First of all, tithing is not by force, it is by choice. There is a blessing tied to every for of giving, the blessing of giving is not exclusively for tithing.

In the new testament, as long as you confess the lordship of Jesus, every thing a Christian has now belongs to Christ, that is what the scriptures means when it says we belong to Christ we are no longer our own. Now the advice on how to give is expressivly revealed in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, we are to give as our heart prompts us and not under compulsion. We should also remember that giving is like planting a crop, the more land we cultivate the more the returns. so the more we give, the more the opportunity to receive.

Another problem we have is that we see the church as a one dimension institution, when in reality it is two dimensions. The church is first a spiritual house, then is is an organisation. Every organisation need employees to run it's affairs, they need a steady cashflow, they require funds to plan activities, projects and programs. If we left everyone to decide how they gave in church the church as an organisation will suffer. So we church leaders deemed it fit to borrow a template from the old testament that worked called tithing. If every Christian gave a certain percentage of their income regularly it will be easy to plan how funds are utilised. Make no mistake about it, pushing the gospel of Christ is expensive.

Personally speaking, I think 10% is small.

If you must give! Give willingly and not under compulsion. Remember the widow that gave her last cash? 100%. It's a form of raising fund for self acclaimed men of God today.

Wealthy churches blame government for not empowering the youths while they build schools with tithe payers money where her members can't afford.

What baffles me about tithers is that they can surrender a huge amount to criminal pastors yearly, but if you dare ask for 1k, they turn to dragons.

I want to agree with the person you quoted. None of four points you raised above apply. Tithe is simply a tenth of your income. Now you have the freewill to decide or not whether tithe applies to you. Now, the bottom line is that only God can decide who truly has obeyed him, however he has given us the Holy Spirit who will convict a true believer that errs so that he or she can make amends.

My brother, God’s requirement of tithe in the scriptures is one-tenth of specific crops and livestock raised in the land of Israel only.

He never demanded gentile believers to do this.

The Israelites could not even tithe in exile.

Nonetheless, freewill giving is encouraged in the scriptures whether you’re an Israelite or a gentile. And that should be the standard for the church.

I am not against giving to the church or to those in need.

What I am against is false teachings. Preachers standing on the pulpit to tell lies and corrupted truths to manipulate and extort money from people. Telling lies that someone is cursed if they don’t tithe.

Monetary tithing is a fraudulent doctrine from the pit of hell.

God gave me the money not freeze or Nigerian pastors.

None of them actually have a right to tell me how to spend it.

I spend it as I will

But I checked Malachi and Hebrews in my Bible and found out God will have me pay tithe 10% of my earnings, although my Pastor preaches it but my conviction to obey and give tithe is far beyond what he preaches and I decided I will give God among other things my tithe. After obeying the tithing Covenant for years, even God knows I can never fail in that regard. I have no regrets.

Freeze is too infinitesimally inconsequential to tell me if tithe is legit or not.

I have far outgrown the level of been confused on this matter. I decided and that's it.

My money my rules my decision my tithe.

Gal 3 vs 29 says if you be Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed nd heirs according to the promise.

Jesus Christ is also Abraham's seed nd every believers are called Abraham's seed, so if Abraham paid tithe, then I am his seed nd I will keep paying my tithe.

Since Abraham slept with his housemaid to get a son, will you do the same thing? Despite the fact he was married.

Just evaluating your thought process.
Re: Tithe In The New Testament: Who's Wrong Between Daddy Freeze & Nigerian Pastors? by MaxInDHouse(m): 3:19pm On Nov 27, 2022
Nigerian pastors are extortioners.
Freeze is only envious.

Tithe has nothing to do with those outside the temple worship because they're supposed to pay to their Israelites brothers the Levites:

True, according to the Law, those of the sons of Leʹvi who receive their priestly office have a commandment to collect tithes from the people, that is, from their brothers, even though these are descendants of Abraham. Hebrews 7:5

Jesus destroyed that physical temple at his death and a spiritual temple replaced it at his resurrection {John 2:19} worshipers now do so in spirit and truth {John 4:24} in the New temple nobody is paid for service under our new high priest Christ Jesus {Matthew 10:8} unlike the old temple arrangement where Levites are paid for their services {Nehemiah 13:10} that's why Jesus never stepped his foot in the old temple anymore because the new temple now is the gathering of his disciples that's the only temple that calls for Jesus' attendance! Matthew 18:20

So whoever is paying tithes today isn't doing so under the New Covenant arrangement since the New Covenant was never established with payment for services rendered in our New Temple:

In fact, when we were with you, we used to give you this order: “If anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:10

Therefore if anyone claims he is a pastor he's zealous for a fine work but he's not entitled to any payment for services rendered because Jesus gave freely and we must give freely!

That is not the TITHE but temple head tax imposed on Jews and others by the Roman government because they believe the Jews were making a hell of money from people flocking in the temple:

After they arrived in Ca·perʹna·um, the men collecting the two drachmas tax approached Peter and said: “Does your teacher not pay the two drachmas tax?” He said: “Yes.” However, when he entered the house, Jesus spoke to him first and said: “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive duties or head tax? From their sons or from the strangers?” When he said: “From the strangers,” Jesus said to him: “Really, then, the sons are tax-free. But that we do not cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a fishhook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth, you will find a silver coin. Take that and give it to them for me and you" Matthew 17:24-27

Those coming to ask Jesus knew that he wasn't doing any job that requires payment of tax but they wanted him to speak against the Roman authority.

So TITHE differs from TAX!

2. Remember Judas Iscariot was their treasurer during Jesus' time. Where did they get all the money, if not from donations.

3. I am not against tithing, if you have get, if you don't have enough, use your money for yourself. God is not wicked
Asked for donations or got donations from those who wanted to give it to them? You literally read where Peter and the others asked people to donate to them? Or did those who donated to them, in following the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ, sell everything they had and give it all away to the poor as instructed by Jesus Christ? undecided

2. So the group had money in their purses automatically means they collected tithes in the name of Jesus Christ or that Jesus Christ went around asking/begging people for money? Are you this gullible? undecided

3. I am against tithing because Jesus Christ said those who are His followers - Sons of God aka Children of the King- are not to engage in such acts. undecided

2. In God's Old Covenant Law - the National Constitution of the State of Israel - which God designed specifically for the state of Israel, Tithing is part and parcel of the Tax system in the Land. So also are the offerings, vows, sin offerings, etc. They are all of them a part of the Tax system God designed for the people to follow. undecided

I don't understand
1. Is it only Tithe that Pastors preach in their Church?
2. Nobody forces anybody to pay money, wether Tithe or offerings in any church. If you go to any Church and they're forcing you to pay money, you can as well STOP ATTENDING THAT CHURCH. I can count the number of times I've attended Sunday service this year, it's definitely not up to 6 times and the churches are still running. You're the ones putting pressure on your life.
3. You pay or don't pay Tithe, Churches will operate.
Indeed, businesses continue to operate whether I patronize them or not. But the point here is to make clear that these businesses have absolutely nothing to do with the Truth of God, Jesus Christ, to the many gullible who trove daily to them believing they are somehow justified by God in their foolishness. lipsrsealed

Tithe isn't mandatory. Jesus didn't condemn tithe, let those who doesn't pay discourage those who pay cos whether you pay or not, the Heart that gives is more important than the ACT of giving
Again, Jesus Christ clearly drew a distinction there using the taxes/tithes between those who are people of God aka the Jews .I.e. those who have the blood of Jacob in their veins and those who are the Children of God aka Sons of God. But these greedy “Speak in tongues” pastors aren’t keeping food in the storehouse for the needy. They buy G-wagon with the money. A. Jesus never asked for money, yes but He also needed to pay tax,but no more to pay it and hence He commanded(money in the mouth of the fish). Now concerning tithes,

1.. (the priests or pastors don't work) , your tithes are used to repair and make the church a comfortable place to stay and worship

2.. the church also gives alms to the less privileged people and kids, since the church doesn't work, it's your money that they use(now, you are spiritually or indirectly partaking in the blessings)

3.. the priest or pastors needs to eat too and live comfortably so that they don't have to leave the part or vineyards of God in search of food and thereby not be able to work for you in the ways of God(don't know you understand)

4... tithes and offerings are not by force,u can choose to give or not.

I came back from somewhere and went straight to my shop, was very hungry and thirsty, I bought food worth 600 naira with 2 meats, sat in front of my shop, didn't want to enter inside, I took one or three spoons, then one guy(mentally unstable) won't say a mad person, came to me and said... bro, u fit give me ur food make I chop.. I look am,look my food, plus hunger,I asked him to go and meet the woman(foodseller) but he said she won't answer him(obviously cause of his condition) I had to give him all the food and went to buy another one unfortunately, food don finish, e con vex me but no Choice again.... now this story I told you (ofcourse real) is similar, you can give and not give, it's ur choice and ur money.. giving doesn't necessarily means you will recieve it back in 1million folds...

6.. we give tithes so that those that are called or have decided to follow God will not go hungry, they can be able to pray and assist people too... if they are buying private jets and all, it's not ur biz cus if you give or not, there are people who will give... God doesn't need ur money or anything, all HE wants is for you to follow HIS commands and LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR JUST AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF...

If there's any way I might have wronged you with my comments and quote, I am sorry and I didn't mean to..

2. If the pastors dey work, they will have family plus work to think about, they wont or be able to do God's work or pray for you...

Na why CATHOLIC church no want make their priests dey work or marry... if him(priest) wife provoke am,e fit curse you for Sunday morning or might not be able to answer it midnight calls for prayers or talk to you on phone,as a family man with women wahala grin

These are my own contributions
A. But Jesus Christ never asked anyone to build your churches using His name. So of what concern of His is all your bill paying, your church alms giving, your paying of employee salaries, etc? undecided

B. Again, Jesus Christ never asked anyone to site or build these businesses, hire employees, etc. using His name so why do you think it makes sense to then use His name to collect donations for these businesses? undecided

The passage you quoted is about Taxes, not Tithes. And here is the next verse after the one you quoted:

Mat 17:27 KJV Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

You can make your point without trying to twist scriptures to say what it didn't say. If we are to go buy by your logic, then Jesus later paid the tithe regardless of the motivation.

You see why you should never lift scriptures out of context to fit into your own beliefs? smiley
