Seun:
Dear Igbo People,

I sincerely apologize for allowing a toxic political banner advert which said, "Lagos can never be run from Anambra; go and vote" to run on Nairaland for several hours on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The mischievously worded banner advert appears to have been part of an ethnically divisive political campaign aimed at securing Lagos State for the ruling party by instilling fear in Yoruba people, making them believe that Igbo people intended to "take over" Lagos State.

Such ethnically divisive political campaigns have no place in a forward-thinking democracy, and for this reason, the ad should have been taken down instantly. No harm was intended, but my lack of forethought about the ethics of that type of advert led to a disappointing outcome.

We should have had a clear policy against accepting negative and ethnically divisive ads on Nairaland, we should have communicated it to all advertisers, and we should have taken down any advert that violated that policy instantly. This will all be in place before the next election.

We made almost N16,000 from the ad. We will double it and donate it to victims of political violence in Lagos.

Please, do NOT give up on Nigeria. The times are challenging, but TOGETHER, we will overcome.

Sincerely,
Seun Osewa.

You're scared of them? In case all you do is coding and doesnt have time for reading. Go and read the history of the Igbos. How they orchestrate trouble and later come back to play the victim card. It's your platform but AM NOT A COWARD who will run away when a people refuse to think of the consequences before they start trouble. Remember, they started the FIRST MILITARY COUP but when there was a reprisal, they started shouting hate and Ojukwu decided to start the Biafra war, HE ENDED UP GETTING SO MANY KILLED. What made Ghanaian government to close their shops, what made South Africans to start xenophobia against. They find it EASY to form a pack and go against constituted authorities. SEUN, let's be bold enough to tell them the truth to their face otherwise you'll just end up being one of the people massaging their ego to get them into further trouble. Germans will not let foreigners take over Germany, Britons will not let foreigners take over Britain, China as well. Lets not go the southeast yet,go to the markets where they sell in Lagos, they want their own heads TO BE SUPERIOR to the market heads chosen by the government WHO RENTED OUT THE SHOPS TO THEM. Let them go and do that in China and Saudi, whatever they will not allow in their region, they should not try it in ANOTHER PERSON'S REGION. When things go bad, they have their region (OR HOME) to run to, this place belongs to us, we dont have any other place to call ours. We only gave them freedom to do business and PROSPER, if what we did is bad, we will definitely correct it.

I have never heard Nnamdi Kanu apologize for all the death he has caused all over the place through twitter, facebook and youtube, even the CEOs of the various platforms he spread his hatred didnt apologise.

Man dem!, you will continue to apologize forever, until you realize that

Why are you still focusing on the hate even after the apologies, it is obvious that nothing can stop you, that is why i think Seun is not supposed to apologize at the first place.

What i hate in my life is hypocrisy, the igbos have done worst than what was advertised but you dont see the Yorubas or northerners complaining.

Thing is, we saw the edo no be Lagos slogan in Edo state. No Yoruba person cursed or descended on Edo people for their decison, they are still in Lagos doing business and also enjoying their development under Obaseki. Yorubas are accommodating and calm but TROUBLE is what you will get when you take our calmness for WEAKNESS.

Please don't feel guilty, there is truth in the advert if only you know the clanishness Of The "IBO" people. In case you don't know they usually have Ibo meeting among themselves which Yoruba's don't. In the meetings they make collective decision which is binding on all of them. That is why You See them all going in same direction when it is against outsiders (clannishness). They are not fair and their ways are not pure neither are their Collective intentions or have they ever invited you to any of their meetings?
Ordinarily, Yoruba people don't behave this way but it was they only option left to defend their heritage without resorting to war or other forceful means. Will you be happy if they scrap the Oba of Lagos and replace it with obi? Or are you pleased with their Lagos is no man's land mantra? The "let us take over Lagos" they talk about do you think it will be beneficial to your Yoruba people? Or are you a lost Yoruba son like some Yoruba's are as we speak. I wonder why you don't know much about Ibo. If you know about Ibo honestly you will not feel bad. I will advice you Mr Seun once the issue is about your people or ethnicity defend them first under all circumstances and don't feel bad about it. As a Yoruba man you should know we are nice, tolerant and accommodating. Once You See otherwise ask questions. The Ibo man or woman you are apologising to will do same under similar circumstances. I will give you another advice when it comes to issues about Ibo people just keep quite don't say "yes or no" let nobody know your stand even when asked they are more active in any endeavour so as such they are more active on social media. They are insultive as well. In case you don't know there is contempt against the Ibo in the north already the south has always been hospitable but apparently the same issues they always have with their hosts are playing out again in the southwest. We only can hope they change their ways before the inevitable happens as usual to only them and no other tribe in Nigeria.

That aspect of N16,000 is not clear, it sounds unbelievable. But if it is true, it means those who are bought to perpetrate evil in Nigeria both offline or online are ridiculously cheap. If Seun can be paid as low as #16k to spread unnecessary xenophobia and dangerous tribalism, I wonder how much ordinary street urchins are paid to kill political opponents.

You are absolutely wrong. I am Yoruba and I can categorically tell you that I don't like Yorubas more than Igbos. The Tribalism you are seeing on Nairaland is solely orchestrated and sponsored by Lagos APC. Outside Nairaland and Lagos Politics, you can never see such nonsense in Yoruba land. Xenophobia is one of the strategies devilish APC deployed to undermine and truncated democracy in Lagos State.

As far as election is concerned, I will always choose Obi over any Yoruba man because of his capacity and character. In Nigeria, after Obi is Gov. Zulum and Akinwumi Adesina.

You might ban me for life which I don't care. I said it sometimes that, Nairaland is a forum breeding ethnicity and hatred among Igbo and Yoruba but you refused to listen. You threw my concern into dustbin and your Dogs banned me.

A good government needs to take appropriate steps to ban your Nairaland and other inciting fora causing disunity in Nigeria.

The only thing you can do to redeem your image it to ban outrightly, anybody who makes tribalistic/bigoted comments, or creates any topic that can stir up ethnic division or tension in your forum. Be it Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba or any other tribe. Ban them for life because this forum is becoming too toxic.
