VISA ALERT!!!

After 3 refusals for my Mum;

1st: 2018
2nd: 2018
3rd: 2022

4th: Approval

Its been a journey but it ended in praise.

Biometric date: 18th July 2023
Moved to DMC next day
Passport collection: 9th August 2023

The wait was a tough one, I was worried for my Mum because it will be devasting for her if its a refusal again.

All glory be to God.

Standard application...I didn't want to rush it.

Good day everyone,

Please assist me with this enquiry. I am a student in the UK and I want my Mum to visit. Here are our circumstances

1. She is a retiree and receives a small amount of monthly pension.
2. I am a student with 2 kids in the UK and have been in the UK for 7 months.
3. I am not working but my partner takes care of our maintenance.
4. Our utility bills are in both names - myself and my partner. We stay in a 3-bed apartment.
5. My mum will be sponsoring herself for the trip. She plans to stay in the UK for 5 months.
6. My mum has around 3 million naira in her account which were supports by her other children for the UK visit. Her pension allowance cannot and can never be enough for a week's trip.
7. She is 64 years old.

Here are my questions:
1. What are the document required to apply for her visit visa?
2. How long should the money stay in her account before applying for a visa?
3. What would you advise before starting the application process?

Your recommendations will be highly appreciated. Thank you

Good day
5. My mum will be sponsoring herself for the trip. She plans to stay in the UK for 5 months.
Gm please delete the above from anywhere and anything surrounding her application. She can not say she is coming for a whooping 5 months on her application form. If/when she gets the visa, she can decide to enact her original plans but do well to keep such length of stay away from the visa form especially if she has no immigration/travel history.

You can do a cover letter and pay to upload the letter as part of your supporting documents - when you go for biometrics.

If you've done the biometrics, I would advise you to pray and wait it out. You might get lucky
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Jayyjay: 4:19pm On Aug 09, 2023
Alright, thanks... I will hold on for a while, I will be applying for Italy study visa soon,so I will reapply from there.

Cashmadam:

My advise: wait it out. Reapplying this year is too soon. It just screams desperation which is a red flag.

Run your account normally and prepare your documents. You can try again in Q1 2024.

Hi, just wanted to mention that this decision was overturned, my company took it up. Submitted my passport on Thursday the 3rd of August, picked up my passport today the 9th of August. Thank you 🙏

Damn this was a painful refusal because it could have been avoided if you came to this thread earlier :’(

The preposterousness is amusing because that’s how I was also speaking English about my company’s CAC status being quoted as a reason for refusal until I checked the portal and it was truly inactive for that year. I’ll say it again, UKVI does not care if your company is top 3 in West Africa if it’s not active on CAC as at the date of verification. I work in a company that literally partners with the FCDO on various projects and they still quoted that inactivity as a factor for refusal.

If you ask me, the only things you need to fix are the CAC status and justify relationship between the invitee and yourself because budgeting ~£2500 to spend on a graduation ceremony for someone who’s not family is an interesting decision to UKVI (it appears they didn’t have issues with your finances but it’s best to double check ahead of your next application if your disposable income and trip budget make sense when compared because trust, that’s the next thing they’ll hang on to if you fix other reasons)

If you can include a cover letter that explicitly explains why you must absolutely attend this graduation (especially if it’s just a friend and not a family member) then that should help a bit. You also need to speak with your company secretary or legal team to fix the CAC status. I literally caused wahala for my own team smiley, I had one other reason for refusal but held on to that CAC one like it was the only reason.

Goodluck! And sorry about the refusal

Only when it’s beneficial to you people then you’ll stay to comment and ask questions. Once you get what you want, it’s to hell with the thread. Deleting of posts, playing unavailable etc
Good luck sha. Make me too take my bow. It’s been a lovely time on here. Stay safe everyone.

I haven’t been here for long but have seen how you help people on this platform. Please don’t stop because a few people decided to behave irresponsibly.
There are lots of people here that depend on your knowledge. Consider such people.

Hi Faith, I am also in the process of bringing my mother Inlaw to the uk to support us here . Agent I intend to use want to cut my neck off with high bill. I have got some few questions. Can we chat via email or text
Faithluv5:
Hi guys, please I’ll be applying for visit visa for my mum to come visit me in the uk. I included in the invitation letter that I will be the one sponsoring her trip. I will submit my bank statement (£7900) and still submit her bank statement that has about 2.5m.

In the question where it was asked “How much money are you personally planning to spend on your visit to the UK”. I put 1.7m for my mum there, please should I change it and put 0

Thank you

I tried paying for IHS for my son and I was given zero quote with IHS number and I proceed to apply and pay for the visa. I have not gotten a refund for the last refusal yet so I am wondering, did they bring it forward?
