Quite agree with you; we all have our internal securities problems to deal with.
Both Mali and Niger have at least 25% of the territory occupied by terrorists.

Invading there is so pointless. Imagine fighting Boko Haram, fighting Niger and then fighting terrorists in Niger as well.

Niger: the German government calls for continued "mediatory efforts" with the new authorities

The German government called on Friday to continue "mediate efforts" with the military who took power by force in Niger to find a political outcome and avoid any armed intervention.

"It is important that we first leave room for mediation efforts and that these mediation efforts can be carried out, in the hope that a political solution will result," said a spokesman for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a regular press conference.

Coup: Nigeria Closes Border With Niger Republic

Nigeria has closed its border with Niger Republic following the military coup that ousted the democratically-elected government of President Mohammed Bazoum.

Acting Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi disclosed this on Friday at Illela border, Sokoto state.
According to him, with the current situation in Niger, the borders have been closed, and there are restrictions of movement along the areas.

He, therefore, advised Nigerians who were planning to travel to Niger to stay safe at home, saying that only Nigerians that are returning home were allowed to cross the border.

He also said Nigeria Customs had deployed its personnel to block all the unorthodox roads through which some of the foreigners may likely infiltrate.

“You know Sokoto and Niger Republic, we are a homogeneous society, with the same language, religion and culture, but we have a colonial boundary which we must respect.”

Resources are assembled, plans perfected; Niger coup leader will be forced out of power— ECOWAS.

ECOWAS says the bloc has assembled all resources & perfected plans to invade Niger Republic to force out the military junta & reinstate its democratically elected leader, President Mohamed Bazoum.

“All the elements that would go into any eventual intervention have been brought out here & been refined, including the timing, the resources needed & the how & where & when we are going to deploy such a force,” the ECOWAS commissioner for political affairs, peace & security, Abdel-Fatau Musah, assured at a meeting with other ECOWAS chiefs in Abuja on Friday, August 4, 2023.

“We will make them handover to the civilian authorities,” He added.

There are still 2 days left before the ultimatum ECOWAS gave the junta to stand down and allow democracy to reign but Abdouramane Tchiani seems implacable and unwilling to back down, evidenced in an announcement to c¥t off ties with its neighbour, Nigeria and three other nations.

I almost didn’t mind these coups. Many of there grievances are legitimate. The problem is the military regimes will not transfer towards civilian rule. If they did that very few outside of France would care. These are just opportunistic generals exploiting their country’s grievances to establish their own Dynasties.

The Francophones & others shouldn’t be trusted outside of maybe Senegal and Benin to a degree. These days there hotbed basket cases split between Juntas, Islamist, Neo-Colonial France, and an opportunistic Russia.

But I’d argue the opposite in that they should be within Nigeria’s AORs. You can never maximize potential while the neighborhood is on fire. Nigeria shouldn’t let them fall to France, Russia, Juntas, or fanatics. As long as they’re volatile Nigeria will be as well. It should instead incorporate them into its own region centric sphere completely “politically” independent from the rest.

I support whatever it realistically takes to clean up this Sahelian situation I just hope when the dust clears Nigeria is able to install the regimes.

Military Intervention would be Ill thought and can send the entire West Africa into conflict. Just sanction and leave things that way. I'm quite sure that in three years time, those countries will be the ones begging for foreign intervention.

Meanwhile I think ECOWAS should collaborate to form a joint task force for coup deterrence and quick response in the remaining democratic member states. With at least 3000 troops in every state, stationed around the power center.

Most of these guys carry out this coup because there's no real threat of conflict from the army. When there is a good chance of death very few will think of it.

and become something like uno....
how did that worked out....??

people that they suppose to protect, complain about rape and other crazy stuffs....

better dont let confusion make you make more mistakes....
this is a strange and dangerous situation....

francophone nations should be allowed to go through this process themselves....

Army kills 11 terrorists, destroys six Boko Haram camps in Sambisa Forest

By: Zagazola Makama

The troops of Operation Hadin Kai in  collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have neutralized 11 Boko Haram terrorists and captured four others alive in Sambisa forest of Borno State.

The feats were recorded between Aug 4 and 5, 2023 when the troops made an unprecedented incursion into the Boko Haram hideouts in the fringes of Sambisa in Bama Local Government Area.

Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region, learnt from intelligence sources that the troops successfully cleared the hideouts of the terrorists in

Bula Shetan, lawanti,  Garin Ari Shira, lawanti, Kashimri and Gaizuwa.

The sources said that in the course of the encounter, the troops came in contact with the terrorists in Garin Ari Shira where a heavy gun battle ensued. The troops succeeded in killing five of the terrorists and burnt down the entire village.

Consequently, the troops proceeded to Alafa. But after  hearing gunshots, the insurgents abandoned their homes and fled.

On the withdrawing route of the troops, Boko Haram staged an ambush against them at Lawanti and opened rapid fire. Again, the troops repelled the attack and killed one of the terrorists in the process.

The naturalized terrorists were found with local bombs and bicycles and other items.
