You’re completely wrong, yeah they outsource something but not as apple does, apple outsources everything, and Samsung makes their own screen, they have a subsidiary called Samsung display corporation, and guess what, they make screens for apple. The nice screens you see on apple phone are made by Samsung

Most smartphones function normal with the line but it is always obvious that something is wrong with that part of the screen. There are also reports that the line appears all of a sudden without the phone dropping or after receiving an update.

Two of my friends have the same issue and several other people. Why is the brand not saying anything about the issue or try to fix it.

You sounded like someone that desperately needed an Iphone. I've used 4 flagship Samsung phones in a row and never experienced this. None of my phones lasted less than 2yrs and 8 months

Go to the comments sections, down on the pages. All reviews are mostly real time usage.

Some people just talk out of ignorance, Samsung screen can never got the green line without falling down. It might be long though but the line will drop from the spot that it fell down. Try to notice that. My Samsung never fell from my hand except from people's hand if they didn't tell me I might be thinking that what's wrong? Try to ask people that surround you and confirm from them.

I've been using s21 ultra since 2021, no issue, except for the phone getting hot sometimes, probably my fault, to much task

Samsung own part of corning, corning makes the material, Samsung makes their own screen, they also make for iPhones too.

Some people hate taking responsibility for their errors. It's not possible Samsung screen drew a line on your phone without any error on your part.

I bought my Note20Ultra in January 2021, I never drop it once. Na Nov 2021update brought d lines. It started with one thiny pink line, under 2 wks the 2nd line came up (green). I managed it till March 2022,when I bought s22ultra. My son still using it now. It's 3 lines now

my second iPhone XR with lcd is 3years now and still running. I don’t know what to say but Samsung users are like honda car users, they never agree to statistics.

You're only half smart. Tell us any high end phones or expensive phones without Amoled display?

Trust that, the green lines is crazy and long overdue for corrective measures but if you're looking for flagship gadgets, be ready to endure Amoled display and it's green line.

It took me 3 years plus before experiencing it on my OnePlus 8T

Please, this is an epistle but it would be worth your time. No science jargons

For those who believe that the "ghost" line appearing out of nowhere and for "no reason" on Samsung new flagship S series; is due to a fall or a physical trauma to the phone, I hope you don't experience it as it can be very "heart breaking".

Logically, it is easy to see that the line(S) is/are the result of a damage to the screen especially given that the ultimate solution is a screen replacement.

However, we must understand that the causative agent of this damage may not necessarily be physical (as in a drop, tap, hit, water spill etc). Here is what I mean.

Technically, every phone's hardware (Amoled/LCD screen inclusive) require a piece of software called "Driver" to function. A buggy driver probably due to an update may trigger unintended behaviour(s) in a target hardware.

The controller ICs of an OLED display (Samsung's S-Amoled displays are the same in workings) gets even more complicated than an LCD found in other phones. These complications are due to how an OLED produce images. Each pixel must receive its appropriate electric
current to light up properly. So manufacturers have more consideration when designing OLED based displays than they do with LCDs.

Here is my speculation: the update pushed by any phone manufacturer has the potential to alter how any hardware component of a phone work Imagine an update changing the electric signal output to a linear array of pixels on a display. The probable result would be death to such pixels.

A functional pixel consists of three colour sub pixels (Red, blue and green). Think of a situation in which an update ended up destroying a whole line up of red and blue in a linear array. The visible result would be a pure green line on the screen.

Why is this not affecting everybody or the entire screen of the defective phone?

In an OLED screen, the LEDs are meant to be identical in properties. However, in factory defective screens there are slight variations in the properties of these LEDs across the screen. So certain LEDs end up having lower tolerance to signal deviation than others.

Initial software running them are optimally calibrated to meet the requirement of these low tolerant LEDs. Hence no problem prior to an update. An update/upgrade on the other hand is a universally enhanced software version aimed at ALL devices with no consideration for a very few defective hardware having "low signal tolerance of a few million pixels"

Result? Good pixels with tolerance on that deviation keeps working while others without that tolerance deviation fail on the same screen.

It's not affecting everybody because they're lucky to have a phone without a display defect (my coined pixel electric signal tolerance )


I currently have two friends with the green line issue. It surfaced after an update. THIS, WE ARE SURE - AN UPDATE..

Samsung is awesome but let's not be to emotional about their flaws and of course every production batch from any manufacturer is sure to have at least one defective product that escaped initial quality testing and assurance certification.


Do your research on hardware interaction with software, then you'd agree that an update is indeed capable of causing the notorious "lines" on phones.
