Sometimes I hate really giving beggars money. Infact, I have not done it in years and it's deliberate.

Some beggars are richer than people they collect money from and their audacity mostly disgust me.

Funny thing is, some of them are perfectly okay and young. They just decide to look dirty and take the easiest route to making money.

Good point OP. I have many stories like yours. Let me share one of them.

There was a day I was very thirsty in traffic. I had N500 to pay for bottled water of N100. I called the hawker and he speedily ran and came. I told him I have N500 and he says he doesn't have change. I said chai but I'm very thirsty.

He said no problems that I can drink the water and don't worry about paying him. I was touched and had to leave the N500 for him.

Omo see happiness and appreciation as if I gave him a huge amount of money.

Leave change for those hawkers if you can.

But the fact is that Nigerians love themselves very much, we always show up for each other even here in the states where I'm staying, come and see the joy and happiness whenever we meet a fellow 9ja especially for club, but poverty that was caused by bad leadership has made all man to be stonehearted

While in a public transport today, a woman on my row started begging people for financial assistance.

The man sitting directly in front of me dug hand in his wallet and gave her N500. Then, others followed. She eventually got over a thousand naira within that short period.

Not long after that, the same man that gave this woman N500 then wanted to buy a bottled water, and the hawker had to run to catch up with us, because the man wanted to give him N100, and he had to collect his N50 change first before handing him the N100.

The scenario touched me!

Immediately, I requested for a bottle too and gave the guy 500!

A woman beside me shouted...Ahh, let him give you your change first before giving him money😳💁🏻!!

She looked at me as if I'm a "mutula", a new person in lagos wey dem never show😀.

As the guy was struggling to run and give me change, I bade him good bye not to worry!

The most touching part of the story is, even when I thought we'd left this guy far behind, as the traffic had moved, he ran to still catch up with the bus and prayed, wholeheartedly, in a show of appreciation!

You know why?? He knows the value of that money; he knows how many bottles or sachets of water he would sell, running from bus to cars, before getting that amount.

The woman who saw me as mutula eventually went speechless!

Lessons passed in the bus! Simple🤷🏾
