I don't know how to put it but I will try.

An investor might have bought a stock, in order to sell the stock at a profit he would start hyping the stock in order to create demands for such stocks which will make the stock price to increase.

I believe when someone buys a stock and continues to talk about the growth potential of the stock at least once in a week consistently for the next 4 weeks or more on NSEMPA, the person is monkey hunting

IN memory of all those who lost their lives during pro-democracy struggle, may their soul rest in peace. For us who are alive, let us all strive to do good in our household, local community, places of worship, corporate and civil service. However small of an act it may seem, do it. This surely breeds a great culture in no distant future.

As we strive to make a living and secure a place for our respective household through NSE, remember to help someone / group of people, etc less fortunate than you are in any capacity. May we all be prosperous as we begin the second quarter half!. Long Live Nigeria, Happy Democracy Day everyone !!

Oga, leave those people abeg, a friend was telling me how he intends growing 20m in zenith bank to 300m In next 12yrs not waiting for dividend just buy at 19 sell at 26 take the money to MMF then reinvest again when The Price is lower then finally settle down for dividend of 20m yearly na that my closed eyes open that I needed to buckle up oo. Since he opened my eyes I have been thinking on how massive wealth can be made by being smart

When the bosses were telling you how unpredictable the market can be, you claimed to have mastered it by being smart .

Although you never saw this bull coming but you are so sure they will be slaughtered by the Bears. LOL!

That time is left for Mr Market and Time to decide, creating unnecessary panic won't work oooo.

One day, a fox got trapped in the forest and the tail was cut off as it was struggling to gain freedom. He now returned and held a meeting with fellow foxes. He told them he has discovered a better way of life which will be good to everyone. He told them to cut off their tails as he has done. One of the foxes replied to him, pls allow us to remain as we are while you remain as you are too.

Lesson:Dont because you don't have what others have and compelled them to be like you that have nothing.

I believe you can register directly but I registered using their link. Yes, they get a commission from AFEX.

Even if you go directly, you will need a broker - that's my understanding of the setup.

ojesymsym:
Where or how do you register on AFEX? Does that mean there will be no need to now use Morgan if one registers on AFEX?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by thesilentone(m): 3:41pm On Jun 12, 2023
I don't fully agree with your position on this, let me explain.

True diversification has to do with Asset classes, being able to add commodities to a portfolio vs all stocks variety is an advantage. I agree that folks have different approaches. We should agree that price and value are not the same thing.

Specifically to your points:

a. The AFEX platform, as I have seen, is priced in Naira - does price mirror the global market? Maybe.
b. Not sure this is a factor if point A is correct.
c. same as point b
d. AFEX (at least on their website) is secured and regulated by the SEC.

Caveat: Let everyone do their DD if commodities is good for them. I don't want to derail the thread as this is for equities.
BullBearMkt:

@thesilentone, your analogy is totally different. NSE is local and it's priced in Naira from day 1. Anyone that is interested in investing in NSE must have account in Naira irrespective of where he/she resides unlike commodities that are priced in USD and traded on Naira platform.

Some of my concerns are:
- Exchange rate risk: If the value of Naira depreciates against the USD, the value of your investments will decrease even if the commodity (for example gold) prices remain the same.
- Inflation risk: Naira often faces higher inflation rates compared to USD. This will also erode the real value of your investments over time.
- Lack of Local Regulation: My major concern. Since there is no regulator of commodities in Nigeria, the broker will be at liberty to misbehave. Nigeria SEC only regulate brokers on NSE, outside this, you are on your own! But a broker in regulatory environment will be cautious in cheating.

These are my personal opinion and should not be construed as being against anyone trading commodities with any Nigerian broker.

I don't know if I'm seeing this correctly, but NPFMCRFBK, which normally averages about 20 to 10 million naira per month, traded 372.4 million naira only this month. Why is there such a big difference? shocked

Is there value in acquiring it? Despite the large volume traded, the price has not moved significantly.

The stock needs to increase its earnings to be at par with the increase in ordinary shares from 2.28 billion in 2021 to 5.99 billion in 2022. Although their share capital and share premium were boosted by more than 4 billion naira, I think it is better to wait and see how they will put the extra funds to work.

Based on their audited earnings, my fundamentals indicates that they are very overvalued at the current price. However, a sharp trader may be able to make some money given the recent surge in volume. I will pass on this one. cheesy

In other news, the high volume of trading in UBA suggests that the bears will be defeated soon and the stock will be allowed to reach its rightful price. I believe that prices of 13 and 14 are possible. angry
