Why wait for pregnancy before you test the foetus? The whole stress of dnc if the foetus is AS? Why not go for artificial insemination at once whenever you are ready to have a child?

As long as there is a plan for CVS for every pregnancy I’ll say you can go ahead, you both can’t be unfortunate to keep getting SS children in each of your pregnancy because the probability is 25%.

I and hubby also did the same thing, our families are aware and supported, spent about 500k on the procedure and we have our AS baby boy now, we are going to try for another baby soon and we’re hoping our 75% is in our favor.

It is difficult meeting someone you can easily relate with for marriage o. But please MAKE SURE there is a planned money on ground for the procedure, don’t ever take that risk based on faith alone.

Guy, don't stress yourself. If you can foot the bill, whenever your woman and you are ready, be smart about it. Go for artificial insemination. Let them chose the best sperm and the best egg, insert in her and she carries it to term. It's going to a be a lot easier than the option they gave you, cheaper with less trauma.

If u target 3 to 4 kids when ever she's pregnant u go for it , I feel I can do it, my woman has brought peace of mind to me ever I met her after terrible 7yrs in my previous toxic relationship, I see my new gal as a God sent exactly what any man could look for in a woman. Though the money is not yet there , I'm in early stage of my career no money yet, but I know it will come. Artificial insemination and genotype selection prior to pregnancy is very very expensive, I think testing after pregnancy is more affordable knowing that there’s 75% chance of it being in your Favour.

Fool! Broken relationship is way better than a problematic Marriage. Think of the pain the child will go through as a SS person once you permit selfishness and stupidity to have it's way .

Please! Please!! Please!! If your genotype does not match, don't marry. Forget: we love each other. Don't suffer your unborn children. My brother you cannot manage it. A friend lost a child yesterday, that was a carrier. It's never easy.

I have been married for Ten years now and I think I can advise u on this genotype issue. I have seen many thread on issue of genotype in which people are giving out advice here. I just looked on cos I have nothing to contribute.
My wife and I are AS. Though we did not lie about it to our families but the resistance was too much from her own family. We weigh a lot of issues that are bigger than genotype, like what of if I marry another person and she couldn't conceive and many others like that. But what really helped us is that we had great convictions in the relationship and I have peace being around her.
We have two kids so far and they are both AA, Female and male. If u love the woman very well and u are ok with her character, I beg u go ahead. Don't try to please anyone. If u have the money to do pre-testing and Ur wife is in agreement kindly go ahead. Few good women are outside there and the rate of divorce is alarming. May God almighty guide Ur step.

thanks dear for your encouragement, I'm currently chasing my license hoping to get it before the year runs out, as soon as I do that there will be inflow of cash.

She at the other end is a 18yrs gal, but thinks and behave like a 30yrs old woman very mature , humble and homy knowing what to do at all time, u might even doubt her age because of her maturity. she has really been a piece of mind to me, I really suffer in my previous relationship.

Also for career , she has been learning chemist before she had misunderstanding with the woman she was staying with so had to relocate to my area where I met her at the market, so I have made an arrangements with a family friend so she could go over there and continue building herself in chemist , as soon as I'm balanced I intend setting up somewhere for her (chemist), that will be after our marriage.

Your case:planning and hoping much money will be coming in the future is the weakness of man, getting your licence and boom huge money will start flowing in is not as easy as you're thinking.Every plan should be based on your current income while working hard for increase.

I don't want it to be a case when your dearest woman gets pregnant and the money to carry out the procedure is not there then you'll leave the case for fasting and prayer or be looking for miracle from these pastors.

Falling in love comes with so many disadvantages that's why I don't fall in love:

It can lead one to damnation, bankruptcy,
You'll be thinking in opposite direction and still be claiming you're doing the best thing, it makes senseless thing look sensible, it covers one's face as if you can never get a better partner , etc.

Sickle cell as ruined many homes and lives, has turned rich to poor. The pain the child passes through is indescribable.

There should even be a law to punish parents that bring an SS child to life to come and suffer. Ignorance is not a defence.

I love the fact that you made your intentions known.

Meanwhile, if a doctor has told you that your wife foetus testing will be the solution, did you ask the doctor the likely cost of this test? Can you afford it? How long can you continue in this manner? Not that after 2 testing you will come back to say you are running bankrupt.

You and I know that it is not advisable that AS AND AS should settle for one another.

Do not go on with the marriage please. Sickle cell is real as my Aunty has buried 2 of her children as a result of the silly mistake they made even after knowing their genotype. That is the height of it all to bury your own children that will have bury you in your old age.

OP if you and your girl agree then go ahead with foetus testing for every pregnancy. I know a lot of AS couples who have walked down this path, are happy and have healthy kids to testify.
