A simple and interesting thread, but brownjay and the other guy turned it into rubbish talks about women..

Must everything be about women !?

Y'all be having unnecessary headaches over women (our forefathers rather spent their time, energy and resources on battle, kingdoms, inventories, etc. Women were least of their problems), deviating from the main subject matter. Y'all should desist from this nonsense please!!!

Delusory tendencies I see in display a lot here.

Japa is a mindset justified by harsh conditions here but the pasture isn't always greener on the on the other side.

I think the most important thing people don't take into consideration is what next when you get there, They think once you get there with no money and illegally, that manner will fall from heaven and you will earn millions out of thin air. I always advise anyone thinking of traveling to get a business here that can sustain itself then japa, because when you get there, you must pay in their currency and trust me if you have nothing doing, life is going to be difficult.

Literally everyone you see shouting abroad is not what you think are those that go there and expect to find trees with millions growing on them. I have never been to the US, but Europe a couple of times and my experience has been 10/10.

My Experience.
Avoid Campobasso in Italy grin grin

Don't be surprised by the weird smell when you get to paris, takes a while to get used to it. Not really a smell, just don't know how to describe it.

The mentality of coming to carry a woman from Nigeria to marry, PLEASE DON'T TRY IT. they're worst than the so called western women when they get there, I would recommend getting a wife from the Philippines.

The food in Germany is very bland, alot revolves around bread, the types of bread they have is more than the alphabets.

And last but most importantly, Always compose yourself and act upclass even if you aren't, if you get stop by the cops and asked for documents, kindly give it to them and ask them how their day is going, don't go and start shouting and screaming for junction because they asked for documents.

And if you're lazy kindly stay in Nigeria because you won't make it there.

And for the ladies, the easiest way is to go through a nursing program, You get paid and a guaranteed job when you graduate and just a 2yrs program, no go stand for De Wallen for night dey find client because them go burst you las las grin

Abeg link me up.

That's it. A change in location should accompany a change in behavior. I know a number of women who desire to get married but their issue is the man will change once he comes here. My next question is what are your options?

consider this.

When foreigners get married to Nigerians, the marriage tends to lasts longer compared to Nigerian couples. Eg In 2014, I linked up 8 USC with Nigerians that ended in marriage, all are still married. That same year I know 5 Nigerian marriages that only 2 are still couples today. While that is a personal observation, you will agree that we tend to have a higher tolerance towards our foreigners spouses which we don't exhibit toward our Nationals.

We create different expectations. We shy away from having meaningful and sometimes difficult discussions during courtship.

Honestly I would expect my spouse to change if I brought her from Nigeria but the real issues are the men need to change their "orientation" and the women need to "understand" their men.

Your last statement is you rather being sanctimonious.

The same way you said it is the same way some cultures think why on earth shouldn't a man beat a woman.

I am not supporting Men beating Women, but rather saying it's based on people's values and upbringing the way a Man would perceive laying hands on a Woman.

It's a useless value and upbringing. Nothing justifies beating up another grown-up human because you're married to them.

- Nigerians are some of the smartest and equally most evil person you could meet around the world...one minute you can meet someone who has built great businesses abroad (from scratch) and the next minute meet someone who will willingly defraud someone out of their life saving (to the point that they will commit suicide) in a heartbeat!
- Nigerians can LITERALLY be found in every country of the globe.
- many inexperienced people really do believe that the minute you go abroad, you will start making millions miraculously.
- so many people do believe there are more life/work opportunities in the US/UK/Canada for Nigerians, but i beg to differ....
- although some are ready to kill to leave Nigeria, some are equally ready to kill to go back to Nigeria on holiday pretending they have made it in the west
- people today still go back to the village in Nigeria to find a wife to bring to the west, thinking that this woman ISNT GONNA CHANGE INTO A WESTERN WOMAN (the minute she reaches the west), lol! if you want a village woman, then keep that woman in the village o.
- some people have bought houses etc in the west by cleaning dishes and toilets. not all these menial jobs are as bad as people thing...
Quite a write up..and all true except for where you wrote that disagree about more life/work opportunities in the US/UK/Canada for Nigerians.
There are actually better opportunities in those places. Trust me. If you need to start a business and you know what you are doing. It's would be very easy because there won't be the usual bureaucracies, bottle necks and obstacles we are all too used to in Nigeria. Also if you are the not so ambitious type, there are many unskilled hussles you can do that would earn you as much as your skilled counterpart earn. I know people who go about picking empty aluminum can and water bottles in trash and selling it for 50 to 100 dollars per day. I also know know people that do shopping and delivery on instacart and earn over 4k usd per month.

It's a wonderful experience, but I believe that it's all about grace. Some will find it easy, others will struggle abit.

The only shock I had is that I did not see and Still have not seen any top loader washing machines. cheesy cheesy cheesy. I think it's because there is always power.

Miami university gave me admission just after reading my letter. Nice place. I don't know of now though. That was back in 2005.
