on strike since 1970s under more than 10 different Presidents and 6yrs wastes in 23yrs?
If group of intellectuals can't provide solution to ASUU problems but always sticking to old pattern then where is the intellectuality?
Yar'adua and GEJ were all Lecturers, current Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, Fmr Minister Prof. Ruqayyah Ahmad Rufai among many past Ministers of Education was were all Lecturers and can't find solution to what group of greedy individuals are asking then definitely there is problem.
ASUU-FG 2009 agreement recklessly signed by Yar'adua said and I quote that, FG universities will be paid N1.5 trillion each while state Universities will be given N3.6m per each student between 2009-2011. Is this not outrageous, ridiculous and unrealistic request?
Go and read 52 pages MoU signed in 2009 that is why the dullards are atill sticking to 2009 agreement.

Can I ask you some questions? What is the competency in not dealing right according to terms of contract taught by those school lectures? Will it be competency to pay a road contractor for work he didn't do? Can you enlighten me on competency in these terms?

I just learnt new English Pro Rata .. I hope President Buhari starts to pay the National Assembly members and Ministers Pro Rata .. people have been on strike, bills piling up, inflation singing song and you come with Pro Rata there is no problem.. people too would vote Pro Rata ...

See as you embarrass yourself - it's standard in public service.

For instance if someone is deceased before the 15th of a month he will be paid for the number of days he was alive - pro rata

What Nigerian Students and Lecturers should do is this: Call emergency meeting, resolve to work together to sack APC in 2023 general elections and give Mr Peter Obi and Yussuf Datti Baba-Ahmed the opportunity to revamp and restore education.
