Soulvein: in your 40s, if you unconsciously Assess yourself financially or by Assets or level of income and you find out you are below par, This crises could set in.... for example, at 45 yrs, 1. if you don't have any income generating Asset like a Business or Rental Apartments 2. if you are still renting apartment with No Land / personal Home building project at 90% completion 3. if you have very low income like 100k/month and have 4 kids that are still young and you are straggling to pay the bills. 4. if you don't have a personal car while all your juniors seem to have gotten more than one 5 or you have a Nagging wife that sees nothing good in you or doesn't appreciate all your Sacrifices.... the list long.... they contribute to a lot of loss in faith, massive Anxiety and fear of being seen as a FALURE in Life or being poor and miserable at Old age. YOUR Focus: 1. is to Keep reminding your self that: Your job is to Survive no matter the person in power 2. if the person you want as president wins, you still need to work hard to Achieve your own personal GOAL if not Na still Hunger 3. You have to identify the problem and solve it if you can 4. Keep the Faith as you Work your Action Plan to achievement 5. Cut the Drinks 3 Likes |

By the time you feel the need to take alcohol even a few sips EVERYDAY, you are already addicted bro. Don't wait till you are stumbling and falling drunk in the streets. I remember growing up and my Dad used to take snuff like every Friday when he returns from work... He said he started taking it as treatment for a stuffy nose and it just stuck... One day, it dawned on him that he was literally now looking forward to Fridays so he could take his snuff... He never used snuff again after that day. What I am saying is, you have identified the problem... You have done well. Now do sth about it. 2 Likes |

gard9ner: Bro, just stop. I felt it was cool too. I drank like an idiot. The consolation lie was that: I don’t get drunk. I just drink to sharpen my mental alertness. Before I knew it, I was always having alcohol with me. At home, in the office, in Ny car, even in my backpack so that any time I’m away from the car, I can have a fix. But I don’t get drunk, it’s just normal, but it’s an issue every day thing. Then came the pain on the right side of my stomach. I went to complain in the hospital and I learnt I have an enlarged liver a.k.a Alcoholic Liver a.k.a. Liver Steatosis a.k.a Liver Cirrhosis younger brother. Nobody tell me to stop. Now I drink water when sitting out with friends. I don’t waste my money on drinks and I’m looking fresher and more like the gentleman that I am. No more hangover, headache, tiredness when I wake up, etc. and I just stopped drinking 4 weeks ago. May your case never be like that. But be forewarned, alcohol is a slowly addictive substance. You won’t know how deep you are until it’s late sometimes. 2 Likes |

Well, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. Since last year, I have been cutting down on alcohol. My wife is even shocked. I have had over a carton of can beers in my house since the beginning of this year but I have only drank two. Years back, there would be days I would return from work with a burning taste for a can of beer. I drink responsibly every week and enjoy buying for others. But nowadays, I'm becoming more pure. I hardly hang out with friends or visit the bars and lounge near my hood. People are beginning to think that I'm a pastor. Op one word- quit! It will end in tears 1 Like |

Hello sir, there are rules to life and our actions all you do is replace this addiction for another less harmful one, then set out to tackle it.. alcohol addiction isn't something I'd wish on my enemy. I've seen first hand how destructive it is. 1 Like |

Well, I believe everything in life should be done moderately. I was a chain smoker and an alcoholic before, but a few months back, I started noticing a change in my sexual life. I had to quit almost 6 weeks ago. The gains here are too numerous to mention. I sleep just like my normal self now. I wake once in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I get my normal erection every morning. I now have a loose change in my wallet. They are just too many just to mention a few. 2 Likes |

The last person I met who got into his drinking midlife crisis phase is buried. Old age isn't the time to pick up habits your body can't withstand. Drinking comes with the risk of dementia. |

I hate people for being to judgmental. Mid life crisis is real. your vision in life and clarity of purpose keep you stronger. Brother i understand your feeling, Its a perspective thing, When we look at our achievements vis a vis our current state. an overview of where we think we should be, you will get some feeling of panic asking yourself what have i been doing with my life. You just have to embrace the positive side and be grateful for what you have, be hopeful and grow your faith. Some alcoholics are frustrated with life, they use that to console themselves. TBH alcohol sometimes is good, but we should not depend on it. It calm your nerve, also when you get a good music and a jolly good fellow, It make people speak out their mind. you need self-awareness at this point to regulate and control it, But! never drink more than your limit. |

Boss man I understand where the alcohol habit came from, it's because Obi lost. When BAT won, I was sad too. I stay at Mende, Maryland. Do you believe that day I smoked MJ from 9am till 6pm before I got to eat something? Something I never done before. I had to do lots of stress meditation before I could get my sanity back. I'm on one smoke joint today and that's it for today. I now smoke just one time a day. Just try to meditate, free your mind and before you know you will start to reduce the alcohol intake or it will even die naturally. 1 Like |

The thing about alcohol, smoking and drugs is that it becomes addictive as you continue to indulge in it. In the beginning, it seems as if you're in control whereas, it is controlling you! It's a crazy phenomenon. If there are little or no side effects to the taking of alcohol, then I'll have no issues with it. But Omo, alcohol can cause any medical disease or condition you can think of! As a doctor, there's a part of our history taking we ask about alcohol consumption, smoking and use of drugs! Of course, there are a lot of doctors addicted to alcohol, smoking and drugs despite knowing the negative effects of such substances, that shows you how addictive these things can be! You can still save yourself before it's too late. Don't let anyone decieve you with moderation, we all have different tolerance levels and what may be moderate to one may not apply to you. Recent studies have shown that consumption of alcohol in whatever quantity or quality has no health benefits whatsoever unlike previous studies that showed that the intake of alcohol in little quantity was cardio protective. Unfortunately, many are addicted and wasted by alcohol. Of course, everyone has his or her own life to live and his or her choices to make. I hope you make the right choice! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Everyone who drinks to stupor today, even the man you knew from childhood, started this way and even promised themselves they can control things, just like you're doing right now. If you think you're having midlife crises you should talk with your wife, that's one of the reasons she's your partner. Open up completely and don't hold back how you feel. You just need some sought of emotional support. It would also help if you talked with a psychologist. But most especially, get serious (or more serious) with God. If you're not born again it's time to. Turning to alcohol has never helped anyone and you won't be the first. |

Try to wean yourself off the alcohol by smoking some “herbs” especially at night or early in the morning. Alcohol isn’t bad. Just that you could mistakenly get drunk one day & make a grave mistake. And it may be too late. But with thc, you remain mentally alert & feel alright afterwards. And it also help you enjoy your meals. Sorry about whatever is making you feel down. |

[quote author=gard9ner post=121413347]I never realised that alcohol can be this enjoyable, all my life I’ve always detested ppl that drink, whenever the topic comes up I always remember a certain wealthy man when I was younger, even with all his wealth he would drink himself to stupor every night and vomit, his driver would have to carry him, it was a very bad experience as neighbours to witness those nights especially as a young boy. So I concluded that drinking is unacceptable and I grew up with that ideology, not until recently I’ve started having a rethink. For sometime now, especially couple of weeks ago leading to last Saturday’s election, I’ve been having a difficult time, I feel like I’m drowning sometimes, maybe it’s midlife’s crisis I don’t know, I don’t know how that feels but what I know is that I was gifted a bottle of expensive vodka last week and I accepted knowing fully well what I was getting into, I knew I was going to step into another phase in my life, I could have sold the drink but no, I kept it. Like I said already, it’s been rough with me lately, the current cash crunch in the country isn’t helping, the last strew came when last Saturday’s election was announced by 4am, I was awake watching, it struck me like a bolt of lighting, I felt speechless physically but this deep hurt like my soul was groaning. Fast forward to date, I’ve consumed a couple of bottles like bloody mary, VSOP and other spirits which I mix in chilled soft drinks. I so much enjoy this new habit, I can never drink to stupor, I just lock up myself in my lounge, play some music and sip away or lock myself in my car at night and sip with music, I stop when I start feeling a bit sleepy, I just sleep quietly and peacefully. My wife just smells the stuff on me but hasn’t said anything, as I still talk reasonably and even engage her with more humor in those hours, I’ve also noticed that the house is stress-free, no arguments or hard conversations when I consume too. Here’s my problem guys, deep inside me I know I’m doing something wrong, which is why I’m posting this anyway, even though I feel peaceful when I consume. I wasn’t raised this way, my father was never an alcohol person. I feel something is wrong and somehow I feel like I’m drowning and need help (laughs). I don’t know if this will get worse overtime or if I might be tempted to do more than this in future. I know I can never do drugs, smoke etc but this highness things is eating me, I just finished the last bottle of Strumbras spirit now which I shared with a visitor, I now think it’s even more pleasurable sharing a drink with someone. I’ve ran out of bottles now and I’m considering restocking but I’m led by the spirit to post this, I don’t want preaching, I just want to read other ppl’s comment and experience and how they navigated this phase of life (midlife crisis), preferably elders in the house if any, if you’re 40 and below and have no useful contribution pls don’t comment. I need this to get to FP. Thanks.[/quote ) sign of depression seek the service of a therapist as soon as possible. |
