Smiling. Anyway your research is right but my question is how do you enter the black market as a novice who don’t know anyone? Also which black market job you wan do wey go give you 2500?
The truth of the matter is that before you can be able to do this you would have someone who was already in the system or someone who knows someone that can release there document for you.

Secondly the rate ph that you will get is usually below the minimum wage and lastly the employer that would take you will be someone also in the system. There are other things as well that I don’t want to mention here
My brother, I know you mean well, but please let everyone have their own experience. Experience is the best teacher. A lot are more interested in trying to prove you wrong or even insult you instead of learning from your advise. All that from the comfort or chaos of their abode in Lekki, Bariga or Agege depending on the economic status. grin grin

Only few can fathom the true cost of accommodation in London, for example. One said you get free treatment but forgot about £10 per each prescribed drug. On what income level do you pay £100 to £150 NI contribution monthly?

Over the years here trying to advise people to be realistic, we have been asked why we have not relocated to 9ja yet.

A family going on a student visa may experience a very rough 1st year due to the fact that only one spouse works full time as the student can only do 20 hours.
2nd year will be okay when both spouse works full time. Even the worst is both couples earn £1,500 each after tax = £3k/month.
House rent PCM - £800 for 2bdrm apartment.
Groceries - £300 maximum.
Bills (electricity, water, gas) - £200
Internet - Home and mobile - £50
Transport - £200
Miscellaneous - £150
Balance = £1,300.
That means the couple can conveniently save £1,300 every month provided it's a low job o.

Save the £1,300 for 24 months (2years) = £31,000 that is 28million naira.
You can now take it to Nigeria and invest in something good for yourself. That's another income without working.
Now you get it

Without school fees for the children.

Yes sir, you R correct. Keep up the advise i lived in the North for the 1st decade of my UK stay and my rent was £550. If i was to relocate to the same northern city i lived in, i will be paying £890pm. But again you are correct.

The real truth is, the UK is designed such in a way that if you are not earning up to 20k to 30k pounds annually, and how on earth will a student ever make that kind of money--well unless you do your Yahoo! wella but FYI, FBI now works with Scotland Yard, or else you will suffer like there is no tomorrow. I dont mean you will suffer like you are in Nigeria, over here no one will feed you, you will starve, and forget all those benefits they are shouting about, its not for you, its for their own citizens, so to be truthful, if you are not careful, you will just be another guy abroad suffering more than even the people living in your own African village. On monthly basis, for a single person you will need as little as 1,500 GBP to take care of housing, food, utilities and others. 1,500 GPB is the least, I mean, we are talking extreme austerity survival here where you are barely surviving and may die of heart attack if you lost 1 pound of your monthly expenses! Don't even think of anyone giving you 1 pound to support you, na you and harsh reality. I spent over 1 year in 2018 there, I was there again last year, inflation is killing the immigrants who had fled there.
There are more people now, lesser housing, less jobs --- meaning lesser wages and higher cost of living. There are far better countries than the UK: Turkey, France, Sweden, Spain, even Norway or giving visas with far greater benefits. See that UK was built by Ijebu people, they designed it to give you only oxygen, while stripping every other benefits away from you. Forget living in Manchester or Leeds, with the insane inflow of refugees from Syria, Algeria, Ukraine and others, cost of living has gone over the roof. Plan well before you japa. I am happily here in Naija, hustling and doing, I am going to be going on vacation to any of these countries by God's grace -- I am tired of seeing on blacks doing cleaners, on farms, doing security guards, and the ones you see in every European downtown begging you for 5 euros because they are dying of hunger. You are free to insult me as well. Your eyes go clear
God bless you...

The average Nigerian artisan cannot cut it in obodo oyibo. They cannot open your device without mandatory cosmetic damage, they as a business matter will sabotage the device so you will come back, they may steal info off the device, and they almost always steal parts or pretend they replaced parts that were alright.

There is big money in trades in the West, but it is unlikely the Nigerian artisan will be able to meet up to standards and display the competence and integrity required

It takes an average of about £100k plus to raise a child up to 18 years old. Some think that peanut child benefit is enough to raise a child. cheesy grin
What you spend on a child here in one year only, we didn't cost our parents that much to raise to 18 years.

In any case, what quality of life can you give your kids relying on benefits? Imagine not able to take your kids on holiday at least once a year in this 21st century in the West? Because they are too many.

So oyinbo, aside chavs, plan their family carefully.

Dear op and respondents
Based on the Japa syndrome, these are my dilemmas:
1) I got an offer of a postdoc in US for a 2yrs stay with possible offer of becoming a faculty member (I am not sure if I will be taken as a faculty member). The pay is $65k/annum

2) with the recent offer of a QTS visa by UK for qualified teachers. I am also very much interested based on variations in the number of years US (2yrs): UK (5yrs - so I heard)

Note: I want to get into the US or UK using (but not limited to) the academic root and possibly diversify later on

These are my challenges
1) I am a sickle cell patient. I hope I am not taking much risk based on my health? How's the health system in US compared to UK?
2) on skills: I officially left music production in 2014 to focus on my academics. So, on skills, how lucrative is music production in both countries?
3) Based on academic skills: I can perform most computer based simulation in chemistry/biology including DFT experiments, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, and other computational chemistry/biology techniques with little or no difficulties
4) I would love to switch probably from class room teacher to a full time lecturer (if UK is found worthy). How possible and easy can it be?
5i) How lucrative is teaching job in the UK?
5ii) Do the country (UK) permit home lessons?
5iii) Can I combine class room teaching with other side hustle

*** My intention is to stay there for ten years and come back and invest but if I find their land fruitful, I will stay a little longer than expected

I need guidance please!

well you have a great point there bro but if they are willing to tow the path of integrity they can do good business in the uk. i remember the pakistani guy used to charge like 40 to sixty pounds to fix any faults in your computer.. of course you will pay for the shop and pay taxes and levies etc but you can survive good if you are in a good location fixing latops and computers. its the best skill to have because you dont need to be employed

There's IT, finance and manufacturing jobs. UK is the same everywhere as per jobs, the only exception is London that has lots of finance and international jobs.
Which city has no Asians? London, Manchester, leeds or Birmingham? Maybe Nottingham and southwest region. They are here just like u...simply avoid their post code area.

You are living in a godless part of Nigeria. When I drop my device, I know what was wrong (because I use it every day), if they tamper with anything else, I think they would be war because device is kind of personal.

The only time phone repairer scammed me, it was purely out of incompetence (road side cripple, he didn't do anything, read bank alert text messages and charge me)... Since then, I go to established shop were they even issue receipt just to change broken screen.

Don't dismiss the OP's concern on tax. Average tax in Nigeria is like 23% for those that pay.

How do you want to make 3k with a student visa ?

Anyway you can only work for 20hours while your wife work full time. During your schooling period you both cannot make 3k after tax and neither can your wife do a double job so the 3k is not visible.

Do you even know what you are talking about, so a skilled dependent with a full time job can’t make 3k in a month, is that UK that useless lmao. I made $8k a month as an intern in the US.

This is very false budgeting. I have lived in the UK for 2 decades.
Which city is charging £800 per month for rent?? 2bed rent is about £900 upwards depending on the city. The cities with cheaper rent are often cities with no jobs or villages.

I can tell you categorically that utilities - water/gas/electric for a 2bed is around £400 per month. Then there's council tax. As long as you have a non- student living in the flat/house, u will pay which is anywhere from £100 - £170pm depending on the borough.

This are core bills that MUST be paid before u move fmto feeding/tp to work/black tax (sending money back home), paying ur tuition, saving up IHS /course training for career advancement, personal savings.

What the thread poster said is a fact but 9ja will argue until they get here. This is why nigerians in the UK ignore the Japa crew because we can all see that they have been warned before they got on a plane but they refuse. Instead u want someone to accommodate u and ur family till u "find your feet". Forgetting that by "accomodating u, their own utilities bill goes up/feeding goes up, they run the risk of a neighbor reporting them for overcrowding, etc.

He who has ears, let him hear

If I by chance get the opportunity to a leadership position in Nigeria, I'd advise the government of the day or personally introduce a clandestine program to take advantage of the student visa route to sponsor and ship out thousands of Nigerian families to the UK make them reap the benefit of their enterprise called Nigeria.

By the time they get choked up, we'll be called to a round table to discuss a way out, then we can tell them, undo and let go of your knees on the neck of this country to also save your own country.

Common sense wey no common.
.make everybody chop the breakfast.

Before you start running mouth here please read below: the moral is that you can be poor or rich anywhere and anytime.
It has been a long 7 years! The Dangote oil refinery has finally been completed and will be commissioned by the President of Nigeria on the 24th of this month (January) 2023.

Top 10 facts about the Dangote refinery

1) ❤️The Dangote oil and petrochemical refinery is a 650,000 BPD oil refinery.

It is the largest single train oil refinery on planet earth, the largest in Africa, the 7th largest oil refinery in the world.

It is capable of meeting the energy demands for both Nigeria and the entire continent of Africa.

2) ❤️Dangote announced he would want to build a refinery in 2013, at that time, it would cost $9 billion. It was not untill 2016 construction started.

3) ❤️The Refinery was originally meant to be built in the oil producing state of Ondo state but due to lack of political will on the Ondo State Government, Dangote moved the project to Lagos state which also has oil.

4) ❤️The Refinery along with the Petrochemical plant is expected to generate $20 billion yearly for Nigeria.

5) ❤️The Refinery will reposition Nigeria as an energy hub globally

6) The Refinery has the longest subsea gas pipeline in the world with a length of 1100km

7) ❤️The Refinery will generate electricity of up to 12,000MegaWatts.

cool ❤️The Refinery is a $25 billion investment, the largest single investment carried out on the African continent by an individual and the most expensive industrial complex in Africa and perhaps the world.

9) ❤️The refinery will produce 50,000,000 litres (13,000,000 US gal) of Euro-V quality gasoline and 17,000,000 litres (4,500,000 US gal) of diesel daily, as well as aviation fuel and plastic products.

10) ❤️It will provide 135,000 permanent jobs and overall 300,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Bonus facts: ❤️The Dangote Oil Refinery will have a Nelson complexity index of 10.5 which means that it will be more complex than most refineries in the United States (average 9.5) or Europe (average 6.5). (The largest refinery of the world, the Jamnagar Refinery in India, has a complexity of 21.1.)

❤️ The Refinery has the most piles for its pile foundation on the planet. @mylagoslately

Dangote Oil Refinery a.k.a NNPC limited...the monopoly is getting cemented. Na small children una fit confuse with all these stories.

An individual could build a refinery yet, a nation couldn't revitalize existing and redundant ones. Instead, it pleased them to stand aloof, sponsor a private refinery, and want the Guinness books to take note.

Very laughable nonsense.

Make dem dey fool themselves.
