Is this threat of boycotting the Canada game really strong? I can't remember when last any country boycotted a game at a FIFA organized tournament, let alone a world cup.. the implications would be severe... Abi the players just want the NFF to do something?? Danielnino00:How much is their bonus that they would risk missing out on 30k? They better forget about the NFF and focus on the real money giver which is FIFA. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 7:33pm On Jul 07, 2023 |
I doubt the boycott stories anyway. Nff may feel bad that they won't get hands on the fifa largesse so they may decide to play another card. This is the women's side. If this repeats with the SE, then it's high time some gets rid of all of them even if Fifa bans. Cos this is highly embarrassing. I'll still be following. But for now, Nff are the villians making randy look like some st revered in some prayers. |

Danielnino00:Well, I can't say if the rumour is legit. However, the players should consider the larger picture and play the match. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 9:51pm On Jul 07, 2023 |
Danielnino00:Can't speak to how strong the threat is, but I feel the girls involved the media to pressure the NFF into back tracking. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 10:14pm On Jul 07, 2023 |
Deltamani:Insane last 10 minutes, congrats Zambia, they made a statement. Germany definitely had an off day, they lacked their normal finishing strength. Zambia definitely had a speed advantage & the 10 minutes added of extra time was just robbery. |

Deltamani:i just watched highlights. Omo. Looks like Zambia are the only african rep that have done all protocols deserving of a competition of huge calibre in a few weeks time, off and on pitch. They still have some glitches but they can hold their own. Morroco no sabi. SF may play for themselves with all these brouhaha. If they see it as their careers, the better. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 6:57am On Jul 08, 2023 |
daveP:Using all their strategies before the competition proper isn't what one can call a wise move as their opponents will now know which of them (Zambians) to mark out of play when they eventually meet on the field of play ! Let me not use friendly game to judge performance. The main competition performance is where we will see the difference in all teams.... Its going to be a different ball game against Spain, Japan who are very good in keeping possession. I wish them best of luck, though! |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 7:03am On Jul 08, 2023 |
Spain will be without their Best Center Back Mapi Leon, their best Defensive midfielder Patri who does the dirty job for Aitana and Alexia. The SuperFalcons really need to take this Zambians victory as a boost too that they can do it. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 7:28am On Jul 08, 2023 |
Deltamani:The Zambians were particularly impressive in their attacking play.. However, their defensive organization in set piece situations is below average. Too many times, a German player had a free run to head in the ball of a corner kick or free kick, which on another day, may have resulted in a 3 or 4-2 win for the Germans |

NFF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT No idea where boycott story is coming from – Super Falcons’ captain, Onome Ebi Captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Onome Ebi has denied a story by a leading Nigerian newspaper (which is being circulated widely) that the nine-time African champions are threatening to boycott their FIFA Women’s World Cup opening game against Canada in Melbourne on Friday, 21 July. “I have no idea where that (boycott) is coming from. We (the players) never had any such conversations as regards that; we are good with training and ready for the World Cup,” Ebi told thenff.com at the team’s training camp in Gold Coast, Australia on Saturday morning. The hard-as-nails defender, who is featuring in her sixth FIFA World Cup finals, added that the team’s training sessions have been intense but interesting, as they look forward to their Group B encounters against Olympic champions Canada, co-hosts Australia and debutants Republic of Ireland. “The sessions have been intense, motivating and okay. The girls are in good shape, good spirit and ready to go. The training speaks for itself as regards the mood in camp because this is what I bargained for. “The players are meeting up with physical and tactical aspects of training; the mood is okay.” |
