But you are categorically saying that a Team who swept you in 4 games inspite of the Bad refereeing, would not win it. grin grin
Ogbeni, this Nuggets team is the Truth. They are head and shoulders above any team in the NBA right now.

Won de. Impressive run. But common, Jokic no too shoot like that. It's an exaggeration to say his shooting was Steph kind of shooting. Neither was his defense Giannis kind of defense. I cannot begrudge him the first three. But I love it, what a way to place the man among the greats. The so-called "foreign born" players are here.
A40:
Saw an interesting take by Richard Jefferson on NBA today. Basically said this Jokic run is a combination of

KD scoring
Magic passing
Tim Duncan rebounding
Steph shooting
Giannis defense

And he brought out numbers and a solid argument to back it up. As we know the NBA is a copy cat league so it will be interesting to see if the league goes back to the traditional big man route. They will ultimately fail cos it takes a 1 of 1 like Jokic to pull that off

Just like teams have failed trying to spam 3pters like Steph. Denver showed that you can shoot horribly and still win,

We will see if teams will be able to come up with an antidote for Jokic, another underrated aspect of his game is his defense. Even till now people still bring up Embiid being better on defense I don't know maybe cos Embiid is black people just assume he's better but he was holding guys to 39% shooting as the closest defender

I don't know what it is about modern boxing that just doesn't get my juices flowing like before. Didn't see the fight tbvh.

I mean we have guys like Bud Crawford and Errol Spence who have refused to fight each other and all these promotions are all on some B.S

They are fighting next month. To be fair to the 2 boxers, they made the fight happen. If Crawford was still with Top Rank that old man Bob Arum would have blocked the fight forever.

Calm down ooo. Na today's NBA. cheesy grin. Na so we talk when Giannis pick him own ooo. We gotta see how the teams respond.

Season just ended and all teams will do alot of changes...
That's the problem with u guys .. u can't use last season to judge this one we are entering let's wait Nd see what will happen
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 2:46pm On Jun 15, 2023
Make we exercise some patience and restrain in crowning the Nuggets as next season’s champions. I am reading too many prisoners of the moment comment.

Are they they best team today? Yes. Do they have the best player in the league? Yes . However, a lot will change between now and the playoff next season.

@Benji93 put it perfectly when he said we have to wait and see how the Nuggets respond to having a target behind them. Everyone wants more after the first one but subsequent seasons are dynamic.

He was taking a little under 5 3s a game. He wasn't shooting at the volume obviously but the percentages don't lie. I didn't say he was Steph I'm saying he was getting the same results

I didn't say he was Giannis either but he is getting the same results playing his way. And that's remarkable in itself.

It's similar to how some people say Lebron is not a scorer, he's a pass first guy. Meanwhile he is averaging same ppg as KD and is #2 all time in FGA and actually takes more shots per game than KD, Kareem and Karl Malone

This is why boxing is dying. I can't remember the last time I cared about any big boxing fight especially in the lower weights because everyone seems to be doing everything but fighting. Everybody dey give their 0 close marking and it's telling why there are so many undefeated fighters cause they're all ducking each other

Good to finally see Bud and Spence go at it. Somebody's O has got to go

Ehn that's why I asked if na Lakers go win since you defiantly said the Nuggets don't have a shot.

I'm not God I can't guarantee my next breath so we're all simply playing prediction game. I am going by what I've seen and following NBA patterns. Repeats are fairly common and Denver have all the ingredients of a team that can dominate at sustained levels. They're not a hurriedly assembled Superteam with aging stars, they've gotten it out the mud, drafted their talent and have won the most difficult title which is the first

I don't think it's a leap to suggest they can win more

Oga rest Denver won't win it next season

Barring any major injuries, I'd be here to remind you in 12 months time. What other teams do in the next few months will be the difference between another 16-4 run or a 16-11 run.

No two days or teams are alike. Let's look at the Bucks vs Nuggets

Holiday 33 Murray 26
Middleton 32 Gordon 28
Lopez 35 Porter Jr 25

The average age of their core is 26.5

No one is saying it's a given they get back to the top but suggesting they can't is just wrong when they clearly have all the necessary ingredients.

Their only hindrance is injuries
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 8:26pm On Jun 15, 2023
I agree, they can't is just wrong. Their ages suggest they can dominate for the next 4 years, I would bet they can reach the conference finals at least twice, but winning it all is what I can't bet on. Getting to the finals next year would be more suggestive.

Na that 0 loss gan gan be their problem. We have fights like Fury/Usyk, Canelo/Benevidez, Bivol/Beterbiev and other top fights waiting to happen and these guys keep ducking themselves or at least one of them ducks. The governing bodies do not help at all, they don't sanction fights anymore, some boxers now fight just Once in 2/3 years and they are happy. I was so happy the day that yeye Okolie lost, baba dey fight just once in a blue Moon. Boxing is dying a gradual death while there's so many talented boxers, but these days, no one wants to give anyone a shot. Fights needs to be made, everyone is concerned about the money now and holding on to titles. When titles too plenty, wetin we go expect before

Ja is getting only 25 games suspension. So by December guy man will be back in the league. I hope the behavioral requirements are stricter this time.

I think many folks will be dissappointed as they were expecting like a 40+ game suspension at least. But Im ok with it, even though I think its a little light. Lets hope the young man grows up quick and gets back to good things. even though I know his family is partly the reason he is in this situation, and those guys will likely not change

When people where talking 40+ games it surprised me a bit, yes he broke rules but this is the USA, owning a gun is not a crime. This is the country where politicians use guns in election campaign adverts.

Too many belts. Too many promoters. Too many ways to make EASY money EARLY in careers.

There is a reason it is almost unheard of for a great boxer to come from a wealthy family.

In the 70s and 80s the only sure way to make money was for the best fighters to fight the best fighters. Now there are belts everywhere and with social media hype any decent fighter can make life altering money.

The last point is the obsession with the 0 that was engendered by Floyd. You are right on that one. We now see boxers tap dancing around each other to avoid losing their undefeated record.

Those 3 fights you mentioned should have opened organically but fans are being cheated.

Its part of the contract. All the talking heads and pro athletes know this. Even the amateur athletes have rules, things that are legal, but you cannot participate in. And its for good reason - how would the headline NBA superstar murdered father of four in clold blood play out? The press would be all over the court proceedings, corporate sales of tickets would tank and NBA would absorb a billion dollar loss easily. So its not out of the ordinary to have conduct codes on things that others can do freely.

I get that it's part of the code of conduct, but if we are going through a list of agregious things a nba player can be accused of flashing a gun in an ig post in way down the list especially since it's the USA. My point is I heard some people say the 25 games without pay was too light a sentence and IMHO the nba actually got it right.

You are very wrong. Any conduct that is detrimental to the image of the league needs to addressed firmly, especially repeat offenders. The NBA is quite left leaning and when a superstar player displays guns for fun after the first incident, a big problem the country is struggling to grapple with, especially when you consider the number of deaths we have suffered this year alone, then it reeks of Ja’s insensitivity to the situation.

It’s a different thing if he shows his guns during a hunting session or a target session..Publicly displaying guns for fun and to arouse fans is careless and can compromise his own safety. While it is his right to own a gun, there is no where it allows him to just display it for fun.

Personally, I am disappointed it was 25 games considering it is a repeat offense. I was hoping he would be suspend until after the All-Star games or regular season. He is not the only player that owns a gun but he is obviously irresponsible and immature.

It is NOT low on the list. It is very high in fact. If you are using the media, you will get a false sense of what carrying a gun means in the USA. Contrary to what most of the world thinks, people are not toting guns around like yahoos.

In fact, the first thing an arms trainer will tell you is to 1. NEVER remove your gun unless you intend to use it. Once you bring it out, the tactical options are impossible to control. And 2. to never advertise you have a gun. 99% of the populace abides by these rules, wether right or left leaning, florida or california. And that is because it is way too easy to do something stupid and irreversible, like a stray bullet killing a baby. Those things go in straight lines farther than your human mind accounts for, and they will enter bedrooms, cars etc regardless of your intent. And its not like the movies - bullets have gone through homes and killed sleeping kids.

Only a few crazies are going around toting guns. Even in open carry states, no fool is carrying his gun around openly. In that context, what Ja is doing is extremely foolish. And if he accidentally injures or kills someone, the NBA will be added to a lawsuit, even if it is frivolous.
