Group Begs Sanwo-olu To Consider Igbo For Political Appointments by EcoBrick(op): 4:11pm On May 21, 2023
For inclusion in government, a social-cultural group, Igbo Speaking Community, has appealed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to consider qualified Igbo resident in the state for political appointments.

The President-General, Igbo Speaking Community, Mr. Sunday Udeh, made the appeal in Lagos against the backdrop of Sanwo-Olu’s second term when the Council of Ndi Eze Lagos State visited him.

Udeh stated that for the purposes of inclusiveness and ethnic balancing, Igbo should be given opportunity when nominating new appointees, as it would create the much-needed ethnic and political balance.

“I want to state here that before the All Progressives Congress (APC) party primaries in Lagos State, we appealed to the party to consider an Igbo man for the Lagos State House of Assembly, as we only had one man out of 40 members.”

He noted that the Igbos played a decisive role in the last gubernatorial election, where all Igbo, market women came out en-mass despite the hiccups to ensure that Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu was re-elected for a second term.

As such, appointing an Igbo man will go a long way for the party to have a smooth running in future election.

“Hence, the election is over and no single Igboman in the decision making body was elected. For this reason, we make this passionate appeal that the governor when making new appointments should give the Igbos at least three commissioner slots.

“We also appeal to the governor to plead with the party leaders to either retain Jude Idimogu or give us another lgboman that will stand as a voice because the Igbos needed someone to represent them.”

Earlier, the Chairman, Council of Ndi Eze Lagos State, Eze Chika Nwokedi said that his visit to the Office of the President General was to reassure the leadership of Igbo Speaking Community of his commitment to bring the Ndi Eze under one umbrella in the state.

They should wait for any appointments when the Okoro Gbadebo takes over in the next 1 billion years to come or better still, return to their various villages in Alaigbo for an appointment. Why should any appointment be given to strangers when the indigenous people are there? grin

Don't ya all have your home state or region to seek an appointment? Thieves. grin

If nigerians can get political appointments in europe and america, i wonder why a hausa/fulani, yoruba or igbo man cannot get political appointment in anambra, kano or lagos state. And to the igbos seeking ethnic balancing through political appointments; can you imagine the fulanis or yorubas seeking same in enugu or anambra state and expecting your governors to grant these appointments?

why are you always twisting my words?

Appointments and politics are same thing in your dictionary?

Anyway, yorubas(since its a tribal thing) also forced a druglord and a criminal down on our throats

Igbos also have every right to rally around their preferred candidates, just like every other tribes

Are Igbos the only tribe in Lagos? If I were Sanwo I would rather appoint an Hausa/Fulani man or better still our Edo cousins. Igbos in SE should first replicate what Tinubu did in Lagos by appointing a Yoruba or Hausa Fulani man as a commissioner then we'll see.

I CAN NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH AN IGBO MAN HAVING POLITICAL APPOINTMENT IN LAGOS BUT LET THAT APPOINTMENT COME AFTER A YORUBA MAN IS GIVEN A POLITICAL APPOINTMENT IN ANY STATE IN THE EAST.HARD ABI?
Re: Group Begs Sanwo-olu To Consider Igbo For Political Appointments by flokii: 6:44pm On May 21, 2023
What do they mean by ethnic balancing?.. are they crazy or something.

You came with night bus to Lagos to do petty buying and selling.. What business do you have with Yoruba politics?
How many Yorubas are in Abia, Anambra, Imo etc. House of Assembly or how many Yoruba appointees do they have in their States.. Or are there no qualified Yorubas living in those States?

Governor Sanwo Olu should ignore them.. that is how they'll be scheming up and d,own, looking for how to emerge as head over their hosts. Nonsense.

Help an Igbo man today n tomorrow he will call for your head, give an Igbo man a step n he will go 50 miles
