KD is no longer a top 3 player, and if what I am seeing this playoffs continues next season, he might no longer be the best player on his own team

They have the best starting 5 in the league

Denver is an example of what happens when competent people are in charge, they were patient and gradually built a core that fit their best player to a tee.

And they've stayed healthy. No setbacks from their two long term layoffs. That has helped them to gel over the course of 82 games in the regular season.

I think its worse than that. Dude is lazy. AD is unfocused, has some personality issues, and gets lost in games. Ayton has figured out a way to look like he is playing hard while mailing it in. Like KAT
KAT too na another point of reference. Two #1 picks that have been handed keys to the kingdom and thus no real urge to prove anything. This is why scouts gotta also look at the intangibles

As much as I am a KD Critic especially for his dumb decision to leave the dubs to join Kyrie on a wild goose chase.
I will cut him some slack, this man just came back from a career threatening Achilles injury in his 30s and he's playing at near MVP levels.
He will never be LeBron, he will never get the love and respect of Steph but he's no slouch and he's a winner.
In my opinion, He's the 3rd best player of this era and that's not a bad achievement.

I won't be shocked if the Suns fire M. Williams. The team looked poor and unprepared in an elimination game at home. They were down 30 by half time, the same deficit they suffered last year against the Mavs at the same stage. The Suns have to explore trade options for D. Ayton for 2 reasons. One, it is the only way they can improve their roster, I don't see them moving Durant or CP3 (nobody is touching that contract) secondly, Ayton just doesn't fit inside that locker room.

It does not matter who refs as long as they ref fairly. If you are adjudicating a playoff game, you cannot be heavily biased where 1 team has 20+more FTs than the other. That is statistically unlikely especially when the other team is not even reputed for being rough or hyperaggressive.

Anyone with a history of watching the NBA (Including the Netflix specials that Bron Bron had to 'stop' himself from watching) will know that the classic way to rig a game is to give one team significantly more fouls than the other.

It does 2 things: it ensures one team goes to the line to shoot FTs as well as helping them get into a bonus quickly so that any other ticky tacky fouls or legitimate fouls will lead to more FTs. Further, it ensures that the better players on the opposing team will have to go to the bench more often to avoid racking more fouls. This guarantees scoring runs for the team the NBA hopes to favor. We see it every season.

In the past, the excuse was always: this is the playoffs and foul calls get harder to come by but that narrative changes when the warriors are concerned. Iggy, in his book even pointed out that a player like KD who was known to get a ton of FTs saw his numbers shrink significantly when he played for the dubs. Obvious things like this that us, Warriors have had to deal with.

Just call the game fairly and let the team that wins, win. If you want to be generous with the foul calls let it go both ways otherwise, tell both teams to man up. Afterall the Lakers are bigger in size, that should favor them innit?

For those complaining about the FT disparity. The stats don't lie. Stats and eye test shows GS are notorious for committing fouls. That's what playing small does. You can't compare Draymond trying to defend AD at the rim to AD trying to defend Draymond at the rim. There's a 5 inch difference between the two of them and an even greater wing span difference. And one is an elite rim protector. Now add LeBron to the equation. LeBron himself is bigger and stronger than every single player on the GS roster. And you'd have to foul him most times to stop him.

Stats say that during the regular season, the Lakers were the team that committed the least fouls while GS ranked 28. Stats also say that GS shot the fewest amount of FT per game while lakers shot the most. Combine those two things together and the fact that GS is a 3pt shooting team, what you should have is a massive FT disparity between the two teams. It should be a shock for both teams to shoot 15 FTs like they did in game 5.

You can't be taking away my strength (which is scoring in the paint) and expect me to win. When you illegally stop me from scoring in the paint, I expect the refs to blow. I don't care if I go to the line 40 times. We go to the FT line a lot because no one can stop us in the paint.

On this free throw issue. I have a simple take:

Its the playoffs, let' the players man up.

We are here to watch hardcore physical defence and sublime skill based offense in the playoffs.

Off course I don't support borderline murdering or injuring your opponent but we are not here to watch freethrow fest either. The refs should swallow the whistle and let these men play.

Something is either a foul or not, there is no manning up. You can play physical defense without fouling, the idea that ignoring clear fouls make a great game is seriously bad because that leaves a game open to manipulation. We all can remember Lakers vs Kings how the Refs handed the series to Shaq and Kobe, because they were selectively choosing when not to call a foul a foul.

Bros, on this thread in particular, your reputation precedes you. You are not exactly the most insightful when it comes to data and analytics so I will toe this data path with caution because more knowledgeable people will tell you that factors come into play before a stat is counted. To ignore those other factors is to expose your gross ignorance on the subject matter.

Case in point, Steph Curry. The warriors talisman attempts more drives to the rim, has more usage, skill, class, pull, clout, gravity and star power than any other player in the Lakers not named Lebron yet Curry is attempting less free throws than Schroeder, Reaves, etc etc. How does your mumu data account for that?

In fact, Curry is generating four less free throws than Schroeder per game even though Curry drives 2 times more than him. How do you reconcile that?

Now if the best player on the warriors roster with more usage than both AD and Lebron, more drives attempted and more gravity than both players combined is generating less free throws than a role player on the Lakers. That should be clear enough to the biggest fool, that, Curry and the warriors by extension have been getting shafted by the whistle.

This should come as no surprise. Every GSW fan (not the fake trolls on NL) complained all season long about how terrible the refereeing had been. This goes back to even losing to Orlando early in the season. But like I said, your reputation precedes you. LOL

It is not even the manning up aspect. It is the selective whistling. It is how Reaves is generating more fouls than Steph Curry. Things like that. There is a reason I stopped posting on this thread. Too many slowbrained people to deal with at times. No disrespect to anyone.

I'm all for physicality, because it suits the Lakers more. That's how we love to play. But you can't say the refs should not blow if you clearly impede me. The rules are there for a reason. All those things like flopping or jumping into the defender to get a FT shouldn't be called. Look at the Lakers/Grizzlies series. Both teams shot similar amount of FTs because they play almost the same style. That was the case for Kings/Warriors. Jump shooting team with poor interior defense. Nobody complained about the FTs in those series.

No one on the GSW roster could stop Lebron
