Why must they always buy for you at highest price possible and sell at lowest price possible, even when you can see better offers/bids with your korokoro eyes It obvious they programmed their system to cheat when you buy/sell with market order

That's the problem. Maybe they buy at lower price but record you at higher price and book the difference.

Market orders should mean selling first at the highest available price, then next highest if the first quantity is not enough. Same for buying.

My advice is that if you really want to enter or exit a trade at market price, you should use limit orders to target available quantity(-ies) until you get what you want.

Dividends have nothing to do with stock prices, but with the earnings of the business.

Dividend yield of 10% and above which we enjoyed in the past was an aberration, we should get used to dividend yield of 5% to 8%.

That is not correct my brother. Where is the place of Dividend Relevance theory from Professor John Litner?

Stock trading at 81kobo, to delist at 65kobo. Wonders of NSE.
But I heard this company is owned by the same people that formed access bank.

So the pumping to 0.98k that occur a week ago was for some people to jump out, while others hold the bag .
Thanks God for my guts that told SELL.
Wapic that I bought since 2006 and hold till 2023 with go for nothing dividend to write about.

Not sure you understood the question and my reply.

Because stock prices went up, he expected dividend to also go up.

Earnings and earning growth is the koko, with earning growth, dividends will increase, will earning growth and increase in dividends, stocks will have sustainable capital appreciation.

Imagine if the buyout offer was say N2 or more, this comment would have been that of regret. Reason we must always embrace our decision and every outcome of our action when trading stocks. After all, it's just a market!

I understand you well my brother but I still disagree with you. Earnings and earning growth does not mean company would pay good dividend or increase their dividend. Dividend payment is a policy of a company. A company may experienced good EPS and EPS growth, but pays little or even no dividend. We have a lot of them here as an example. So dividend payment and earning growth are two different concepts. After all, dividend is not paid from the earning but reserve.
Have a nice day

Again, you did not understand his question.

He asked this question, " with the current increase in stock prices will the companies increase their dividends" ?

And I said there was no relationship between stock price increase and dividend increase.

Dividends are paid from earnings

It is earning growth that determines sustainable stock price appreciation.

Increasing the dividend due to earning will increase the stock price on the long run, ploughing back the earnings to reinvest in the company will compound earning growth .

Can you explain, dividends are not paid from earnings but from reserve.

Good companies, with good current financial performance pay dividends from their earnings

Wow everything going to the moon! I have a question for the ogas, with all these crazy prices, will companies be increasing their dividends to match the massive run up?

For example, Stanbic, will they be forced to pay like N6? How about GT and Zee? Should we be expecting like N4?

Can’t even find any decent yielding stocks to buy again smh

The way I understand it, brokers make the deals and send values to CSCS. It's possible they will choose high offers from their clients (for a buy order) and execute in-house before CSCS knows about it. I stand to be corrected.

Where were you when it was selling at a bargain? Where were you when it was advertised here? Where were you when it was pointed out that insiders were buying? Where were you when Youngbuffet said "No," and some of us said "Yes"? Look at the charts and how far they have moved from there January price, and make your own choice. cheesy wink

@ogoo4real, just be patient and you will see many more opportunities in the near future. In terms of which of the 2 stocks you mentioned is better for short term profit, then I will ask you back that what is your short-term? Is it 1 day or 1 week or 1 month?
Not that short term carries its own risk.

You described front-running, which is a type of insider trading. This is illegal because it gives the broker an unfair advantage.

Ahhh. That is not short term. Rather it is sharp sharp. Short-term should be something in the range of 6 months to 1yr.

Presently, what you described is possible when the client is in agreement with the deal i.e. a price is agreed off-market and trade completed on NGX, the official fees are paid at the executed price, then consideration exchanged with client as agreed.

A client has right/opportunity to get his trade history from CSCS giving prices, quantity and dates. Any distortion with what the firm gives him can be queried and the firm risks sanctions. The scenario where firm tells you a different price from price of execution could happen maybe 20years ago.
