Good day seniors in the house. I just got my student visa and I would study in Dundee Scotland. I need y’all advise on how to get a job (anything that can put some money in my pocket for the now) haven’t worked 9-5 for many years now. I would actually want a driving job because driving is one of my hobbies. I know it wouldn’t be easy and I’m prepared for the worst. Any hint or advise please. God bless y’all.

If you can afford it, volunteer for PM or project coordinator roles. If you do, do it with utmost diligence (at least for the sake of that elusive experience and footinthedoor, and possibly building network)
NB: PM principle stays and last, however the nuances evolves over time.

Forget about driving for now as you will need time to understand the driving rules so that you dont get yourself into trouble. don't rush into driving if it not compulsory for you .

Forget about driving jobs - the costs of getting the car + insurance + maintenance will bring the profits earnings down to what you'd earn with much less hassle just by working in McDonald's or somewhere like that.

Apply for part-time admin roles or roles that use whatever other skills you have, so that you can build up transferrable skills and UK experience. If that is not forthcoming, find a job in retail in the meantime and keep applying for the roles you really want.

Wow… How accurate shocked My car turned to face the oncoming vehicle around 8:30 am today along M54 Slip road, it was only God that saved me, all oncoming vehicle slowed down and turned their hazard lights on… It was as if the snow was using my steering… I was moved from Motorway to the Wolverhampton M54 slip road by the snow, it was a scary and funny experience today… I was really shocked and gobsmacked, I felt like my life was going to end just there….I drive BMW series 1

Is BMW traction control that very bad

Rule no.1 never drive BMW in the snow. If you must drive one, get winter tyres with enhanced grips and handling. Secondly no matter how experienced you are, if you hit black ice it’s only God and the angels in heaven that can save you.

OMG shocked shocked…. And BMW’s are littered everywhere on UK roads, you wonder if they are UK made cars… The popularity and its abundance here made me bought it…

You hardly see people drive BMW in Nigeria , but coming here and seeing it everywhere..

If you are currently in Nigeria, log on to indeed.co.uk , glassdoor.co.uk , uk.linkedin.com Search for Healthcare assistant tier 2 sponsorship, care coordinator tier 2 sponsorship or care assistant tier 2 sponsorship and then filter your search on the "date posted" section to 24hours post, Last day posts and Past 24hours post respectively then apply for these positions. This way, you’ll be applying to recent openings and your application will be one of the first and won’t get lost in the mix. Apply to as many companies as possible on a daily basis.
Also, if you can, search for some of these care companies online and cold call them to ask if they have any openings.

No, it is not on a minimum-wage job.
For a 1-year postgraduate program that starts in September, your term time will be about 10-11 months.
Autumn term: September–December (3 months excluding about 3-5 weeks of holiday as most schools resume in the 1st or 2nd week of January).
Spring term: January–March (3 months with about 3-5 weeks for the Easter break)
Summer term: April–August (4 months mostly time spent on your dissertation. The moment you hand in your dissertation, you are free of school).
The minimum wage is £9.50 for age 23 and over.
If you get a minimum wage job, you will be earning
£9.50*20 hours weekly = £190
£190*4 = £760 monthly
£760*10 months = £7,600
If you're lucky to get work hours during the Christmas and Easter breaks, you'd be able to earn more depending on how many hours you get.
The above is based on the assumption that you will get a job immediately you get to the UK but this is not always the case.

NHS London jobs pay a lil more than this because of the enhancements - HCA & WTD (Band 2 new entry - £12.99 inner London & £12.63 outer London; Band 3 new entry - £14.01 inner London & £13.65 outer London; Band 4 new entry - £15.28 inner London & £14.91 outer London) but getting into the NHS can sometimes be hard.

You're happy that you might be earning the above, right?
Now comes the expenditure:
*Accommodation: Estimated at a minimum of £400 per month (bills inclusive - Gas, electricity, water, Wifi etc) for a double room in shared accommodation. This can sometimes be higher depending on area and if you get one that doesn't include bills.

*Transportation: Minimum of £184 per month - This is based on London monthly travel card costs. Might be lower depending on how close your work and school are from your accommodation. Might be higher if you go out more often or take cabs at some point. Outside London, you might be able to get discounted yearly students' tickets for around £180 to use on the local buses. Train use will increase your costs.
For the purpose of this estimation, let's assume that you will be outside London and get the discounted ticket.

*Phone bill: Minimum of £10 a month for unlimited data, UK calls and free calls to some EU and North American countries. For calls to Nigeria, WhatsApp and Tesco International calling app will help to keep your costs low.

*Food: How do you eat? Your lifestyle will determine how much you spend. When I was in school outside London, I survived on £10 monthly for groceries (Milk, cereal, pasta etc) because I had a steady supply of cooked and uncooked food from home in London. Many people on a frugal eating plan might end up spending something around £50-100 monthly (depending on if you spend money on raw rice, beans, soup, bread etc) but this will require you to do some bulk cooking at some point to keep your feeding expenses low - the money spent on the cheapest meals eg. McDonald's wrap of £1.99 adds up to a high cost eventually.
To keep costs as low as possible, Aldi, Lidl, 1 pound stores (Sam 99, Poundland etc) are great options as they have some of the cheapest prices but you have to compare items across them to find out which one is cheaper for you.
I'd use lower ended £50 as the estimate here.

*Body care: Body creams, soaps etc come at their own costs too. Let's estimate this at £10 monthly.

The estimated total of the above with the London monthly travel card cost for trains & buses is £654 (Rent - 400, Phone bill - 10, Food - 50, Body care - 10, travel card - 184). You can opt-out of the Travel card option and use contactless which might end up costing more if you travel very frequently around the city.

The estimated total of the above with the outside London is £485.333 (Rent - 400, Phone bill - 10, Food - 50, Body care - 10, Discounted student tickets - 184 yearly broken down into 12 months is 15.333 monthly although you will usually have to pay the total cost upfront ).

Taking out the estimated expenditure from the estimated earnings will be as below
Estimated monthly wages - £760 minus estimated monthly spend - £485.333 = Balance remaining - £274.667
Balance remaining - £274.667 * 10 months = £2,746 during term-time.

Please note that the above are estimations and actual costs/wages might be higher.
Now, with the above, do you think that it will be possible to raise £10k that you most likely need for your tuition balance in less than 10 months?

This is explicit mhennn. Tnk u for thr detail and reality analysis

Hi House,
Let me paint a real-life scenario:

A) Husband and wife.
Wife got a sponsored job with NHS in June. Husband is now dependant in December.
Husband now has a sponsored job in Dec, and the employer is asking if he has any dependants?
If he answers yes, does it mean wife will have to lose NHS sponsorship n be on dependant visa with him?
If he answers no, can he add his wife later in the future?

B) When your visa status change, how long from email to when you receive your new BRP? Reason I ask is because of the below line in the successful email from Home Office (no mention of your BRP is coming in the post in 3 - 5 days etc.). Also read online that BRP will phased out 1st Jan 2025.

1. No. They can hold skilled worker visas independently.
2. Yes. The employer does not have any responsibility over a skilled worker's dependents except perhaps in the initial stage of saying they'd provide upkeep for the first month or so. Once you have the skilled worker visa, adding dependents or whatever other modification is between you and home office.

So the answer can safely be no.

The overarching issue to bear in mind though is with regard to counting toward ILR, if you're intending to switch back and forth between visa types you should check the rules.

From Home Office -

"Your partner can include time they’ve spent as your dependant on another visa to count towards the continuous years they need to qualify. They cannot count any time spent on their own visa (not as your dependant)." Read more here - https://www.gov.uk/indefinite-leave-to-remain-tier-2-t2-skilled-worker-visa/family-members

3. A few days. You might even get it delivered before the email telling you to expect it comes in.

Hello guys, after officially sending my resignation and sighting issues of bullying, harassment and threat by the company, I got this mail from the MD who is the husband of the madam. I have gone through the contract over again and the only clause that talks about 4 weeks notice prior to resignation is if the employee has passed the 3 months probation and I am only 2 months old with the company.

How should I respond?

Respond with what's on your contract while letting them know that you neither signed any other contract nor did you receive any communications to this effect and cite clear cases of the bullying, harrassment and threats referencing verifiable incidences or reports about them.
Going by your contract, you're not obliged to stay beyond the 1 week stated. Just keep your communications clean and professional, no need to resort to unprofessional language.

If I were you, I would respond to him saying:

Hi Bleep,

Please see attached a photo of my employment contract showing my required notice period within the subsisting probation period, which I have complied with.

Kindly share the provisions relating to the 4 week notice period you claim I must provide.

Best regards,

I would say there's no need to delve into the bullying terms in-depth at this stage unless they escalate and you then interact with a UK lawyer regarding how to take that up specifically, if it comes to that.

Well, if they have a specific definition of 'guaranteed hours contract', and it is somewhere written in your contract that it supersedes the notice period, then they should do well to share that part with you.

Also, the person who typed that letter certainly has beef with punctuations! Worse still, e kuma fit be English man/woman laidat. Smh.

Refer them to the section of your contract that relates to the probationary period. State clearly the date you started the job and let them know you are still within the 3 months probation.

Go ahead and state clearly all your allegations against them. Itemise each one and if possible state the dates/period they occurred.

If you've not sent him this screenshot from your contract, I'll advice you do so.

I can't agree more with Koonbey. OP is in a termination period. He holds 'em no explanation. None. Zilch.
They irony is the company, using their financial advantage and possibly access to pool of lawyers, embark on an unending civil matter against OP, using OP words against him.
Can OP win, yes he can and claim damages. However, the drain on his finances, wellbeing, health, impact on new job will be so severe.

The way I see OP (Progressivegee) going about this matter, he's not being firm enough and circumspectly articulated.
He might also been acting impulsely on too many advices. Well, I know the Bible alluded to ... Safety in the multitude of counsel ... But then, that is to reflectively reflect and act accordingly.

PS: I don't mean to be rude. Kindly don't construed my response as one. All the best
