I'm 22, will be 23 soon but I've just started 100lvl in Radiography.

In my department, I have a colleague who studied Water engineering, served and worked for some years, but still came back to pursue a degree in ràdiography. Man is in his 30's.

Use your 20's to pursue your dreams and u'll be glad you did in your 30's.

I'm not going to lie though, the zeal and passion for education has greatly reduced compared to when I was much younger. I just hope I get a spark to revamp my passion soon.

I did spend a lot of years trying to get admission into a medical course. Right now, it really doesn't interest me. Nothing actually interest me right now.
Wow, congratulations chief on you admission. Radiography is a great medical course. I will like to connect with you via whatsapp or facebook, but why is anything doesn`t interest you?

When it comes to medical school, age doesn't matter. Forget about your secondary school mates being far ahead of you. Everyone has their own time zone. It is just a matter of time. Before you know it, you are done with medical school. In my class, there is a man who's in his 40's or 50's and he is married. Look at it, if someone at that age can be studying Medicine, then why should you be concerned when you are just 22? There are also those with first degree in my class and in the level lower than mine. Just focus on your goals and make sure they are achieved. Forget about age when it comes to medical school.
All right chief, i will. I am extremely grateful, i sincerely appreciate.

If you've been curious about how Nigerian MBBS Accreditation works, I've done the research for you. I've talked about what it takes for a medical school to be fully accredited by MDCN, NUC and Federal Ministry of Health. All the steps have been outlined and explained. Watch here:

Greetings to all the amazing personalities of this great forum. Age goes by what it`s called. I am 22 now. Does my age an impediment or a limiting factor still be considered because of not being in medical school by now; going by my classmates and those that i am ahead of in secondary school are now currently in 300l ,200l, 100l. Sporadically as per say some are through with ND, IT while some just gained admission to study one course or the other but not actually their dream course, although some are lucky because they got their heart desired course. My stand here is..is age an impeding factor in medical school using my self as a reference point?
Hello SF, I understand how you feel. smiley People keep saying that age doesn't matter. But from experience, it could matter along the line! Just be sure that it's what you want for yourself. You will definitely get older. It's better to get older while doing what you want. If age is to 'restrict' you at all, you are your 'restriction'. Noone will refuse to give you MBBS admission because of your 'age'.

Anyway, incase you've not seen this series, I talked about my personal experience. I talked about the challenges of starting medical school as a second degree or at age 25+. I also gave advice to those in this category.

Hello Chief,
In my honest opinion, you shouldn't even be asking this.

22 years? Dah, you are a very young man

There are more than 10 persons in my class who are over 40. Most of them are married with children.
But here they are, chasing hard after their dreams because the race of life is not a Sprint but a marathon. Each person has his own race to run, and you are not in a competition with anyone.

It's all a matter of purpose and passion. If you strongly believe that this is what you are meant to do with your life, then carry on my brother, nothing do you.

When you finally get in, it will be worth it and you will forget all your toiling and labour, trust me.
May God bless everything you do.

Age is the last thing you should worry about in med school….
You’ll definitely meet people way older than you when you get in. So don’t let that limit you in anyway, just focus on yourself and let every other thing fall in place.

Tonye001, I want to be the first to congratulate you here on the successful completion of your medical degree.
You persevered, sacrificed, and I'm happy for you that your dream is here.
You're indeed a source of motivation to anyone who might think he's a bit behind in the medical degree pursuit. With an MSc and married, you took on the seemingly daunting task and it's all over now. Regards to the family.
Congratulations once again, Dr A.I Tonye (Bsc, MSc, MB;BS)

Hi Medics,

It's been a very long walk for me. I recall when I first found this thread, it was when I was looking for admission into medschool. I once wrote then that I'd be back here one day to share my testimony. Today is that day. As of yesterday, I qualified as a medical doctor.

The past seven years have really been interesting. I was supposed to finish medschool in 5 years as I was a DE student. But Nigeria happened to me, I got two more years even though I did not repeat any class. But here I am today celebrating success.

I thank you all for all you do here. I thank the creator of this thread (Chief Lagusta). I thank the posters. I thank those that ensured this page didn't die. This thread helped me, it helped many before me, and it will help many after me. I've just concluded my medschool diary, if interested, you may want to read through it.

For all those still in the training, and for those still trying to get in, I wish you all success. It's possible, just continue trying.

Best wishes, friends. Have a great evening.

Dr. Tonye001.

Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Nolevel666: 3:18am On Jun 20, 2023
Hello house, hope everyone’s doing great

I’m aspiring for MBBS @ Uniben next year.

Finished high school a couple years ago, written jamb 4 times with scores 251,273,275,283 respectively.
was pursuing Bsc.nursing at the time but just couldn’t get admitted into the school (uniben).

Now I’m giving it a new shot(last time i wrote jamb was 2020).

Note, I’m naturally gifted with computers but fam want me to join uncle who’s a nurse in the Uk and me not really having that passion for the course in the first place had an impact on my performances the last few times i tried and if you notice, i seemed to have a post utme issue each time.

But, the tech sector on the other hand, has really been flooded lately by Indians and AI(Artificial intelligence), so the tech industry wouldn’t be paying much in the next few years due to lots of available job seekers and automation like ChatGPT but,

i do think i can make an impact on the health sector particularly surgical operations with the use of Virtual Reality softwares, because, getting patients to practice on in real time isn’t an easy task, considering the emotional impact it has on both the patient and the practicing student doctor and other unforeseen events that may occur during the operation.

With the help of MBBS, i could harness my computer skills to create and simulate Virtual surgical environments (operating theatres) where students can operate on virtual patients, covering diverse surgical procedures and cases, so that practicing students wouldn’t be much scared of failing to accomplish the task put before them and thereby putting someone’s mother/father/relation in danger all in the name of learning.

The virtual process would involve( in my projection) all standard surgical procedures and methods that must be done before, during, and after the virtual surgery, and the system will be designed to score the participant, his/her due score, based on a predefined performance scale.

So, even if i never had all that interest in studying Medicine(i did in my teen years, much has changed due to experiences life throws at one), i can at least make use of both knowledge(MBBS and Computers combined) to create the above mentioned program (maybe while in school or during my masters) to help students who struggle during surgery practice and to also avoid potential patient casualties and complications.

Any advice?
