From my own perspective. Valentine's shouldn't be a one sided thing. The two parties are meant to show love to each other. Though most times males tend to show off more than ladies as a responsible lover over her.. |

CaptainStephen:This is the most ridiculous comment ever. If your wife is not reciprocating it means something is wrong. A woman that says she love you will give you gifts in special occasions or do something fantastic for you. If you have never experienced that, that means something is wrong |

Most Nigerian girls are selfish. 1) Nigerian girls receive gifts during Valentine 2l Nigerian girls receive gifts on their birthdays 3) Nigerian girls receive gifts during Christmas, New year and other festivities. 4) Nigerian girls even expect you to give them gifts during your own birthdays |

CaptainStephen:As much as i share same thot with you doesnt make it right, thinking about it now i don't think i owe any babe or Ex even 1k ... buh that doesnt justify relationship should be one-sided, becos love is sharing. so don't bring Big man into this, i think sharing & reciprocating is what authenticate LOVE ![]() |

Offpoint1:This is no correct though. We have peddled this idea for too long and this is causing problems in many homes. A woman should express love through giving just as much as a man |

CodeTemplar:The Bible is very balanced. Have you read Proverbs 31 before? Read from verse 10 to 31. Giving and providing is not the exclusive responsibility of a man in marriage but Africans with their half baked religious doctrines have placed too much burden on men |
| Re: Why Is Valentine Day A One Sided Affair In Nigeria? by TheGift: 9:06pm On Feb 14, 2023 |
CaptainStephen:This does not answer the question. Even for the not broke and not young; I went to a major gift store to shop today. 9 out of 10 people getting valentine gifts were Men. I think it says something about Nigerian Women & Men and their orientation towards valentine and giving gifts. I find many Women and girls are immature lovers when it comes to giving monetarily and or materially . It's not about whether they have money or not; it's a general orientation that needs to be looked into by individual Women and Men . |

Iamzik:I understand what you are saying but that Proverbs 31 is hard to explain to any lady who doesn't want to be hardworking and contribute. Even the part about a man providing for his household isn't literal but figurative. |
