It bears to show that this man is just overrated. He's bringing nothing special to the table.

Only Tinubu looks pro people of all the contestants, but he seems also to be driving home a political point, cos he's been silent and aloof about govt policies over d years.

.
Your support for Tinubu has blocked your better reasoning part. Every reform to make the economy better is a welcome one.
This reform is fantastic. No nation can get it right when out of about 4trillion naira cash, CBN can only control about 500billion. Kidnappers , bandits, Boko Haram and evil politicians like Ganduje and Tinubu can request for raw cash that can't be traced because they know, money is flying everywhere.
Cashless economy is the best; funds can easily be traced.

Very correct. That’s 100% from Peter Obi. The same was carried out by Buhari’s government successfully in 1985. The same was effected in India 6 years ago successfully.

It will take a little time and everything will be fine. For me, that’s the best legacy of Buhari in his 8 years and the President.

How is obi 100% correct?

Was what buhari did in 1984 cashless policy?

How is this the best legacy of buhari in 8years?

How is Peter obi different from Tinubu or atiku? What makes you think peter obi is interested in the next generation?

How can a presidential candidate tell nigerians to bear suffering for cash in the midst of fuel scarcity? Is he sensitive to the rights of Nigerians?

How will cashless policy being implemented this way benefit us in the end?

How are bankers making it difficult for people to get new notes? Why do you need new notes? I thought you said cashless policy is the best?

Who created the scarcity of new notes?

Nigerians we’re sold the idea successfully by APC that PDP under GEJ was a party of looters and embezzlers. Nigerians agreed and voted massively to remove GEJ from power. The rest they say is history, with the level of poverty, misery, hardship, difficulty and sorrow pervading the land.

Nigerians have borne all every pain inflicted on them by the PMB/BAT led APC since 2015, with no form of lamentation. The only lamentation came in 2020 and was quenched by the government. Suffering has come to stay until those who blindly support another APC government for 2023 wake up.

Obi represents hope, a better and brighter future. Obi brings accountability, integrity and honesty. We are tired of looters and embezzlers.

Cashless policy makes the economy better. It puts more money into your pocket.

1. It help deepen our drive to entrench a cashless economy.

2. It is aimed at checking the increasing ease and risk of currency counterfeiting in the country.

3. It is a policy that would assist in the fight against corruption, which you vote bribe taking muntulas are resisting.

4. To control currency in circulation and reduce the overall cost of currency management.

5. It will would assist in the fight against corruption, which may be an aberration to corruption loving citizens.

Every decent country has policies in place to secure the economy and make lives better for the citizens. Difficult as it seems presently because of the shortness of time and the upcoming election, Nigerians can at least have some respite from criminals in the interim and a better tomorrow with Obi as the President.

Use debit card to make payments

Cash should be used only for little transactions

A central bank should have control of money supply to keep exchange rate reasonable

CBN policy is good all transactions should be done by Card via POS terminal or by bank transfer

This stops kidnapping and theft and also ensures tax compliance

Printing of excessive cash for circulation is evil

There is no place in the world where people can pay or withdraw millions over the counter, it's done by bank transfer for tax and money laundering reasons

How can u write all these with just one puntuation mark?

I think we all largely agree the policy was a timely one and would help address some of the issues we have been facing.

For instance the era of kidnappers demanding ridiculous sums (tens, sometimes 100s of millions in cash) hopefully would be over.

The major problem has been the speed of implementation which many agree makes no sense and is only overburdening the system.

The network glitches for instance have been attributed to the unprecedented upsurge in online transaction and demand for POS. The obvious question is, shouldn't CBN have foreseen this?

The best way would have been to roll out in phases, perhaps starting with the big cities before extending to other parts

How is the inability of Nigerians to have access to their cash "little inconvenience"?

Why should nigerians be made to suffer the inconvenience of not having access to their funds to rescue the country? Is there constitutional provision for that?

Who are those "rescuing" the country? Is it buhari and emefiele? Do they deserve to be president and CBN governor? Don't we need to rescue nigeria from such people?

When did it become the responsibility of CBN to prevent vote buying?

Please ask them ooo!

People that want to cure headache by cutting off the head.

What an uncreative way of trying to stop vote buying!

Who even gave CBN the job of fighting vote buying...I keep asking myself?

That's not wise.
I am disappointed by this remark of his.
If he is supporting it because he feels it would actually stop vote buying, not only is he being naive, but he is distancing and alienating himself from the enormous pain and suffering this is causing.
For also an acclaimed manager of resources and an economy promoter,I am more disappointed because he should know,or at least I assume he should, that this policy alone has cost the Nigerian economy several billions if not trillions in economic activity.
It's like a South Easterner supporting the weekly sit at home, when he/she is expected to know that the region is an economic hub that is dependent on the daily business and economic activity that goes on there and not by government employment or establishments.Even some small scale business owners and market men/women depend on the sales they make daily from the few that work in the public sector,so when these set don't go to work, they don't earn a living for that day.4 of such days in the month can be detrimental to their means of livelihood.

It's nice that you noticed that.

Your first two paragraphs are offpoint. What relevance are they to the questions I asked?

If obi can't respect the rights of Nigerians to access their funds, how then is he better than Tinubu or the people you call thieves and looters? If obi has no empathy for the people suffering on the streets because of cash and fuel, how then is he better than those you call looters and thieves?

How does Cashless policy makes the economy better and put more money into your pocket?

Are you supporting cashless policy because it is good or because you think it will weaken Tinubu against obi?

Meanwhile, you didn't answer my questions.

How is Peter obi different from Tinubu or atiku? What makes you think peter obi is interested in the next generation?

Opposition parties are the major beneficiaries of the current Naira chaos as they are set to benefit from the anger towards the ruling party. So, I’m not really surprised that Peter Obi choose political gains over the suffering of Nigerians. What exactly are the long term gain of the Naira redesign that will be lost if we don’t rush it with a deadline that’s a week to the presidential election?

It’s unfortunate that we now have politicians who choose politics over the overall good of the society. The chaos they are encouraging with the view to benefit from politically will end up consuming them all n the long run. If Buhari is sensible, the evil support opposition candidates are given the current sufferings should tell him that indeed something is wrong somewhere. It’s time to match the break now. Cancel the deadline and allow old and new notes to circulate together till June.

The redesign is not the problem; it’s the implementation. Changing a currency is common practice. Generally, the old currency can be legal tender for up to 2yrs. This stupid attempt to stop acceptance in 3 months is causing untold hardship for the people. Why not allow up to 1 year before the old currency expires. This draconian act just to punish certain politicians is unacceptable. And with scarcity of Naira, vote buying more even flourish more

Besides changing a currency confers no economic advantage. It’s simply an administrative action to Obi with this statement just shower his mediocrity on how the economy works. He’s only thinking of the advantage for his not the effect it’s having on people

You hit the nail on the head with all you said!

I have said it again and again...Peter Obi is not different from the other politicians...his handlers and supporters only did a very good job at packaging him, just like some people we know who will package fake products as original.

Yeah, you're right. The world is moving cashless. And I understand that reforms could be hard but it has a long term benefit when endured.

However, how would you encourage the unbanked when the banked are underbanked going by the recent happenings across the country in recent times.

I was telling a friend recently that the cashless policy is a good thing when effectively implemented but the question is, is out banking system matured enough to take enormous transactions without collapse?

You people always bring US or EU as if we are in the same level. What part of too much money is in circulation don't you people understand? If you want to pay for something use your card. We know that people are suffering, the fact is they will always suffer in any time of reform. It could have been done in a better way I believe that however, we need to make the naira a bit stronger.

Oga, that is not how to implement a policy. Cashless policy is good but you don't need to force people to adopt it. They will do so themselves when they realise they are at disadvantage when making transactions.

The following measure would've easily made 90% Nigerians adopted it within a year;

1. Heavy charges on OTC payment and withdraw (including ATMs).

2. Make ATM depense only lower domominations(100 or less).

2. 1000, 500 and 200 nairas must be relatively scarce. Print more 100 notes or less and pay people with it.

4. Make electronics transactions zero charges(at least temporarily) to attract more people.

5. Adopt a universal code for all banks that will be very easy for locals to use in sending and receiving payments.

6. Place limit on cash withdrawal on OTC and ATMs.

If Obi cannot see anything absolutely wrong with this policy and condemned the process outrightly, I am sorry to say he is not fit to be a president. Obi should understand that no matter what he did or say at this point, those who are tired of old orders will gladly vote for him, and those that won't vote for him will never change their minds. What is the point of hiding behind popular trend by his supporters to judge an issue affecting those he plan to rule? Is this how he would be bringing up unrealistic theories on Nigerians when he finally become president?
