Thank you, this always happens in a private company and few public firms but courage is required with prayers in a bid to be liberated.

Why not get a labor lawyer and file a case against him at the Federal Industrial Court? I wonder when some lawyers tell me they are broke when they can specialize in labor law and take over the case of people like OP and make a decent living for themselves as well.
Adjournment go frustrate the lawyer.

Never you share bad feelings you have about your boss again anywhere. With this attitude no one can employ you. I thought you would limit your write up to the low pay and exorbitant transport cost you are facing.

Feeling bitter about your boss and venting it only paint you with negative personality.
Are you his boss?Change your ways.

Have side hustle, with your phone and data, start online biz. You can start network marketing. In a good company like Revoobit international, you will tell your boss to shove his 45k. Good thing is you only do it with your phone, you promote the products, the buyers pay and you send their voucher to the stockists who sends the products to them. More like dropshipping. Want to know more, chat me on 08103164131. And their . Products are super effective.

I got a job as a hotel manager some months ago.

The hotel is a bit far from my house and I spend an average of N600 on transportation daily and the salary is 45k per month. Right now I'm fed up with the job.

The director is a man who doesn't take advice from anyone. He insults me at will and he says I'm stealing his money, even though he has no proof. I always leave the scene whenever he's around because he always has something to say and insult me at will even when I am not at fault.

He has gone round telling everybody that I and the bar man usually connive to steal his money which is completely false. The worst part is that he always threatens me with sack.

If not for the fact that I have kids to feed I would have resigned. I usually have this feeling of fear whenever am leaving for work in the morning. Just this morning he deducted 12k from my salary just because the security man resigned and went away with a student matress.

Right now I am in real distress because I am just so, so sad.

I just need some words of encouragement/discouragement because I am gradually loosing it.

As a family man for now you have no option but to exercise more patient and keep searching for a better job.

My very own father employed a labor lawyer when he was unjustly let go from his company back in the 1990s. Nigerians are just filled with excuses upon excuses for why they should not do the right thing. undecided

Please don't blame us too much. Many of us rely too much on ear says which makes it difficult for us to achieve that we can within our purview because we are easily distracted by naysayers. I have learned that it is sometimes unreasonable to be bothered by the plight of Nigerians as they do not seek help for the real reasons.

I am telling you! undecided Since the 1990s, na him my own papa use labor laws to win his case against his employers. But here in the year 2023, Nigerians are still beating their chests about their 1001 reasons not to apply the solutions available to them. Oga o! undecided

I wonder the kind d of hotel that pays manager 45k . Still get mind dey deduct managers salary . Most good hotels pay managers 100- 150k . Unless the poster is just a supervisor or duty manager . But whatever if he knows his worth and is good at what he does , he go just bounce for that place. The man is just killing his career and whirling away his time as well .imagine 7-10 pm . Gboskii it's always not easy.i believe he's still gin pay the lawyer right? With which money?
First talk to the lawyer before righting this off as a possible solution. The labor laws have been available to all in that same country since the beginning, but sadly, Nigerians are their own worst enemy, always chock full of reasons why not to use the tools available to them right there in the same country. undecided

Back in 2010, while watching the BBC documentary, "Welcome to Lagos", I was struck by an excellent example portrayed during the show of how Nigerian Laws work even for dumpster divers. One of the people followed by the cameras got into a fight with a fellow dumpster diver and got hurt as a result. The case was taken to court by the victim — a dumpster diver — and he was able to get compensation for his pain. But, when I contrast that with the claims made by average Nigerians on the street, you quickly realize that the problem isn't Nigeria at all but the general mentality of the people themselves.

Insult is an offensive word. Why not report your boss. However, you need to stand your ground when u know u aren't at fault.
Always look elsewhere for opportunity.

At some point, I had a boss that was a big pain in the ass and was about resigning from my job. My dad been an HR expert who worked for one of the Management Consultants who recruited senior positions (the company had the Ashoka tree as its logo) for many big firms told me not to but I should rather send an anonymous email to HR and let them know what I was going through. He said should they ask me to resign, that was the evidence we will take with us to FIC.

The head of HR then tried to make me unveil myself and I only told me I was a concerned staff and this were documents for his record. When my group head tried pulling a stunt, HR moved me to another department that had requested my service earlier and my boss never released me to.

It is unfortunate many of us bask in our ignorance and think the world still lives in the stone age. Perhaps, we have heard too much of the naysayers and can't see the light for once.
