LoL. I saw crows2ravens post and I laugh too. Maybe he doesn't know most Nigerians here earn less than £2500. Before you pay your utilities, and housing billsw, this Money is gone. Not forgetting that you'll eat. Except the securities of life (bad things also happen here but they get solved unlike Nigerians which crime tarry for long),the quality of life I was actually living in Nigeria was far better than this UK. But I'm here already, shame no go catch us. Peace
Oga! Off your microphone.

All those quoting me saying it's a lie.
Of course, care and support is unskilled work.

I will use an example, a single guy living outside of London. Assuming you work in the same city where you work. These figures are as close to actual as possible. If you live in UK and and I'm wrong, bring us actual figures!

Let's say you earn £1,800 monthly:
Tax + NI - £400
Rent (studio flat + bills) - £600
One month bus ticket - £55
Food and groceries - £100
Car finance, e.g. Audi A1 - £227 (down payment is around £2k plus)
Total monthly expenses - £1,382
You still have £418 for other expenses and savings. But anything else you spend on will be wants not needs.

Council tax £80 if it's not included in your rent.
The UK guys don't want us to come and flood the place for them.

1. What council tax band is £80 a month?

2. Get me a quote of Audi A1 finance with £227 repayment and 2k deposit.

3 How much is road tax, car insurance and MOT on that car?

4. What is the cost of fuelling that car?

Uk is overcrowded!

Think outside the box! Don’t follow the crowd!

Don’t use you qualifications to go wipe asses!

Australia is wide opened but few looking into it!

Canada welcoming immigrants with no jobs to offer! Don’t use your degree to become a Uber driver all because you want to be in Canada. Canada is good, but competition is high.

Thank you very much! This too have proven my point that life is much better in the UK.

Can 300k salary in Nigeria give one a life as good? You have security, light n generator, fuel, police harassment problems, unreliable internet, etc, and your 2010 model car "check engine light" is probably on forever!
It's all relative isn't it?

There are people living good lives in Nigeria although a wide gap exists between the haves and the have not with majority falling in the latter category.

But the same can be said of the UK too, the main difference being access to amenities and government safety nets when you are of a lower income.

Each place has its pros and cons.

Got your answer below?

shaybebaby:

You forgot to add:
1) Car insurance: let's say about £50p/m
2) Road tax: £15
3) Broadband: £30
4) Petrol/ diesel : assuming you don't drive the car often: £100pm
5) Mobile Phone: £30

So that's £418-225=£193

No much left after that.

No place like Nigeria in the whole world. Just have little change. Comfortability exists more in Nigeria than anywhere in the world.
You dey shout. I recall a military outreach where some foreign armed forces came to Nigeria, these guys were so happy that most stated they would live to remain here as a civilians

The worst nightmare of any Nigerian parent
My cousin dad is regretting taking his kids to UK. He said the best is allow them school here up till secondary and allow them go do university in UK or school till University in Nigeria then masters in UK

My elder brother was among the first people to start this "buy data for xyz amount" today his staying in his own house in Lekki, recently bought another house in Lekki, has over 35 staff working for him. Here's is his daily routine
Sleep and wake up at about 9:00am
Hit the gym by 9:30am
Come back by 3:00pm Hold meeting with staff if need be
Off to hang out with the boys and returns by 11:00pm
How do I know this? I have stayed with him and the ALL the staff knows me. Don't anybody deceive you.
I asked him, why not travel out? He responded, there's no place like Nigeria, his friends that left 6-7 yrs ago, he still send money from Nigeria

Really, it's whatever works for you sir.
But people should not discourage those that want to japa. With correct information, they will do well there.
There are many good things one can achieve in this country too.
But if you're not sure, it all depends on the kind of life you want to live. Whether it's better for you to stay or japa.

Road tax??

Car insurance?

And council tax is £80, only in your village right?

And don't be deceived, there's no way you're going to save a Penny out of a salary of £1800. But , you win. I agree 👍

How much do you earn monthly

Now, I earn £2,100 with intense side hustle. Utility, taxes, foods, rent, insurance, car bill, fuel etc take about £1875, at least last month. And una go still settle them for Naija (but this one no dey important). Just like Many people were told or made to believe, I thought it'll be easy to save lot of money so I can retire to Naija as soon as possible. But from the look of things, I saved more in Naija than I do here, because I don't spend that much for Naija. However, I enjoy 24hrs power supply here and good roads.

Of course these can't be 100% accurate. Remember I've stated PAYE tax and NI deductions too, council tax depends on the size of your apartment and location, I'm assuming band A here.
All I just say it if my figures are wrong or inadequate, people should please provide the right figures, so those that are trying to get the information will be well informed.

Life doesn't go in a straight line. Even in naija, with 700k salary, you will think you're a big man until you're buying a loaf of bread for 1k, and gas for 12k. Then you want to buy 2015 Camry instead of 2008 Accord. You want to live in an estate in Anthony/Gbagada instead of Egbeda. You decide to run your gen overnight instead of usual 4 hours in the evening.
Even if you earn monthly £4,000 in UK, you can still be having troubles saving any money.
It's all about perspective.

When I first came, I can easily save £300. But now inflation is crazy. Salary earners suffer.

It's easy if I can just post a screenshot of my utility, rent, bills For the month. But rent, utilities, my car mortgage, car insurance are the biggest thing that take money away
