A Quick one, I have a neighbor from Nigeria on student visa who is blind. She claims she can apply for council housing using her disability as a reason without affecting her PGSV. Can anyone confirm this? Haven’t been able to get a reasonable answers online .

Thank you

I don’t understand the reasoning why someone who is a non-Uk citizen would enter the country and assume that their disability immediately gave them the right to apply for public housing. Like there isn’t already a social housing shortage with priority given to their own citizens who are disabled or vulnerable?

It is the entitlement for me sha.

I can't agree more. Pls loud it. #Emphasise #Emphasis
Folks, be meticulous with job searching. Moreover, when it comes, the diligence will carry through into the job itself.
PS: I know some get 'lucky'
mizGene:

Also for any others out there, DON'T wait until you are in the UK before applying for jobs. People get jobs before landing, people also get sponsored jobs right from Nigeria.
Job searching is a job in itself and can be depressing sometimes, so the earlier one starts, the earlier you can take your Ls cheesy and improve and the faster to nail a good job down.

Thanks mimilyrics. Well said.
@Op, you might want to take off some of 9ja attitudinal approach/mindset.
PS: I'm not saying this in a rub-it-in or belittling or uncaring or unemphatic way.
BSc or no BSc, what will assist is to articulate, in clear concise and impactful what those Oil & Gas experience were.
For someone that's work in O&G, you'll know that it's wide, actually very wide and vast. Even the engineering side, is wide enough. Let's say we narrow down to the rig, which side were you involved with. Let's even say instrumentation, which systems, sensors and cabling were you engaged with?
NB: this is just a pointer to how you might want to showcase what it is you've done in O&G and tie it into articulating impact: how you improve, what value you brought, what ideas you conceptualised that took your unit forward ...
Inbtw, O&G from the upstream side is more of Scotland!!!

Another thing is the issue of job! Pls guys aside this menial and care jobs! Are der no other jobs one can do with my naija bsc certificate and vast experience in oil and gas ! Biko make una help a brother ooo

Knowing what might (will) happen after Feb 2023, it might in the best interest of all for a thread created: within Travel though. @Justwise
So, when ? , queries, enquiry flocks in, we simply redirect 'em there. #JustMyView

Hello people, can teachers in the UK on this platform kindly share their experience in the UK classrooms. There're loads of write ups and videos out there portraying teaching in the UK as working in hell because of some students' unruly behaviours, and consequently making some Nigerians who wanted to wanted to explore the teaching route that will be opened in February to rescind on their decision. Your views will be highly appreciated.
semmyk:
Interestingly, a year after Yemsot inspiring post, QTS will be 'relaxing' (Feb 2023)
Nigeria added to apply for QTS through the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA)
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-qualified-teacher-status-qts-if-you-teach-outside-the-uk/routes-to-qualified-teacher-status-qts-for-teachers-and-those-with-teaching-experience-outside-the-uk
NB: QTS through TRA is not for everyone. Those requiring PGCE/PGDE must continue as-is.
PS: this is not a binding advisory as contemplated in law/statutes

Please, I need materials I can read through to pass driving theory test. My firsts attempts I got 41 against 50 in multiple choice and, 44 against 75 in hazard perception. Meanwhile, cut off mark for multiple choice is 43 while Hazard perception 44. I must pass both test before I can move on to practical test.

Compliments of the season to all and sundry.

For folks just coming in with their families, especially those with much younger kids, you have a lot to do and the earlier you started the better.

Apart from the culture shocks, the differential treatments etc your young ones will experience in school and in the larger society; they would soon be directly exposed to ‘relationship curriculum’ on LGTV and all the confusion that comes with it.

Imagine 5 and 6 years olds learning about ‘dad and dad’ parents or the freedom to change your gender - confusion is about to let loose.
At this age, they are not even done understanding the male / female issue.

It’s introduction is inevitable!
However, the short term solution here, is to do the education yourselves rather than thrust it in the hands of ‘strangers-with-agenda’ to do it for you.

Your 9 - 5 jobs and shifts are necessary money-making moves, but giving those kids a solid foundation is ‘importanter’

Why don’t you try and read up extensively on it first and then come up with questions you want answers to.
It’s a very wide aspect of financial mgt and “one man’s meat (way of managing finances), might be another’s poison”

I come in 2023 peaceeeey

I was charged £35/hr. Some offer discounts on block bookings. Honestly, it wasn't easy but I made conscious effort not to think about the money been spent especially as a new driver. I just focused on learning.

Wow, but do I need a car or the instructor would provide a car for the training

Solumtoya and SemmyK have both written some good pieces on Credit Cards, so go through their posts. Also do your own research, go through google, watch videos on YouTube. And if anything is unclear, you can ask us here.

Your opinions are very valid. However, what is missing here is empathy. The lady is blind, and might genuinely feel her disability might count for something.
I honestly do not think she was feeling entitled, and it would be equally wrong for you to assume so...

The senate never said that and they have no power to say that. They only "appealed" to the CBN to extend the deadline. If the CBN refuses, there is very little the senate can do.
