"The Most Powerful Prayer A Christian Could Ever Pray"

Indeed, the prayer you have mentioned holds great significance in the life of a Christian. In Luke 22:42, Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of surrender and obedience to God by praying, "Father, may your Will be done and not my own." This prayer encapsulates the essence of true discipleship and is a testament to the depth of faith and trust in God.

By sincerely praying this prayer, Christians acknowledge that God's will surpasses their own desires and plans. It is an act of surrendering one's ego and submitting to the divine purpose. This prayer reflects the heart's willingness to align with God's guidance and follow His path, even in the face of challenges and suffering.

Jesus, being the Son of God, set the perfect example by uttering these words during His most difficult moments. Despite His anguish, He prioritized God's will above His own comfort. As followers of Christ, we are called to emulate His example and live out His teachings. It is through denying ourselves and embracing God's will that we truly become His disciples.

The prayer emphasizes the importance of humility, obedience, and trust in our relationship with God. It serves as a reminder that our faith is not merely a superficial label but a transformative journey towards becoming more Christlike. By continuously praying and striving to align our will with God's, we invite His guidance and blessings into our lives.

May we all have the strength and conviction to sincerely pray, "Father, may your Will be done and not my own," and walk in the footsteps of Christ.

Not trying to hold brief for the OP in this or anything, but why would God want that? What God says He wants instead is for men to obey HIs teachings and commandments. That has been His mandate from even Adam, and it remains the same mandate to this day. For you to think that God wants you to raise your hand in praise when He previously explained that all your offerings — your praises, works, prayers, offerings, etc., — are made filthy by your sins and hence an abomination to Him means you probably need to do some stepping up where God is concerned. God wants only one thing from you and that is your trust and obedience to His Law. undecided

How nice it would sound and look if you don't add that wrong smiley to you every post.

The Most Powerful Prayer A Christian Could Ever Pray

"Father, may your Will be done and not my own" Luke 22:42

This is the most powerful prayer anyone could ever pray.

If you claim to be a Christian but have never sincerely and from your heart prayed this prayer, it means your Christianity is still at a shallow level and yet a long way from becoming Christlike.

This is the example Christ set for His followers during the most trying and troubling time in His life and ministry on Earth.

It was so troubling for Him, He even asked God if it be His Will to take the cup away from Him, yet He said to the Father, "not my Will but yours be done". Luke 22:42

Therefore, if He who was the One and Only begotten Son of God, who hence didn't deserve to go through such sufferings, would humble Himself to that point before the Father, how much more those of us who deserve to suffer such things?

If we claim to be His followers, we must also prove it by following His example and His Word, by denying themselves, taking up our crosses to follow Him, just He denied Himself, took up His cross and followed His Father regardless of where He led Him.

Matthew 16:24 (KJV)

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

That's when we truly become His followers, by doing likewise, denying ourselves and saying sincerely from our hearts just as the Master had done, "Father, may your Will be done, and not my own".

That the most powerful prayer we could ever pray as followers of Christ.

God bless.

Yeah, no doubt!

God has principal will for all, and especially His children in all areas or facets of their lives. But most Christians don't find out (most time, it doesn't come cheaply to know God's will for every areas of our lives),or some are not even willing to follow it after knowing it, thinking it is inferior to their personal plan or agenda.

At face value, God's will doesn't always look attractive to a common man

Kobojunkie:
You see, Scripture states that God does not answer the prayers of the unrighteous; the pleas and requests and every petition, praise, offering, work, plea, sacrifice, etc., of the unrighteous are tainted by their sins(disobedience/unholiness) and are hence an abomination to God. So, what is definite is that even your many pleas for the forgiveness of sins are not answered by God given that God made no special exemptions for that kind of plea. No amount of praying can cause God to change His mind regarding that which concerns the unrighteous by the way. So if you are thinking of prescribing more prayers that only means you really don't understand or know God at all. undecided

God, however, openly bragged about how He only answers the prayers of the righteous; He delights in granting them the desires of their heart meaning that they are those who are loved by Him. For this very reason, Jesus Christ urged His followers to seek first the Kingdom of God and God's Righteousness in order that all things— the blessings and rewards of the Kingdom of God(holiness), answers to prayers included—shall be added on to them. And as Jesus Christ explained in His Gospel, the only way to become Holy, and then also Righteous, is by way of continuous submission and obedience to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ, god's Truth and Law in the Kingdom of god - John 8 vs 31 - 36 & John 14 vs 15 - 23. Jesus Christ is the only way. Obedience to the Truth of God is the one and only path to righteousness. No amount of praying and other religious rituals can accomplish that. undecided

God deals indirectly with the unrighteous, the same way He deals with the unbelievers including the wicked and the ungrateful and that is by pouring out His mercy and kindness on them daily. So every time as an unrighteous you feel that God has answered your prayer know that at that same moment, or moments before that, God also provided the same mercy or similar to someone else across the world — or maybe just across from you— who does not even believe in God, nor asked God for anything. So, if answers from God are what you seek, then do what Jesus Christ said you should, which is to seek first the Kingdom of God(holiness), and then God's righteousness, in order that all these things —the blessings and rewards of the Kingdom of God(including answers to prayers) can be added to you. undecided

1. The Will of God refers to His Law/Covenant/Constitution. Your unrighteous prayers will avail nothing. However, it is the Will of God that those who seek Him obey His commandments regardless. undecided

As for when the Will of God will be done, it will be done in your life when the Truth of God is revealed to you and you seek first the Kingdom of God(holiness), ans God's righteousness.. undecided

2. Whatever is done is only seen as God's Will by the religious and ignorant. For instance the abominations offered by the unrighteous to God aren't of God's Will since they are instead born of unholiness. Definitely, unholiness is not of God's Will and Law. undecided

The unrighteous are to pray in obedience to God's Law as that the mandate that God has given to all those who seek Him. undecided

Total waste of time and space sorry to say. Instead of always finding faults try and learn.

The greatest thing you can ever do for God is allowing his will to become yours. That's why I would always tell him father your will and not mine

Father now I am begining to understand, I can't please you by my own power. Father I surrender my will to you let your will become my will and I pray you give me the grace to obey.
Wonderful holy spirit guide me, lead me to all truth, teach me and tell me more about jesus, come and live your will through me.
Blessed Jesus I thank you for making this possible for saving me when I was so filthy I could not behold my God, blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord.

One more thing my brothers and sisters have no fear if you trust in the lord he is with you, but remember your only fear should be never grieve the holy spirit, he is all we have, all I have in this word, he is the only person who has genuine good will towards us. There is so much to say but too little vocabulary that we humans are capable of

In all father your will be done and not mine.

Good morning holy spirit, I love you

God bless you too brother, you are very correct,. It's a prayer of total surrender to the lordship of the Almighty God in our lives. At this point there's absolute trust, dependence on whatever God. throws at us and the good thing is that He always give us an answer of peace
