I read and agree with Bill Gates's recent comment on the "japa" syndrome, where, according to reports, he stated that the recent surge of Nigerian professionals leaving the country for greener pastures is good and healthy for our country.

I have always preached and maintained this same position on the "japa wave". For years now, and throughout my campaign in the last Presidential election, especially during my tours from Canada, the USA, Germany, the UK, and other countries,

I maintained that "Our brain drain today will be our brain gain tomorrow." Nigerians leaving the country may look like a loss today, but when we start doing the right things and taking the governance of our nation more seriously

the knowledge and resources from them will be critical in the building of the New Nigeria
, as it happened in China, India, Ireland and other developing countries.

Today, India prides itself as one of the countries with the biggest tech talents in the world, having produced some of the world’s top engineers and computer scientists. Many top global tech companies are headed by CEOs of Indian origin.

So India's success in the tech industry can partly be attributed to its ability to harness the knowledge and resources of Indians in the diaspora for their national growth.

Nigeria will grow and develop on all fronts when we build the New Nigeria that prioritises investment in education, health, and support for small businesses, guarantees respect for the rule of law, security of lives and properties, and unity of the nation.

Then our diasporan Nigerians around the world will return home with their global training, skills and resources, to immeasurably contribute to building a New and better Nigeria. We will not give up on our dreams for the New Nigeria. -PO

The nuclear reactor

Why not talk about the local Japa within Nigeria that make some people not to stay put in their region .

Even Obi himself na local Japarian

Modified - The culprits should stop the unnecessary attacking all in the name of mentioning.

Sebi go back home is now a suicidal statement.

Damnnn niggar
Obi my niggar
Heffalump:

The whole world know he's the right person except some ill intentioned persons
Anyday anytime twice on Thursday
1)All educated youth in Nigeria are aware...
Name two states or region with educated, Liberal, intelligent, enlightened and exposed people
Definitely it will be lagos and Abuja right!
And obi won those states
2) the three major contestants were from the three major region...atiku(hausa), tinubu( yoruba), obi(igbo)
So the South South were in a better position to choose because no one among the contestants were their brother....and guess what the South South chose obi
3) osun state is the home of tinubu and yet tinubu lose am because osun state is some how seen as the most educated place in South west...which means tinubu is not even supposed to be among the contestants..not to talk of becoming the president
So if you are a Nigerian youth and you can't figure out this simple truth then your education is a total waste and you need to collect your school fees from any tertiary institution you finished from

Forgive me Sir....but you are wrong. People have no intention of returning. Foreign countries benefit from the taxes these people pay and use the money to better their society.....only recently Ghana realised they no longer had enough nurses for their own population because of Japa syndrome.

Also anything Bill Gates says is good.....know that it's bad for Africans.

So many Africans are cleaning old Oyibo people's Ynash and paying them tax for the privilege.

I like your position too. Nobody should be underpaid when they can be better paid else where and stopping people from travelling is unconstitutional and a joke. If it gets better, the diaspora with their wealth of knowledge and experience will come back...💛

As far as I know, Japa syndrome is bad for this country, we have to create the atmosphere that they see abroad.
Expertise leaving the country to be a brain in other countries technology while we are left with quack doctors and engineer is bad for us

Peter Obi, a man that knows the problem of Nigeria and have the magic hand to turn things around like he did in Anambra.Anambra was once a laughing stock, Obi came and performed, today Anambra Is proudly the Light of the Nation and Obi stopped Anambra from paying him pension after his tenure unlike some former Governors increasing their pension and salaries by 114%

Only if they leave for the right reasons and doing the right things..

For every Nigerian that migrates... an average of N6m fx worth goes with them. If FDI is not returned through that individual, that's a loss for Nigeria.

D only good thing is dat d people abroad send back money.... D money can help drive our economy....

We are not using our resources both human and natural resources to develop our nation.... D literal meaning of Japa is to go and never come back..... Back then we go abroad study and come back to develop our nation... D country was still good then... But now it's d other way around

People have no intention of returning in 20 yrs time from now you'll start seeing a lot of Nigerian names especially in d UK..

So Mr Peter obi is very wrong on dis.. He is only supporting it because his wards are direct beneficiaries

Our best brains are leaving to contribute to the development of other nations and u say we should keep cheering them up

Obi!

The bone they could not swallow!

The man they could not arrest!

The white they could not stain!

I’m sure they never believed an Igbo man would be the one holding them by the balls like this.

Doesn’t matter the outcome of the court, Obi has earned his respect and idiots like Kwankwaso who were running their mouth before the election are now hiding in shame.
