TechW: Nzeogwu's father was a servant (gardener) in late Ahmadu Bello's house so Chukwuma Nzeogwu was adopted by late Ahmadu Bello (Sarduana and the then Premier of Northern Nigeria) and was brought up in Ahmadu Bello's house in Kaduna. Ahmadu Bello was the one that gave Nzeogwu the name Kaduna and it was Ahmadu Bello that educated and put him in the army. But like all S/E Nzeogwu was a snake that can not be loved as he was the one that came back to kill his benefactor 10 Likes 1 Share |

This man started to divide this country along tribal lines by selectively killing Northern and southwest politicians while leaving politicians from his own tribe untouched. Nigeria was once together but now we are torn apart along tribal lines started by this guy. I wonder why they erected his statue and what this is doing on fp on a Monday morning. 4 Likes 1 Share |

He led the first coup haters started war against his people. Then after that what happened coup after coup. Why didn't haters fight the families of those that followed? Some of you don't even know that Buhari too embarked on a coup to topple a democratic government. Nzeogwu did his not for Igbos but for his comrades in the army and he's not the only guilty one. Abacha, Buhari and Babangida are also guilty. 6 Likes 1 Share |

I swear if you read this Nzeogwu Speech and shame no dey still catch you, you are not a true NIGERIAN. Nzeogwu Speech "This is the end of the Extraordinary Order of the Day which you will soon begin to see displayed in public. My dear countrymen, no citizen should have anything to fear, so long as that citizen is law abiding and if that citizen has religiously obeyed the native laws of the country and those set down in every heart and conscience since 1st October, 1960. Our enemies are the political profiteers, the swindlers, the men in high and low places that seek bribes and demand 10 percent; those that seek to keep the country divided permanently so that they can remain in office as ministers or VIPs at least, the tribalists, the nepotists, those that make the country look big for nothing before international circles, those that have corrupted our society and put the Nigerian political calendar back by their words and deeds. Like good soldiers we are not promising anything miraculous or spectacular. But what we do promise every law abiding citizen is freedom from fear and all forms of oppression, freedom from general inefficiency and freedom to live and strive in every field of human endeavour, both nationally and internationally. We promise that you will no more be ashamed to say that you are a Nigerian. I leave you with a message of good wishes and ask for your support at all times, so that our land, watered by the Niger and Benue, between the sandy wastes and gulf of guinea, washed in salt by the mighty Atlantic, shall not detract Nigeria from gaining sway in any great aspect of international endeavour. My dear countrymen, this is the end of this speech." VOTE WISELY O 7 Likes 4 Shares |

Kewtt: War would have still happened even without the coup. The Islamic jihadist, Sarduana of Sokoto was already pushing the country towards that lane with his open hatred of the Igbos before that coup. I am of the opinion that the coup kept this nation together because Sarduana of Sokoto probably had in mind to divide the North away from Nigeria. He every inch was a Hitler in the making. The only thing is the coup plotters who handled the Lagos part didn't do their side of the job effectively. 6 Likes |

Bantu10: Oga, Yorubas were actively involved and more in number in the coup. Nzeogwu was just the leader (false proclamation though) because he tried to stop Nigeria from being islamized This is the reason why Nigeria deleted history studies in schools 5 Likes 2 Shares |

gidgiddy: So they are Eulogizing someone who killed the paramount traditional ruler of another tribe without any valid reason? A problem of the Saudana account revealed he had only £60 in his bank account at the time of his death. Is that how to lead a revolution? Bantu10:Don't misquote me sir, I m not a Tinubu supporter. But I know the history you are twisting. Firstly, if not for national reconciliation, Nzeogwu shouldn't be celebrated. In fact, he should v been killed ingloriously before he orchestrated his death in the Biafra war. 2ndly, Ladoke Akintola that he killed was a respected citizen. The Igbos had grouses with the northerners prior to the Biafran war. It's wasn't Yorubas that were killing Igbos in the north. So why the transfer of aggression on Yoruba leaders at that time? They wanted Balewa and Ahmadu Bello. The officers that killed Akintola could v shot him in the leg or arm if he was too stubborn for them. 3rdly, he said they were cleaning the govt and spared Nnamdi Azikiwe. That's padipadi arrangement of brothers from same tribe. He was freed by Aguiyi Ironsi, that's a traitor move and at the end, he joined forces with Biafra. The whole activities later led to an avoidable war that eventually made the Igbos pay bitterly for. I m not here to justify that Igbos deserve whatever they get but we must show that while we are still together in Nigeria, our agitations, arguments should be logical. I m sure some ll still misquote me and get e-knock on their head! 7 Likes 1 Share |
