I totally agree with the "Learn Tech" part. I'm currently in my 4th year in Uni and will be done next year. I'm glad I picked up UI/UX Design as a skill during the strike and now working with it. Best thing to have ever happened to me fr.

Good luck with that

Who and who are poor in Nigeria? Wealth is different from income. So you're very mistaken, the average Nigerian at home is wealthier than the vast majority of Nigerians abroad. At home a Nigerians has dignity, freedom and equality. Nigerians abroad immediately lose their dignity.

Nigeria is good, everybody is enjoying. The only people suffering are those who don't know the way, those who choose to sleep in the midst of vast opportunity. Look how Lebanese, Indians, Americans are trooping into Nigeria every week and investing and making money. Go to Idumota, Computer Village and see trailer loads of DOLLARS moving through there every day. Is it not in Nigeria that Linda Ikeji and others are making millions every week?

Nigeria is the place to be, jakpa is for losers!!!

It is an objective fact that more than 50% of Nigerians live in poverty, it's not matter of opinion. Your anecdotal evidence is living in denial. Look around wherever you live, do you think it is normal for underage kids to be hawking goods in traffic?
If you keep this mindset, you will remain poor

As a tired Nigerian youth, the issue of unemployment in Nigeria is not just a topic, but a harsh reality that affects my daily life.

Despite having a good education and skills, I struggle to find a job that matches my qualifications.

The high level of unemployment has left me and many other young Nigerians feeling hopeless and frustrated.

It seems like no matter how hard we try, the system is rigged against us, and opportunities are scarce.

The government's efforts to address the issue have been lacklustre at best, with policies and programs that have not produced tangible results.

It's time for the government to take real action and prioritise creating job opportunities for the youth.

Schools should change their academic curriculum to include more subjects in entrepreneurship so that in the event of not getting a job after spending years in school, one can still survive and make a living.

Until then, we will continue to be a generation stuck in a cycle of unemployment and poverty.
. The truth is that, most Nigerian graduates are unemployable simple, if you are an employer of labour, you will understand what I am saying.

True... Once every state sorts out its power supply crisis, industrialization will take off fast from there.

There should be massive involvement and encouragement of youths to go into IT, agriculture, and other key crafts... There should sponsored training and better accessibility to micro loans.

Lack of electricity is NOT the major problem of the Nigerian economy. Whenever I read this from anyone, I know that person doesn't understand how markets and economics work in nations.

Sir , I'm interested in knowing how your own markets and economics works. You don't have to always type anything cos you feel cool about winning an argument. Which economics lecturer taught you that increase in cost of production (no electricity) will not have a direct impact in price , hence inflation . There's no need to be abusive. That Nigerians often resort to abuse when they're CORRECTED is an interesting trait. And the richer they are, the more offended they get. Anyway.

My point is very easy to prove. Let's see, there's official reports from the stock exchange on the profitability of companies that trade there. Take GTB and many banks, how come they've remained generally profitable and employ so many Nigerians?

What about the Dangote and the cement sector? Ever heard of a company like Indorama, the petrochemical manufacturing company in Eleme? It's very profitable. Also NLNG is the most profitable company in Nigeria, paying BILLIONS OF DOLLARS as dividends and taxes in Nigeria and employing so many.

All these companies are doing RELATIVELY well despite a lack of stable electricity supply. That's my proof. Now I'm not telling you that electricity isn't a problem, yes it is. So PLEASE don't come back at me claiming I said it's a non-existent problem. What I am saying is that it's NOT the most important problem of the Nigerian economy.

The most important problem in the Nigerian economy is *price controls* by government and unions. That's it. Once you remove this obstacle, the economy will thrive even if public mains electricity supply remains exactly at the level it is today. And this your sentence here is very germane to the issue -

Which economics lecturer taught you that increase in cost of production (no electricity) will not have a direct impact in price , hence inflation

Increased costs become a problem where government and unions prevent producers from raising prices to compensate. Or we can put it this way, price flexibility is more important than electricity supply.

So how come poor electricity supply hasn't stopped Channels TV and other broadcasters, MTN and other telecoms companies, from being profitable and employing thousands of Nigerians?

Again if you're still inclined to disagree, go check why Exxon Mobil and Shoprite exited the Nigerian market. It's NOT because of electricity supply.

I write based on evidence. It takes a bit of insight to see it though.

Have a good evening.

Before we blame government, I think we need to blame our parents first.
They thought they could still do things the way their forefathers did it and succeed.
Our population is too muchhhhhh.
The average family shouldn't have more than a kid yet poor people popping out kids like mushrooms and expecting government to get them jobs.
If you are matured enough to impregnate your woman, then you are matured enough to get that baby coming out from the intercourse a job and not government.
How did we even get here sef? Because in the olden days system of Obas, igwes, emirs it is not the job of these monarchs to get the villagers jobs. How did we get here?
Our forefathers and many of our parents have been irresponsible.
They thought we are still in the era of birth many kids and when they can't take care of them, take them to meet one Oga for apprenticeship to learn trade who will be feeding, clothing and housing them while they the irresponsible non-planning parents fold their arms and waiting for the dividends while popping more kids.
They take them to go learn mechanic jobs, vulcanizer, tailoring etc but this era has changed.
If you don't have plans for your kids, you will hate yourself as a father and regret it.
Your son will look you in the face and call you a Useless man.

. People trying have a debate or argument with you are wasting their time . You obviously don't know what you are talking about, but you have a strong urge to feel cool about winning an argument. We are talking about how unfavorable Nigeria economy is to the unemployed youth to get a job or start a business. So you really think the best example you can give is that dangote, shop right and banks are making profit ?? When anyone that has a deep know about economics these are the big players making the situation worse . Is the rate of inflation in the country the same with the increase in income of the most households . How does dangote making profit have positive effect on youth, a know monopoly beneficiary because the government allowed it where competition should have been thrown open. I know you you are not that sound when I read your post saying no electricity is not bad for the economy. Pls have your peace , I hope to have a discussion with someone that have know about what he claims to know, not just someone at the end of a keyboard typing anything that comes to mind even though it does not make sense just because you want to sound intelligent which you are not

In this present age, African government needs to open up their economies.
The African economy is too traditional, predictable, one way directional.

Not everyone will go to school or get employed or work for a company or do business.
They need to open up the economy so that people get engaged in sports and other things.
You don't need to work in oil and gas or be an importer or wholesaler in market to live a good life.
A good football league will park a lot of youths off the street. 1st division, 2nd and 3rd will pack alot of thugs off street. Boxing, swimming, bike race, formula one just name it. Name it
This is the main reason I want to relocate my family because I want my kids to have the options of fitting into any sector of their strength and not looking for yeye jobs up and down or do business as they call it.
I want to sign a young boxer into my company and manage him. He is very very good and has won national boxing belt before but his only crime is being black and born in Africa. That is his only crime.
He is wasting away now but God will help us

Electricity is not the main problem of the Nigerian economy.

The main problem of the Nigerian economy is price controls and the related issue of government ownership.

For example, government dictates the price of petrol, Electricity and university fees. And the major overhang that really has has put the economy in permanent depression for decades is the regulated price of the naira against forex.

The sad thing is that more of the same seems to be in the offing. Nigeria will continue to be the best place to live in the world. We love ❤️ Nigeria.

Anyway, Good Luck!

Sports is an industry owned and regulated by government in Nigeria. If you notice, ALL sports stadia are owned by government. You might think you're the first to have this idea, but others have tried and failed.

Nigeria has a Ministry of Sports. That's all you need to know.

Guy you make sense though but discouraging people travelling abroad is wrong. Many families in Nigeria are surviving today because they had siblings and friends in the diaspora. I don't know about you though but in my area most big houses are built by people in the diaspora. The same diaspora people remitted billions of dollars to Nigeria annually

Will you advice a poor struggling Nigeria who managed to get a full funding scholarship for master degree or PhD in these country not to go because Nigerians has more opportunities? You need to know that £1 is about #910. Please reduce your views about Nigerians living in the diaspora. You're absolutely wrong about it.

I personally know a family surviving because they had 2 siblings in US and Canada. Imagine these siblings of theirs remain in Nigeria wasting away like their other siblings? Rest abeg

We have jobs in Nigeria but its very limited... which means you have to know person that know somebody...

I remember I applied to almost all federal jobs in Nigeria and nothing came up...

I was so frustrated because I wanted to serve, fight for my country in the military or paramilitary level..

I search for jobs in my field but they would rather waste ur time and just make you feel something is wrong with you...
