U get dolphins as pet? Abi why u dey use 300ltr everyday

You're a very funny fellow. 300 is below the National average.
Do you know how many liters go each time you flush the Toilets? About 5 liters each flush.
Do you know the shower runs at 12 to 15 litres per minute? If you leave on for 10 minutes, that's 150liters per person.
Do you know the washine machine uses about 50 liters each wash?

Need I go on about cooking or doing dishes? You need to use data before talking of dolphins grin

Back home in Naija, when you used a 2000 liters overhead tank, how long did it last? If 3 days, that's 700 liters daily.

I don't encourage water wastage but we gotta know the facts. Know what is fair usage for your particular circumstances.

For instance, one of my White friends was telling me how they don't flush for urine to save water, but nah, that's not for me. I have a toddler and go to the gym often so laundry has to be significantly higher cos I can only wear my gym outfits once and the toddler has to change clothes often.

Of course, there are places I cut down, like when I shower, brush or do the dishes. But Madam loves a good long hot shower during this winter and loves to wash her food items thoroughly under running water and I won't stop her just because I want to save £5.

So find out where you can save but if you have hit fair usage, just chill jare. £15 per month is sweet but impossible for me. Virus must be on a special billing

It all boils down to ...
If you enjoy the shower/bath, then enjoy the water bill 💸
If you relish in luxury of water 🌊 comfort, then comfortable pay without iota of complain or engaging complaints. QED
What's fair use is commensurate to each ones £pocket or ones comfort level or degree of comfort/luxury.
If you wanna live it, live it £ poundly comfortably. If you don't wanna, then adjust living to £level.

Be it as it may, for us that are conscious of water bill 💵, we take all the saving measures we can. Especially, for a Ìjẹ̀bú person like me.
- when using shower, don't pull the 'trigger' to full. You don't need that full force. You no be naval officer! Just the little drizzling required. As much as possible, pull down/close the tap inbtw the first water to wet body, then rinse body. Once in a while, you can do not shower 🚿 but not everyday or every order day. Ditto hot soak.
- If you can, which is difficult for many except baba Ìjẹ̀bú like me, do away with dish washer or use dish washer sparingly. Rather use one sink to wash and the other to rinse and wipe. Of course, I don't support the 'soapy' rinse thingy. You just need enough water to rinse plates/utilities/cookery. You can simulate the two sinks process even with one sink. Perhaps this is the beauty of some of us growing up with most water corporation starting to 'take' water. Well, before when it becomes non functioning water corporations!
- never do a full flush for wee-wee. Only for no 2. Even with that, there're some no 2 that don't require full Voltron flush! Well, getting/having the right/appropriate toilet cistern is key.
- learn to wash panties with good ol' hand. Dumping brief/panties in washing machine might wash away your away £💸. If you wash 'em with other clothes as part of machine load, then fine.
- lots of ways.
Critical is having a 'conscious' consciousness. Once the mindset is there, it weaves itself into the fabric of everyone in the house whether spouse or children or any other dependents including alejò (guest). Any dissenters should go the way ... enjoy use, enjoy pay

Told madam this but she still insists on a 30min shower. Says she enjoys the water.

In that case see it as a happy moment for her and accept it as part of what keeps the family happy/healthy.

I spend time in shower too (not 30mins o), but maybe 10-15mins (mostly evenings). Shower calms me and it’s a place I come up with solutions for some of my situations. It’s also my thinking spot. I let my son have that happy time too (most times).

We are lucky we don’t have a separate bill for water as it’s included in the council tax. Don’t know if anything would have changed if we got a separate bill as I have accepted that there are some things we need to have fun with even if it’s considered a financial sin in the UK. I no wan too tight myself for this UK, since we all don accept say the economy is not necessarily to have everyone rich, but rather have everyone comfortable, then make we first de comfortable, make e con be say na the riches we de find.

With this few points of mine, I hope I’ve been able to convince you, but not confuse you that madam needs the long bath to come up with solutions on how to keep the family running. 😃 😀

Life of an immigrant in the UK.
Please how do you guys get accommodation?
I came in as a dependent on student visa. We are in Bristol and have lived in hotels and air bnb which has drained our finance. Been difficult getting accommodation for 4 (2 children)
It's either they are asking for me to already have a job, or rejecting families, children etc, moreso, the demand for house here is high. So they quickly get or choose other tenants.
I have called, met and seen several agents. Also, several rent sites.
Please can anyone help or give direction/ advice.

This has been an issue for some time now. What I did in this situation was to talk to the Airbnb owner to convert us to tenant for a 6 months period. This was a lot easier then and my then landlord accepted immediately cos it was that hot covid time. He had I believe 3 flats that were not making him a dime.

Maybe try to chat with the property owner to see if he/she can accept that offer. Mind you, this won’t be same price as what the apartment will go for rent, but it will be better than the Airbnb price. Then you try to intensify your house hunt and maybe consider other locations (like small villages close to the city).

Note: most Airbnb owners wont accept this kind of offer now as it’s not of benefit to them, But there are some with human compassion that will consider your family for this. Especially, owners that do travel abroad themself and know how life can be challenging for a family in a new city.

Roll the dice. Good luck

After reading all these water issues, all I can say is Thank you, Scotland! Because the way we use water in my house, you would think we have a dolphin as a pet and a personal borehole at our backyard grin

Went to check my CT bill and saw it's about £150/year for Water which is totally fair to be honest.

Widen your search to Newport, Swindon and even Bath. Bristol is one of the most difficult to get accommodation for a new immigrant family.

I had similar experience too, switched in between Airbnb and Hotel. My last Airbnb owner was kind enough to keep canceling booking appointments to extend our stay while we go house hunting. The guy nah real gem.

My thoughts exactly!! I can't not use water jawe. We pay a flat figure of £39 as we don't have a water meter installed and we use as much water as we want. I can even leave my cold water running all day and still pay the same amount. I like it that way!!

Hehehe!!! All these measures to save money that the children will use to eat dominos chicken once. I cannot kill myself o.

It's funny that you do half flush for wee while I always go back to flush when my toddler flushes cos I can't stand seeing semi-white water in the toilet.

Now that I know what it means to be using water meter, not sure I will ever buy a house that had water meter. I will rather pay the flat fee and use as much water as I like

Is there someone in Leicester that can accompany me in my car as I have a provisional driving licence.

I take driving lessons with an instructor but I'd like private practice as well to quicken the process. My instructor also suggested this because I know how to drive, just to master the roads.
