Why Do Christain Women Hate Polygamy If The Bible Foretold It? by Nobody: 2:02pm On Jan 01, 2023
Wait ooo!

Most naija women against polygamy are Christians.

Our Muslim sisters have already been prepared for polygamy and since it’s a religious affair, they can’t really complain about it.

But why are our Christain sisters who are all firm believer of the Holy Bible and the prophecies encapsulated therein against polygamy?

I just don’t understand why they hate polygamy when the Bible in Isaiah 4:1 clearly prophesied that seven women will beg to marry one man in the last days. Is this not polygamy?

If the same Prophet foretold the birth of Jesus Christ, who birth was commemorated last week Sunday, and it came to pass, shouldn’t we be celebrating the coming of polygamy or the reinvention of polygamy back in Africa?

Are we not in the last days or is it that naija women just want to pick and choose which portion of the Bible to believe?

Why should we call ourselves Christians and firm believer of the Bible but hate polygamy?

Is this right?

Let’s hear from you.

Happy new year.

God created Adam with only one wife, so in God's eyes, monogamy is the best form of marriage.

Man created polygamy and under the Old Testament, God still preferred monogamy but He overlooked those who practiced polygamy.

Under the New Testament however, it is strictly forbidden for Christians.

The Apostles didn’t marry. Apostle Paul even admonished men not to marry if possible.

And if your submission is anything to adopt, shouldn’t it be that single hood and Bachelorhood is the best?

But then, what’s your take concerning Isaiah’s prophecy in Isaiah 4:1?

1. Probably the very same reason why men rail against Polyandry even though the same scriptures allow it.

2. The prophecy you quote from Isaiah 4 vs 1 clearly indicates it applies only in Israel. So the prophecy about the birth of christ should only be confined to the Jews and the nation of Isreal, right?

So why are you a Christain?

Are you saying the prophecies and prayers in Isaiah 43 and 63 does not also apply to Christians?

Isaiah 4:1

In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, “We will eat our own bread and provide our own clothes. Just let us be called by your name. Take away our disgrace!”

"We will eat our own bread and provide our own clothes"
foretold the economic empowerment of women, they only need to bear Mrs because of societal pressure and for 7 women to focus on one man is not a function of women outstripping the number of men alive but "scarcity" of men who meets "societal cut-off mark"............Nigeria with about 200 million people, do not presently have 25 million males and 175 million females rather in previous census counts in Nigeria, more males than females have been recorded........so why husband "scare"? wink

The prophecy was for the Nation of Isreal and God scattered the nation of Isreal all over the earth.

So Christmas became applicable to this scattered nation of Isreal irrespective of their location. But for some reasons, the prophecy in Isaiah 4:1 should be or ought to be restricted to the present nation of Isreal and inapplicable to other scattered Israelites, right?

But then when we as Christains pray, we pray to the God of Isreal. And then we say we part or parcel of the Biblical nation of Isreal due to the marriage between Boaz and Ruth ( a Jew and the Gentile).

And this same mixed blood was passed down to the generations which begat Jesus.

So technically Jesus is both a Jew and Gentile, we are quick to say.

Have you ever sang the song “ Abraham blessings are mine” ?

So why are you abrogating the blessings of the Jews to yourself, if you have no business with the Old Testament that is centered around the nation of Isreal?

Note: I am not challenging you. I just want someone to educate my ignorance with verifiable biblical facts.

I do agree with you to an extent. But then we have the Calhoun’s rodent utopia experiment which sorta suggest that this will have nothing to do with the scarcity of men. But have more to do the lack of desire for mating and raising a family.

I think this is becoming a reality. Men world over are having apathy for marriage.

Those who got married are seeking divorce and returning back to bachelorhood. And the Western world and Asia is dealing with low birth rate and a declining population growth.

My take is the it has more to do with Calhoun’s theory or not scarcity of men. And the economic reality et wokeness is not having Issues.

Don’t you think so

1. I hope language comprehension no be an issue first thing this year. undecided
1. At that time seven women will grab one man and say, “Please marry us! We will supply our own food and make our own clothes. You won’t have to do anything else if you let us wear your name and take away our shame.”
2 At that time the Lord’s plant[a] will be very beautiful and glorious. The people in Israel who survived will be very proud of what the land grows.
3 And all those who are left in Zion and Jerusalem will be called holy. Their names were on the list of people in Jerusalem who were allowed to live.
4 The Lord will wash away the filth[b] from the daughters of Zion. He will wash away the blood from Jerusalem. With a spirit of judgment that burns like fire, he will make everything pure.
5 Then the Lord will create a cloud of smoke in the day and a bright flame of fire[d] at night over every building and over every meeting of the people on the mountain of Zion. And there will be a covering over everyone[e] for protection.
6 It will be a shelter to protect the people from the heat of the sun and from all kinds of storms and rain. - Isaiah 4 vs 1 - 6

2. So, because, in your understanding, Christians pray to God of Israel, that means it makes sense for you to impose a prophecy that clearly indicates that only those who live in the land of Israel will be impacted even those in foreign lands? undecided

3. Part and Parcel of the biblical nation of Israel? So, because one is literally of the blood of Jacob, but lives in a foreign country, you are instead insisting that Isaiah 4 vs 1 - 6 most apply even though the passage clearly indicates that only those are left in the land of Israel itself will be impacted? undecided

4. At this point, I think it is safe to conclude you have never in fact read the contents of Isaiah 4 vs 1-6 for yourself. Scroll up if you must to see, again, how, the passage speaks of those left in the land of Israel — not of those who are not in the land of Israel. undecided

Matthew 19:5-6
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?

<<Please take note of singular on the word wife..not wives..

Ephesians 5:32-33
This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.

<<Please kindly note the phrase love his own wife.. not wives...

Genesis 2:18
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”

<<Please note the word helper not helpers

Matthew 19:9
And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

Does it occur to you that it could be a metaphor et the use of literary devices?

Now, the Ten Commandments are encapsulated in the Old Testament and was handed over specifically to the Children of Isreal.

Do you know about the forgotten Jews who are adjudged to have been the original Jews? They presently occupy part of Ethiopia and her neighbors. Do you think they are also excluded from the provisions of Isaiah 4:1?

If yes, supposes the Gentiles like ourselves are excluded, right?

Do you obey the 10 commandments as a Christain?

If yes, why?

Jesus Christ is God's New Covenant and Law — Constitution— in the Kingdom of God where all those who are born-again are citizens of, and as such expected to live by. The Law and Gospel is designed much like the Old Law of Moses(YHWH), complete with blessings & curses, commandments, teachings, statues, etc. Unlike the Old Law of Moses(YHWH), however, Jesus Christ comes with a yoke that is easy and the burden is light — about 100 commandments in total - Matthew 11 vs 28-30. So what is wrong with Christian women picking what they wish in the Bible to practice, and ignoring others? Do we not have a right to choices as humans? God ordained marriage right? Yet the Apostle Paul you mentioned didn't want to marry, he made his choice. If Christian women ignore that book of Isiah, then it is called 'choice'.

How many Muslim women genuinely love the polygamy you are talking about? They are just helpless about it because their religion encourages it, that's why we keep reading Muslim women fight their co-wives, kill their husbands, etc.

A lot of you men who read that book of Isiah think it would be a sweet experience to find 7 women begging you, but truth is that if such a time ever comes, then the male folks will be in danger, because in population number matters. If women outnumber men in an equation of 7:1, plenty women will drain lives out of the men, kidnap the men for procreation purposes, or even kill a man who refuses to give them attention. Thank God I am not born in such an era, cuz if i was born in such era I would never accept it, I would stay single, and I know plenty other women would stay single too.

Polygamy is not the solution, rather Women, need to be taught how to calculate their ovulation to conceive male children.

My Brother, I can't claim to know everything in the Bible..But I think it was for Jerusalem and Judah not everyone..

But the Bible that I use is Contemporary English Version..

You will understand the verse u were quoting if you start reading from Isaiah chapter 3:1 to the end ...

And the introduction Isaiah 3:1 says
Judgement On Jerusalem And Judah..

If you look at 16-17, it says

The Lord says:
The women of Jerusalem
are proud and strut around,
winking shamelessly.
They wear anklets that jingle
and call attention
to the way they walk.
17 But I, the Lord, will cover
their heads with sores,
and I will uncover
their private parts.

<<This verse is saying that since the woman were proud, he will publish them

Finally look at Verse 25-26
25 The fighting men of Jerusalem
will be killed in battle.
26 The city will mourn
and sit in the dirt,
emptied of its people.

<<Which means the men will die in war.. there won't be many men to go round(scarcity of men)...
Hence when women saw few men roaming around, 7 women might basically ask one man to marry them because of scarcity of men that perished in war..

I don't know if it makes sense to you though..

It is. If juxtaposed with Calhoun’s rodent utopia experiment, then we are safe to say that what befell House 25 was a curse.

Even having one woman as a wife is enough headache. Having 7 is a catalyst for disaster. Even though there will be loads of orgasm and succulent breast to satisfy the man.

But then, polygamy and Child marriage is an ongoing affair in today’s western world. How come it’s not a curse to them?

Are we missing something?

1. I didn't avoid your question at all. If you are still confused about something, feel free to ask! undecided

2. Jesus Christ did not come to outlaw the Old Law of Moses. (Again, the Old Law is the National Constitution of the Nation of Isreal in the Land of Canaan, and that Nation is meant to exist forever.) He clearly explained that He didn't right there in the context that is Matthew 5 vs 15 - 19. undecided

What do you mean? The 10 commandments is the law, it is a guide against sin, so you can't ignore Bible portions that preaches against sin. The comparison you gave does not correspond.
litigator:

Hmmmm! If I get you right, you are simply saying we can pick and choose the part of the Bible that suits us and our purpose and abandon the rest, if it will work against us.

So technically, I can ignore the part of the Bible that preaches against sin and simply move on, correct?

But then, polygamy and Child marriage is an ongoing affair in today’s western world. How come it’s not a curse to them?

Are we missing something?

Is it not curse enough that today rather than marry they are stuck in let's just date stage since their marriages can not last 3 years?

This curse started in the west since the 80s so they are well in it. Nigeria is just playing catch-up.

More Curses will fall on Nigerians as they continue to follow follow those devils!

So your position is that one can pick and choose as long as it’s not the 10 commandments, correct?

And kobojunkie says the 10 commandments is strictly for the nation of Isreal. And anyone who honours it outside the nation of Isreal is doing nonsense. How do you juxtapose these varying position?

Hmmmm! I am trying to understand you. Marrying 7 wives as posited in Isaiah 4:1 is a curse.

Refusing to marry and only dating is also a curse?
