See idiot. You quoted Hameed Ali and Buhari as your source. And you say you defeat me with facts? How old are you really?

Nigerians didn’t ask the right questions then and we sure aren’t asking the right questions now…
Why do we have subsidy in the first place?
Because me import fuel right
So why do we import fuel?
Because our refineries aren’t working?
So why aren’t our refineries working?

If we fixed all our refineries would we still need to import fuel?

So why haven’t we channeled resources over the years to fix the refineries?

We stopped importation of rice because “we want to grow our economy and consume locally grown rice right?

So why did the price of locally grown rice shoot up?

These and many more are questions we should be asking the government. These are things we should demand answers to otherwise we’ll just keep hearing different nonsense every new day
Very good point!!!! Don't mind them, as long as we continue to import the product, subsidy will not go away.. let's us fix our refineries. How can an oil producing country will be importing fuel. This is shameful

You people think everybody on NL is gullible and mad like you. If you have the money for subsidy, go and pay it! Nobody is apologizing to Jonathan. Instead of building refineries and laying ground work for a day like this, he and his cabal were busy robbing Nigeria blind. Which is why that protest happened. Your ignorance is appalling. You think the price will remain static till now from 2012? If we’ve allowed GEJ to fully remove subsidy in 2012 and eliminate regulated prices, the price per liter would still be around N500 today so what’s your point?
Gosh! There are too many economic illiterates on this website these days.
Can you imagine that dweeb you responded to here saying that the current government should take the price of fuel back to the GEJ period.

GEJ and his team were supposed to build Greenfield refineries then but they never did after NLC and others had discussions with the government. The primary reason Occupy Nigeria took place around Nigeria then was simply because there was NO efficient refinery operations going on and GEJ wanted to remove the subsidy without visible palliatives or plan for a functional refinery.

Dangote will start production next month and that has been the saving grace otherwise a lot of Nigerians would have revolted.

Am not even APC to start with. I 100% support Peter Obi's manifesto which is to remove the subsidy on psm.

Nobody is against fuel subsidy removal except the criminal elites that benefits from it.
The problem is the execution of such.

Things needed to be rightly put in place to cushion the effects of removing fuel subsidy before going ahead to do exactly that.

Peter obi's idea on fuel subsidy removal should be the practical standard, not this stupid pronouncement Tinubu made.

Nothing less than N400 with current market conditions. However, market conditions may push the price upwards or downwards anytime. The point of removing subsidy is not to fix price but to allow market conditions dictate the price.

The part in bold is wrong. Very wrong. Government is not paying subsidy because we import petrol. Government pay subsidy because Nigerians don’t want to buy petrol at market determined price. We want to buy petrol at a price regulated below the cost of production and profit margin of petrol importers and refiners. Let’s understand this and not confuse each other, please.

The same fuel subsidy the APC and Buhari said is a scam in 2012. From 2015 to May 2023, how many beneficiaries of this subsidy payments did the Buhari government prosecute or arrest? Rather they spent over 11 trillion naira on this same subsidy payments that is a scam o and Nigerians said nothing. It is well with this country

It's projected to start production 2024 or Early 2025.

One if the reasons Nigeria won't move forward is because we have people like you who prefer your own tribe even if they are worse.

Subsidy removal is must. But it has been removed by Buhari but his men still budgeted for subsidy and diverted it. This administration wants money and is using removal of subsidy to jack up cost of goods which in turn will attract higher taxes.

Don't dismiss history. You learn from it. The certificates you gained 10 years ago, you still use them today.

During russia invasion on ukraine what did buhari do when crude oil went as high as 140 dollars per barrel? You know to trade blame but you forget that the money left in foreign reserve was almost exhausted before buhari left office while goodluck left over 40 billion dollars for the next administration.
