So Nzeogwu is not from Anambra state or SE?
I learned that he was brought up in Kaduna.

I guess their sin here is that they are the first to execute coup because, there were records of other coups that happened thereafter, even after the civil war.
Why are other perpetrators not been vilified too, some have been rewarded with presidential seat?

He plotted and led a coup when coup wasn’t needed. Every other coup after his was a counter of the coup that’s was start by him.

That’s why he’s been mentioned. Don’t forget that Dimka coup is also not forgotten.

Actually his coup was deadly & bloody. Others were more of arrest and imprisonment sort of.
Secondly, SE and other political zones are just a political map drawn by politicians for their own selfish gains; Has nothing to do with tribe or culture. Chukwuma Nzeogwu is Igbo by tribe.

It's not true. You can say few and those few are mostly those who migrated later from either Edo or Igala and were assimilated by the indigenous Igbos. They still attach importance to their ancestry but misunderstand the concept of ethnicity.
believe everything i told you . Uptil this day , go to Delta State (Igbo) and they'll say there are not Igbo.. period

Same way ikwerre will claim they are not Igbo

The coup reels of betrayals, Nzeogwu was never an ”IGBO” man at least his kinsmen never identified with igbos.

one thing leads to another without the coup they wouldn’t have been killings of Igbo in the North and then the war

The killing of Igbos had been happening up North as far back as 1945, Google the Jos massacre of 1945 and the Kano massacre of 1953, where Igbos were slaughtered

Yes, a revolution that culminated in the mass slaughter of millions of Igbos in a needlessly war.

Akuko. Why do you Igbos love self-deceit for goodness sake If Nzeogwu coup had not happened, there would have been no counter coup which was in response to the Nzeogwu coup and targeted majorly at Igbo officers, Aguiyi Ironsi, and Igbo civilians all across Nigeria by officers of Northern extraction. Only a disingenuous person would say what you just said coz it's obvious to the blind that the counter coup was the major precursor to the Civil war due to its macabre slaughter of Igbos in Northern Nigeria as a direct reprisal against the sectional killing of Northern leaders by Nzeogwu and his boys. There would've been nothing like Aburi accord without those preceding events. Endeavor to tell yourself the truth once in a while.

Thanks for Educating gidgiddy

the first coup led to counter coup (killing of igbo officers across all board), then elimination of Aguiyi Ironsi and others, this is what instigate Ojukwu reaction before the then Ghana President called for a roundtable reconciliation which occurred at Aburi town in Ghana hence the tagged Aburi accord after comprehensive agreement

Gowon rescinding on the Aburi accord hit the polity, declaration of Biafra follow, Ojukwu having called all igbo back to East, then invasion of Midwest to west states triggered the war

Igbo destabilize early Nigeria political settings through nepotism and tribalism

Micheal Okpara was not killed
Nnamdi Azikwe was shed, you killed other tribe leaders and protect your kinsmen yet you're talking about revolution

Prosecute those involved even when you people use coup to hijack Nigeria govt, you couldn't because they're igbo officers. if Not for Northerner early response, the rest of Nigerians would have been slave to this mumu tribe

we will not entrust our govt in their hands

Okpanam is an Igbo town on the outskirts of Asaba, capital of Delta State. Years ago, the indigenes erected a statue in memory of Chukwuma Nzeogwu, their famous son who led Nigeria's first coup

People of Okpanam still believe that Nzeogwu led more than a coup, they believe he led a revolution

Well you better read about the Aburi agreement because the military Governors of all 4 Regions signed the agreement on behalf of their respective Regions

Parliament did not agree to Gowon abolishing the 4 Regions and creating states, but Gowon did anyway. Today we have 36 states, all created by Nigerian military rulers

All four regions did not sign anything. What really happened at Aburi was that the military hierarchy came together in Ghana to work out a power sharing agreement in order to avoid an impending war. Forget that the military had just appointed some of its members as military Governors as part of the power sharing agreement as a fall out from the January 1966 coup. It had no civilian or constitutional backing.

I have searched the Internet for the actual signed agreement and the signatures on the agreement, I am yet to find one. All I am able to see is the communique of the meeting. Obviously, you can't expect the country to be governed by a communique. A true copy of such agreement should have been kept for posterity.

Now, when the military agreed communique termed accord got back to Nigeria, most politicians particularly in the South rejected it. Ken saro wiwa was strongly opposed to it, because lumps them politically them in with the igbos, and he fears domination by the igbos.

Prince Akenzua wrote a memo to Gowon stating their opposition to the accord. There was so much opposition to the accord from Mid Western and Eastern Nigeria (minorities) that Gowon called for a meeting in Benin to discuss the accord. The accord was overwhelming rejected by all other Regions except the Eastern region that failed to attend the meeting.

How can you then say the accord was signed by all 4 Regions?

No bad feeling my brother/sister, he was not the one that killed Chief SLA but one Capt Nwobosi who equally died a few years ago. All of them are now on the other side of this planet where there is no hatred. May their souls continue to rest in peace. Ignorance is your problem he is exactly the villain he is made out to be
You conduct a coup and somehow manage to kill only people from the two other major ethnic tribes and spare your own kinsmen. What a great recipe for a 'revolution'
A revolution of igbo dominance.
Led to civil war indirectly and the continued political isolation of the igbo race till this day.
So he's a super villain.
