You mean you didn't average down when it went down to as low as N4 in 2018.

Did you also remove the dividends earned in the last 15 years from your cost.

The dividends over the years as you can see is crap to be honest considering the 1 Million naira I placed on it.

No I didn't know anything about average down to be honest and my broker never told me anything about it.

I just read up on average down and I think that would have helped me if I had known.
Thank you for that info

...Always look at the whole picture before you make your decisions. FBN for some years now after they ran into bad loans kept dividend very low. The books are looking better now. The way they have turn around the business is also part of valuation metrics. I knew they were just playing a game of time with the numbers. This is why they release the Q1 2023 result together. The Q1 is very impressive. I still feel something is hidden from us from the finances which I will take time to look at. The bank used to be one of the most generous banks in terms of bonus shares. The books are good and with the former MD of Fidelity in the board, I have no doubt the days of #20 per share and great dividends are around the corner going forward. The NPL is greatly transformed and some of the loans they thought they lost are now being recovered even though provisions for loss were already made.

It can be for or against.

Compound interest will kill a debtor, compound interest is the friend of a creditor or an investor

You can start with as littles as 5-10k. Its either you use brokers like Stanbic, zenith, or vevita to buy stocks or mutual funds like I have mostly done or play the game your self which I believe is much better. There are apps like trove, bamboo and chaka. I have opted for chaka, as their fees seem most reasonable.

I would suggest you study as well and get good knowledge base. The group will help with this knowledge, but personally burning the candles surpasses any information most people will give you.

All the best
