Continue standing with the good doctrine you have acquired.dont be inferior when you are doing the right things.Dont look at yourself as if you are holy than them rather be humble, gain good things from them .e.g speaking in tongues if it is not what they learn but which is original from God.

In the heart, we serve God
This is what modern pastors have used to scam and deceive people. Amd this this what people, especially our youths and women love to hear. That's why you see a lot of crowd in these churches cos they don't want to hear the truth which will scare them. They want a pastor that will assure them that dressing on a mini skirt doesn't matter, but what you have in the heart.

How can you dress in a way that is secually provocative if your intention isn't to get attention?

Are you going to church for fashion or to serve God?

Honestly I feel that these people are deceiving themselves. It's better to sit at home and go to church when you truly mean to serve God.

Happy sunday nairalanders.
I moved to a new area(Student area) and decided to attend a nearby church.

These are what I noticed.

-- I was the only one that used scarf.Even the choristers and the female ministers didn't use scarf.

--Almost all the female members are putting on trousers, ladies that put on gowns/skirt are not up to 20%.
I was even surprised that the two female ministers and the female choristers also put on trouser to climb the church alter.

--During prayer intersection,I noticed everybody were praying in tongues and it seems am the only person not filled with the holy spirit to speak in tongues.
Even when we were asked to pray on our offering, people still prayed in tongues.

And it just seems I'm odd among them or is it that am not modernized?
Speaking in tongues is not a modern invention.

Adjust or look for Redeemed, Baptist, Catholic, MFM and others.

The last time you went to your village to great your parents, or grand parents did you go to the market square to complain about things you saw that did meet your expectations. Be careful that satan doesn't turn into his agent. You have a very wrong motive behind your complaining on nairaland.

They use that tongues to deceive themselves.

In the book of Acts of Apostles, the disciples gathered in a room and prayed and they were filled with the Holy Ghost and they began to speak in different tongues, this days, people don’t even pray to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, they just suddenly start saying it like say na normal thing

All the characteristics you noticed among them are the trademarks of criminals.

You are the only pure one among them.

That's the message.

****

Leave and go to a Catholic Church. Outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation.

You shouldn’t feel odd.

- that they majorly wore trousers don’t make the less of God’s children as well as you, and that they’re characterized with wearing skirts (or iro), don’t make them true Christians at heart. God sees every heart and intent and know who serves and loves Him.
- same with scarf. It’s a doctrinal topic. In CAC, MFM and their likes, men don’t cover their head in church or prayers. Whereas in bible times, they did, to pray, even still done in Israel today. You find skull caps and mitres on priests of episcopal rank in orthodox settings. So, it’s a doctrinal practice and not an element of your faith in, love for, and worship of Jesus Christ as LORD.
- Speaking in tongues is a gift given as a token oft evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. It’s a New Testament substance. We had prophets of old and fathers in faith who lived in Old Testament times carry God’s Spirit (e.g Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, David, even Joseph), but not with the evidence of speaking in tongues because it wasn’t a thing of their dispensation. All you need to do is ask God to give you that gift ‘cos the advantage is massive. Caveat: That one speaks in tongues doesn’t make the person a true Christian. Cain and Abel both offered sacrifices (in this case, speaking in tongues) but He refused Cain’s (just as He hears not the the one who regards iniquity in his/her heart).

I hope this helps.

It is a slap that the church is becoming like the world in the name of modernization. My sister, standout in crowd continuously despite the storm.

One things is sure, God's standard cannot be lowered.

In my opinion, your definition of modernization in this context I think doesn't.
As a born again, dressing is paramount in church and outside. This debate never ends. I'll say, ignore doctrines and religion. Search the scriptures yourself and stay with your conviction.
