Aareona: Your problem is simple. Learn an online skill to Max out your income- try joining Andrew Tate's the real world (trw) or choose however you like to acquire the online skill then monetise it. Your job in Canada will never allow you to flex the way you envisaged it back in Nigeria. Inside that same Canada, there are girls making 100k dollars or more a month on Onlyfans- you get my drift! Those girls are not smarter than you, you just need to escape the matrix.Canada no dey sweet you because your money no dey go around wella compared to when you dey naija. Once you start earning enough money, then you can relocate to eastern Europe or you fit come back Namibia or Rwanda. If you don cross this country and you get better money - plenty of places you can live in where cost of living is low compared to Canada. Places like Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Namibia etc. Just be careful if you select Thailand, they have the highest number of transsexuals or 'ladyboys' > 6 Likes 1 Share |

tshtsh:I have been in such situations and I know what OP is saying... But this is not friendship.. it more like an acquaintance.. It's about people that shares the same interest.. I used to get invites those days for nite out by colleagues..We might not be friends but we know each other because we work at the same place... In terms of church activities, a lot of members do celebrate birthdays.. birthdays are big deal in many oyibo land no matter how poor or rich you are ,.. Is OP willing to attend birthdays? One needs to make an effort before one will be socially included... take the first step by joining and see what happens... OP said he has been in Canada for 3 yrs...So within that space of three years, he has never ran into any Nigerian?.. If he has,Did he ask him or her if he was a member of Nigerian association? Did he ask where they usually hold their monthly meetings?... even If that individual is not a member, I believe he might make an effort to help OP locate who is a member... I don't think OP is making an effort at all... |

Get PR, get citizenship, build up your TFSA or RRSP and go back to nAija with 10 - 30 k. If you can get a rental property (where a company handles the details), do that. They'll eatost of the money but at all at all, and you'll be getting income, building equity in the meantime. The issue with Nigeria is security, safety, and access. With the Canadian passport, the world is your oyster. With the Nigerian, it's your stone. Aareona: 1 Like |

OP naija people no dey hear this kind thing o until dey go. Many Nigerians are frustrated in some of these countries. I have been to UK, Dubai for business and am planing on going to France for conference. I must confess is not that easy there o no freedom and you learn how to be stingy especially in UK. many Nigerians there are living in regrets some sold even there business before going there and started regretting it.. most of this countries are good for holidays or you have a good paying job, if not forget it But one good thing about it is the environment and security... Naija sweet if you have money. 9 Likes 1 Share |

tshtsh: You're smart! You seem to be fair in your submission and I like that. Nigerians are used to poverty that basic has become luxury. So, if anyone from a poor background or middle-class is opportuned to travel abroad and when he comes home to visit, he tends to be very discrete about it due to obvious reasons. 5 Likes |

You leave in Canada and in space of 3 years, your saving is close to 20k dollars. Yet you see nothing good in Canada. I doubt if you truly reside in Canada. Something tell me that you are probably among the government recruited internet agent trying to discourage people from migrating abroad. If not how can someone who have save 20k in space of three years will be complaining of such country. Now village people dey follow you . Come back home. You don't need our permission or opinion to come back to Nigeria 6 Likes 1 Share |

MufasaLion: That man you are conversing with is an ardent supporter of Buhari. He campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2011, 2015 and 2019. He intends to do the same for Tinubu come next year. He is naturally cruel, wicked and a chronic tribalist. |

Aareona: If you can arrange it there's plenty of upwardly mobile Nigerians living in New York City, NY, Washington DC, and the states of Maryland, Georgia, and Texas. I think you would feel more comfortable there. Google pics of past Nigeria Independence Day celebrations in NYC. I don't think they have them in Toronto. Circa 2014. Time flies.

So someone can be lonely in this canada, well I am not lonely o. I enjoy life to the best. @OP. talk to people, go out, if ALL your colleagues at work are not friendly or speaking with you, CHECK yourself. You must be an annoying person. Maybe the loneliness don cut wire for your hypothalamus and dm dy see say you dy behave somehow. Moved to Canada few months ago, already have a gossip partner at work, I taught everyone at work how to pronounce my name properly, told them what my name means. My female boss, I dy help am carry her heavy bag if we jam at the car pack in the morning. They gossip me, I gossip them with sense. When I get home, I gist with my spouse about work and stuff. Next week I am attending a birthday party...i hope I won't commit, na unattached MILFs go full there, make person dy careful, HPB. plenty for this canada. Concerning savings, don't save in KOLO, open a wealthsimple account. Put your cash in TFSA.. don't over spend, you get 7-10% yearly. Do instacart, doordash instead of doing overtime at work. You will meet a lot of people in stores and during delivery. These jobs are not only for hustlers. You will know a lot of places around town when you do deliveries. Enjoy yourself mate...If you have experienced unknown gunmen and escape from herdsmen, you will gum your ass in canada. I don't miss naija and I will never do. 21 Likes 3 Shares |

Vadese1:Been here 7 months now saving at least CAD2000 monthly with triple payment expected in December and some bonus early next year. I have a formula that works for me. I send CAD1,000 to Nigeria monthly (mostly for give away to family members), pay a rent of CAD2,100 monthly , live on CAD500 weekly and save CAD2,000 monthly in canada. I don't drive yet as I'm still in the process of getting a full driving license. When my girlfriend visited in the summer we had a fight over her constant inclination to ordering for Uber rides and food online. I had a formular that was working for me and wasn't ready to mess it all up. The subway, GoTrain and buses worked well for me. My close friend calls me to complain about his wife who doesn't work but is constantly buying one thing or the other. She's always taking pictures + posting on TikTok and snap chat (LoL) while he is working for two software companies (one in US and the other in Canada). I didn't take him seriously until the last time they visited me. They called me to say they were 10 minutes away and I told them I was at the IKEA store near the house. He told me they'll meet me there as the wife wanted to buy something at IKEA. When they came I was done and seated at the small food court. I sat with my friend while his wife went into the store to buy some kitchen utensils. She later called him on the phone that she was done and he went to meet her at the cash point to make payment. To my surprise he came back enraged as she had bought items worth $962 which he had to pay. He was very angry telling me he will never go out with her again LOL. I didn't think it was nice to talk about his wife the way he did but as with everything in life it has it's good side and its down side. While they were in Nigeria he did all the spending and it is expected that he continues here. They are probably better off in Nigeria where he was able to take care of her needs (iphone, dinners, clothing here & there) as opposed to Toronto where there are big malls and shopping centers all over the place with more things to do 11 Likes 1 Share |

The truth is, the people that enjoys abroad are the people that can come and go easily. I mean people with the financial capacity with no encumbrances regarding visa or securing residence permit. It's over 20yrs I've been traveling and to a large extent, I'm inclined to agree with the op. I've always see myself as a citizen of the whole world, so going to any particular country and plant myself there is out of the question for me. Many can't come home again even though they wish to do so. Our culture too is not helping in that if you travel out for 1week, there's already undue expectation on you as if the monies are on the road to pick overseas. That's why someone that's over there for 5 or 10yrs would rather not come home. Another analysis is that most Nigerians overseas are only better off there and not necessarily better off than many of their contemporaries back home. And some in a bid to hid their sufferings in these countries would engage in make-belief pictures by snapping and posting all over social media. They know all the best places to take those pics even though no penny in their pockets. Having said that, it also very difficult to convince people back home not to come. They have to try their luck. I have friends that left Nigeria to settle abroad that later figured out they are far better off in Nigeria and moved back home and also those that abroad works out fine for and they stay over. As for me, I would rather be a citizen of the whole world. I enjoy the fact that I can be in Vancouver today, NYC next week, Seoul next month etc. 2 Likes |
